Nift chennai: worth the hype?

Likes

There more exposure, industrial visits which helps the student to learn more
Experienced Faculties in nift chennai are actually really helpful
The infrastructure of the campus is unique and really beautiful

Dislikes

The food is not that great and is a little expensive
Limited hostel facilities and too many rules
The workload can be demanding and intense competition

Course Curriculum Overview:

I think it is oretty relevant and comprehensive. Nift infact is actually designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in fashion industry and their curriculum cobers a wide range of topics. Tho the teaching methodologies might nit suit for some students

A HONEST REVIEW OF NIFT CHENNAI

Likes

The campus itself has Library it has more that 17,500 plus books and the availablity of computers , labs , pattern making , garment construction lab , many more facilities are there
The faculty is very friendly if we did bad in the assignment also they give some ideas to improve. And they were like friends so good faculties and each one has individual mentors they also very kind and give tips
Nift is known for its celebration and festivals many events were happen next by next

Dislikes

Things I don't like that the nift don't give that much importance to celebration of events ig will happen but in the breaks or afternoon after the college only not the full day but very few celebration will happen whole day
There is more competitive in this college our cgpa is matters we have to work with fulfill to gain marks
Nift has language problem mainly those who don't know or not fluent in English they will definitely struggle

Course Curriculum Overview:

I want to learn technology and fashion so I choosed this course here we learn technologies subject and fashion related subjects and they two were have relationship in subjects the teaching method is so good we work in practical the exam will happen of about 2-3 hours for written and for the presentation one group have maximum 20 minutes then the rest of the team will do the semester will happen for 2 weeks only the exam is very basic easy only we have to understand the concepts and do in physical that's all

NIFT Chennai is great

Likes

Campus life is nice, the people are nice there is a little bit of a language barrier but you can overcome it by talking to everyone
Academic stress is given and the faculties are interested in what you are doing. Unlike other government colleges the faculties push you to do better and be better.
Design interventions are appreciated and a lot of redos are given to the work to be better. Depending on your department you will have great to bad faculty so it's dependent on the department and specialization you choose

Dislikes

Clubs are not student oriented there are mostly headed by faculties since at the end of the day they have to approve the events and designs. Recently a lot of politics also occur
Working at campus after 7 is not allowed and most of the work should be completed in college itself. Towards the jury dates people need to work in the labs but it's not available causing issues.

Placement Experience:

In the last semester placement offers come up l. The placements aren't extremely great and only a few get very good packages but the average package is not bad. You can also get a very good placement from your internship and continue working there itself.

Life of a design student

Placement Experience:

NIFT has centralised campus placement. We can sit for placement in our last year of college. NIFT placement percentage drastically reduced recently, but what you get completely depends on your quality of work. We'll probably get many options since NIFT is a prestigious institute, a large number of companies come there for recruitment. I don't have any plans yet, I'll probably get a job first and then think of how I want to go further.

Review of my college

Remarks:

My 4 years at NIFT was utterly an experience! I cant describe it probably in a word but I can say that it has built me as a person, it has thought me how to deal with different people from a worker or an artisan to at CEO or MD of an organisation, it has thought me to be confident at the same time humble. How to work under immense pressure and time constrains. All in all NIFT has acquiped me to take on this world and make my mark with the skills and practices that I learnt in these 4 years.

It had a huge scope of improvement then and i am sure its progressing on a good scale since then. Being a national institute and holding a great reputation there are a lot of areas to improvise and rework on.
