Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum offers a solid theoratical base, which influenced my decision to choose this course. While it helps with further, its lacks real world exposure and updated content. Exams are held each semester and are moderately difficult beacuse of this, so practical training and teaching methods need improvement.

Campus Life

Campus life was simple yet engaging. The library had a good range of literary texts and reference books through limited journals. Classroom was basic with needed requirments. There were a few active clubs and informal dicussions with peers added to the overall learning experience.

Campus Life

The campus life, I would say I'm not so much of a interested person in joining club and club activities, the classes I have already mentioned before some are very boring and not that interesting cause of the teachers, as they don't wants the students to understand. They just completes their portions and goes the cabin after the period and that's it infrastructure I would say the only good place they have modified is the main building, the other places like bathrooms and parking areas condions are poor. The library have a lot of collection of books but most books available are malayalam. Rihwa college union program conduct on on every February of the month, freshers day mostly on September or October month after the arrival of the new students. Cultural fest are held and christmas celebration, onam celebration's etc are held in my college. Any student can access the library but one should get membership to accesss it and must renew the membership when you complete the milestone of 50 books. The facilities in my classroom I would say is no use two fans are for 24 childrens in the class, the boy's side fan sometimes doesn't works and sometimes does, but mostly powercuts happen everytime and comes back.Sportsday and sports meet are conducted but as I'm not a student of sports i don't know much about it.Yeah I think there are some student run social groups or clubs in the college.

Fees and Financial Aid

My college collects about 10500 during every sem. No allowance to the students are provided in my college. As my college is a management college and I haven't received my admission based on merit I have taken seat provided by giving them an amount of 50000rs at the starting of my college, and only my two other friends have got seat like me too by providing the same amount that I have provided. To be honest, the infrastructure of the college is very poor and the bathrooms are a real message. The college union had tried many times to bring this problem into their attention but no use.Our union is also not that powerful too, in my opinion I would say they are taking a lot of money in the name of exam fees sem fees donation etc, but there is no use and nothing is special about it. As I have become a third year student now, I can truly say that the two years that I have studied they only have took money for students but no good infrastructure or privileges are provided in my college that I can assure for truly.

We have taken the ba english literature and language . This subject also have importance like other subject. Some faculties who didn't support the students. But other type of faculties who would support for anything. And exam system which is good. And the marking scheme which is also good.

Course Curriculum Overview

I think english is better than other subjects. So i have chosen this course. But in the campus or academically they are not even preparing the students for the real world. And they should also include or prepare the students for the real circumstances in their life.

The first programme in the college would be the freshers day to welcome new students to the college.this was cu ducted around the month of august or september. Then we had many competitions and small programmes throughout the year. The main programme is the university arts festival which comes around the time of february.the library was great there were all types of books necessary for children to satisfy their reading needs.all classes were equipped with smartclass projectors and screens which further boosted the experience of studying.Thse sports and extra curricular activities were encouraged by the management and students had a good time participating in such events.Social groups in the college were not so common there were some groups but most student were not interested in joining them.

Faculty

The faculties were really good and were approachable people. The students had access to them whenever they needed and they were all very approachable. All the facilties were very friendly and the students didnt have any probelems in talking with them or approaching them whenever they had any doubts. Some of the faculties i liked were Jimmy sir, Bindu maam,Teena maam. They were the most approachable and friendly among all the others.there was a total of six examinations for the whole course. From my class only nine out of twemty nine students passed on the first attempt. The relevence of the curriculum is still subjected to questions but for a bachelors course i think that is acceptable.

Course Curriculum Overview

I like my course as my ambition is to become a tutor in my future. The frequency of exams are quite easy for me as I catch every informations quickly in my mind. The curriculum prepares each of the students as it improves our English language skills

Faculty

1:20 is the aspect ratio of faculty and students. I like most of the faculty as they are very friendly and same time informative. Exams are conducted in each semester and they are a little tough for a below average student

The festivals and programs are conducted by the students union and not the college but the programs are perfect and great. The library is pretty accessible and spacious but lack an area for modern fiction or modern or newer books in general. The sports area is only for the students who entered through sports quota but those students dont get much opportunities besides college games.

Faculty

There are a lot of good teachers and the ratio is completely fine. The faculties are approachable but not friendly as such. English dept has one of thr best and not so good faculties. The exams are sem wise with each year having 2 sems. The exams are moderately difficult and conducted strictly on time.

