IIT Guwahati- (A tiny Glimpse into Our life)

I had a rank of 6566, so I chose this stream as it was the best availabe for me. The average package is also good, we get placed in good finance firms or get SDE roles in big companies. Teachers are extremely qualified, They have phds from IISc, MIT, Harvard, oxford etc. Exams are not tough to pass, but need to study properly, to do well.

There are fintech companies that come to recruit like JPMC, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, BCG etc. SDE roles are also prevailent and companies like Google, Amazon, facebook recruit. There also many core internships and research internships available for those interestes in their branch.

Placements are really good, mostly in SDE or finance analyst, consultant, with an average package of 26 lakhs. around 98% students are placed. Opportunites for higher studies is also very good, with mny students going for MBA from IIMs, or core STEM studies at Harvard, MIT, oxford, and IISc.

The fees over four years is around 10.64 lakhs. There is MCM scholarship for SC/ST category students. There is a seperate scholarship for female students. There is a fee waiver and a stipend for branch toppers as well.

The campus is absolutely beautiful. Its 700 Acres big, and his beautiful lakes and a hill or two inside the campus. Library is fantstic, multiple copies of each book available for students to issue whenever they want. We have Alcheringa(cult fest), Techniche(Tech Fest), Udgam, Spirit and many other events which keeps the campus sprawling. The sports facilities are also well maintained with coaches available for you to learn. There are many clubs, of various kinds, like coding club, Finance and Economics club, Octaves(music club) and much much more.(around 200 clubs).

Hostel facility is good, enough space for us to live comfortably although mess food is not good all. 2000 per year for hostel. There is a bed, study table, cupboard, a ceiling fan and proper electricity supply 24/7. Availability of water fillers at many corners.

Admission process is through JEE Advance. Rank of 6000 is required. JOSAA counseling takes place, where you need to fill your priority list and you will get your course according to your rank and demand of the course.
