Fees and Financial Aid

Per sem tution fee is 100000, and hostel fee per sem is 43200(including all extra charges like medical fee, fest fund). So this makes the tution fee per year as 200000, and hostel fee as 86400(including all extra charges). Scholarships : For annual family income less than 100000, there is no tution fee charged. Also if it is between 100000 and 500000, then 66% is wavied, i.e only 33333 per sem tution fee is charged. There are other scholarships like mcm , ncp etc.

Campus Life

There are many fests held at regular intervals . Fests like Alcheringa( cultural fest), Tenichche( technical fest). Many peoples come from all over india espacially from northeast india. Clubs are here for every field . One can explore all different domains like tech, cultural , sports, finance and consultancy .

Fees and Financial Aid

The college fees is 1 l lakh/semester for normal student and 30 percent for the student with income below 5 lakhs , the tuition fees is about 1lakh and mess fees is 20000 per semester and hostel fees is about 5 thousand there is hospital charge for hospital facilities inside campus that is 1000/sem so in total it is about 1,32000 for a normal student . People with less than 5 lakhs income will pay 1/3 of the tution fees. Girls will have scholarships on first year for their college fees.

Faculty

The faculties are quite sufficient and the ratio is about 1:20 and they are very very qualified. There are many good faculties likes John Jose and inkulu almost all the faculties are good because of their capabilities. There are quizzes and then there is midsem and endsem . About 10 student per 200 students fail but they give supplementary exams . The faculties approachable through mails and we can visit their offices also.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose Chemical Science and Technology because it is a very chill branch. We will get a lot of free time in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year so we can focus on non-core subjects such as coding, data analytics, finance, etc. We have 65 students in CST including girls. However, boys to girls ratio is 4:1. Our faculties are highly qualified. We are having our quizzes in every 2 months and then mid-semester and end sem which is a little bit hectic.

Campus Life

Life at Iit Guwahati is very fantastic and chill. We recently had our tech fest ( Techniche ). We will also have our annual fest (Alcheinga) in Feb. We also have many inter hostel competitions. There are various clubs in the college and we can join them according to our interests.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course structure is well spread across various domains in the field of Chemical Science and Technology. Curriculum promotes new ideas and gives the room for research for the projects. Lab work was given equal focus along with the lectures and the theory part of the syllabus. The faculty of the department is very nice and humble. All of our doubts were handled in the class very well. Project work is covered in the last two semesters.

Fees and Financial Aid

Financial assistance is provided to the students who come from weak financial backgrounds. Rs. 6.98 lakhs as the entire fee can be a big amount for some families. Scholarships provided by the institute are : Merit Cum Means Scholarship, Top Class Education Scheme for SC students, Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students, Scholarships for Top Class Education for students with disabilities.

Ques. Which is better, IIT Delhi (chemical) or BITS Pilani (CSE)?

● Top Answer By Shruti on 09 Jul 24

Ans. I am a B.Tech Chemical Engineering student at IIT Delhi. According to me, these are the main factors you should consider while making up your mind: Demand: CSE is more in-demand than chemical engineering. Brand: The “IIT” tag holds more brand value than the “BITS” tag. The “IIT” tag will be more advantageous if you want to apply to foreign universities for higher education later on. Fees: IIT Delhi is an affordable choice, whereas, BITS Pilani has high fees for its engineering programs. Additionally, IIT Delhi has better placements, which places it at a better position in terms of ROI. Here is a comparison between IIT Delhi Chemical and BITS Pilani CSE: Parameters IIT Delhi Chemical BITS Pilani CSE Course Fee INR 99,650 (for sem-1)* INR 3.32 lakh (for sem-1) Highest Package (2023: Overall) INR 2.5 CPA  INR 60. 75 LPA Average Package (2023: Overall) INR 17.60 LPA INR 30.37 LPA CTC Range (for 2023) - (IT branches) INR 11 - 38 LPA Campus Recruiters Microsoft, CISCO, Accenture, Brain & company, Jaguar Land Rover India Limited EY, HSBC,KPMC, HCL,IBM, TCS *This is the fee-structure for General/OBC students with family income>5 LPA.    Even though CSE is a highly sought after branch in the current market, I would suggest you opt for Chemical Engineering at IIT Delhi. IIT Delhi will offer a better ROI, and its brand name will be of immense benefit if you wish to pursue higher studies in India and abroad after graduation.   You can do some research on the career and research opportunities after Chemical Engineering, and see if this branch aligns with your future goals.Read more