Ques. I am planning to enroll in a BA English course in IGNOU. What is the procedure of the whole course and important things that I should follow?

● Top Answer By Rahul Sinha on 19 Oct 22

Ans. Opt for this course only if you are into novels and literature. Otherwise, it will be a monotonous ride. If you are planning to pursue BA English at IGNOU, you can conveniently work full time alongside. Instead of attending full-time classes, just sitting for a few will do it. Get your study material and go through it regularly. Don’t forget to apply for term-end exams. Exam applications come around March for the July exams.  You must also submit your assignment at the study centre before the last date. The questions for the assignment can be found on the IGNOU website as well as the study centre. Before the 2nd and 3rd years consult your study centre and choose your desired course and register for it. Lastly, keep in constant touch with your study centre for regular updates.Read more

Ques. How do I apply for a foreign language course in DU?

● Top Answer By Saloni on 10 Oct 22

Ans. Admission to foreign language courses at Delhi University is relatively simple. You must investigate which colleges offer such courses and which languages are available. You should make a list of colleges that you will be comfortable in based on your requirements and the faculty. Once you have a list, go to each college's website and look for all of the information there. The date of form distribution, the application deadline, the fee structure, time slots, and other pertinent information. You can fill out the form online and then keep checking the site for the list. Once the list is published, you must check your name to see if it is on it, and if it is, you must go to the respective college with all of your documents in hard copy. They'll check your documents, and if everything checks out, you'll be seated. After you've been admitted, you must pay the fees online within a certain number of days. Following payment, you will receive an email confirming your registration as a language student. The forms are usually available in June and July, and there is a minimum fee for the form.Read more

Ques. What is it like to do English Hons from Delhi University?

● Top Answer By Manav Batra on 25 Oct 21

Ans. If you are a reading enthusiast and loves to write with a great hold of Grammar, go for English Hons. You should not choose this as your 2nd option because the course is very hectic and requires a lot of concentration and interest.  English Hons is often misunderstood only with British Literature which is not true. You will be reading literature around the world including American, African, European, and Indian.  You must be regular to lectures as they are highly recommended. The faculty at Delhi University for this course is exceptional and their teachings should not be missed. You may find everything online but attending classes has its own advantages.  You will definitely enjoy your experience in the classes while interacting with teachers. It is important to note that your attendance will play a major role in internal assessment.Read more

Ques. How easy is the entrance examination conducted by EFLU Hyderabad for getting into English Hons.?

● Top Answer By Prabhas Sengupta on 16 Jul 21

Ans. The entrance examination conducted by EFLU Hyderabad is not easy for English Honours because there are more than 20 centers where this test takes place. There are certain reservations as well which add up to 50% of all the seats. Even if we don’t consider these numbers, the level of competition will be a real challenge. Also, it is not called BA honors, it is just BA English. One great advantage that you have is that you get to learn a foreign language consecutively for two years. The language that you opt for depends on the merit scored by you in the entrance exam. Spanish and French are usually in good demand. The admission process for this year has been completed. This is not to discourage the students from taking admission but it is important to state the facts. Campuses at Lucknow and Shillong also offer such courses where competition is relatively less. You cannot transfer from one campus to another. If you prepare according to the previous years’ question papers and have a good command of English, then it is not that difficult to get into EFLU.Read more

Ques. Which college is better for an Honors degree in English Loreto College Kolkata or Shri Shikshayatan College??

● Top Answer By Shalini Jaiswal on 20 Jan 22

Ans. Both Loreto College and Shri Shikshayatan College are the most reputed all-girls colleges in Kolkata. Choosing any one of them will prove to be a good step up for your career. Loreto College is popular for its English Honours course. It is more strict compared to any other college. Students here have to maintain a 80% attendance, failing which you will not be able to sit for the examination. Also for subjects with practicals, students have to maintain a 100% attendance in labs. The faculty of the English department is highly experienced with some professors having 15-20 years of educational experience. Shri Shikshayatan College is a bit more liberal than Loreto. It is not so strict about certain rules and students have the freedom to explore. The attendance, dress code, academics, etc. are much more lenient than Loreto. But according to the education provided both are equally good. Choose the one that meets all your requirements, as only that can give you a fulfilling college life.Read more
