Puducherry BSc Agriculture Admission 2024 will be conducted by the CENTAC, Puducherry. BSc Agriculture Admission in Puducherry is based on merit. Some universities require candidates to sit for an entrance exam to offer the BSc Agriculture course.

BSc Agriculture is a four-year course that focuses on and imparts technical know-how and practical knowledge related to practices in agricultural science. This course deals with a wide and diverse range of topics like Plant Breeding, Genetics, Soil Science, and many more. BSc Agriculture Admission is based on an entrance exam. However, some institutes also provide admission based on merit. Applicants who want to apply for the BSc Agriculture course will need to complete their 12th grade in the science stream with biology as the third subject.

Puducherry BSc Agriculture Admission 2024: Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the eligibility criteria as laid out by the ICAR. The eligibility criterion is as given.

  • Only Indian applicants can apply for admission to the university. However, applicants who are NRI or NRI-sponsored are eligible to apply too.
  • There is no lower age limit for the applicant. However, the maximum age limit for the applicant is 25 years old. There is a relaxation of up to 4 years in the case of applicants with a category.
  • The applicant must have cleared 10+2 from a recognized board or its equivalent securing at least a 50% score. There is a 10% relaxation in the case of candidates belonging to categories. The applicant must be having an aggregate of passing scores in all three subjects. Candidates who have compartmental exams will not be eligible to apply for the exam.

Puducherry BSc Agriculture Admission 2024: Selection Criteria

Applicants are divided into two categories and many other sub-categories. Union Territory candidates applying for admission through the regular program (merit) (UTP R) and UT candidates applying through self-support (UTP SS). Other state candidates (OS SS), as well as NRI candidates, are put in the second category as well.

The first category will have to apply through the CENTAC site while the second category of applicants will need to apply through the university website. Applicants can apply for admission through the following steps.

  • Visit the appropriate website- CENTAC/ PAJANCOA
  • Find the option to apply online and start filling out the form
  • Enter your personal details, address, and educational qualifications
  • Upload your recent photograph and upload your document
  • Pay the application fee of INR 500 or INR 250 in case of applicants with a category
  • Submit the application

In case the result of the qualifying exam is not out yet, students are given the option to leave the space blank to be filled later on. However, if the applicant fails to secure the minimum qualifications that are needed in the exam, his application will be nullified.

Puducherry BSc Agriculture Admission 2024: Result

To make the merit list, the marks of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology will be considered. Marks in all three subjects would be added and the aggregate will be normalized for ranking. The scores will be given out of a total of 200.

The applicants will be given ranks in the merit list based on the normalized score achieved out of 200. This score will be rounded off to a maximum of 3 decimals. In case 2 applicants secure the same normalized marks, priority will be given to score in Biology. This will be followed by a score in Physics and Chemistry. The last tie-breaker will be the date of birth.

In case there is still no clarity, then lots will be drawn from a computer.

Puducherry BSc Agriculture Admission 2024: Counselling Process

After the applicants successfully fill in the application form, different merit lists will be released for applicants of different classifications There will be 2 rounds of seat allotments for each category of students (UTP R/ UTP SS/ OS SS). Applicants will need to show up at the institute in person along with all the necessary documents and the admission fee to secure their seats. The following steps will take place during counselling.
