MIM MBA (HRM) FAQs
Ques. What HR-specific subjects and electives are covered in the MBA (HRM) programme at MIM?
Ans. The MBA (HRM) at MIM covers core management subjects in Semesters 1 and 2, including Organisational Behaviour, Financial Management, Marketing Management, and Business Research Methods. From Semester 3 onwards, HR electives kick in and include Training and Development, Performance and Talent Management, Organisational Change and Transformation, Compensation Management, Global Human Resources Management, and Industrial Relations and Labour Laws. In Semester 4, electives include Mentoring Coaching and Management Consulting, Counseling Skills for Managers, HR Analytics, and Leadership for Managerial Performance. Ques. Can I pursue MBA (HRM) at MIM and combine it with another specialisation?
Ans. Yes, MIM follows a Dual Specialisation scheme. If you choose HRM as your primary specialisation, you can combine it with Finance, Marketing, or Operations and Supply Chain Management as your second specialisation. The elective courses for both chosen specialisations are offered in Semesters 3 and 4. This dual approach is particularly useful for HR professionals who want to develop cross-functional expertise, for example in HR and Finance (for compensation and benefits roles) or HR and Marketing (for employer branding roles).
Ques. Is the MBA (HRM) at MIM suitable for students from non-commerce or non-management backgrounds?
Ans. Yes, the eligibility criteria for MBA at MIM requires only a pass in any Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 50% marks, regardless of the stream. Students from engineering, science, arts, or any other background are eligible to apply. The programme's core curriculum in Semesters 1 and 2 covers foundational management subjects that bring all students to a common level before specialisation begins. Many HR professionals in India come from diverse academic backgrounds, and the MIM programme is designed to accommodate this diversity.
Ques. What kinds of companies recruit MBA (HRM) students from MIM, and what roles are typically offered?

Typical roles for MBA (HRM) graduates include HR Executive, HR Business Partner, Talent Acquisition Specialist, Training and Development Executive, Payroll and Compensation Analyst, and HR Operations roles. Boys have three hostel options: Maryknoll Boys Hostel, OCD Boys Hostel, and MIM Boys Hostel, offering single, double, and triple occupancy rooms with attached or non-attached bathrooms. Girls can stay at John Bosco Prateeksha Bhavan or Madonna Girls Hostel, offering triple and four-sharing rooms supervised by nuns. Ques. How competitive is the admission process for MBA (HRM) at MIM, and what factors improve selection chances?
Ans. The selection at MIM is based on a cumulative merit score that includes the entrance exam score (KMAT Kerala/CMAT/CAT), Group Discussion performance, Personal Interview score, undergraduate academic performance, and co-curricular achievements. Additional weightage is given for work experience, NCC/NSS certificates, engineering degree holders, university rank holders, and winners of national/state-level competitions. Since the minimum qualifying score in the entrance exam is only 15%, the GD and PI performance and academic record play a significant role in final selection. Applying early and preparing well for the GD/PI round is advisable.
