In 2018, a student with a 5000th rank in the JEXPO exam chose Regent Institute of Science and Technology in Barrackpore for electrical engineering. Admission was based on merit, considering 10th and 12th-grade marks and the payment of admission and examination fees. The institute, with about 50 faculty members, including PhD holders and industry professionals, offers programs like Diploma Engineering, B.Tech Engineering, BBA, and BCA. The total course fee is around 120,000 INR, excluding additional charges for securing a seat and other liabilities.
Fees are paid initially and then every six months. Placement opportunities are available with companies like TATA, ITC, and Bharat Petroleum, with about 53% of students securing jobs annually. The college conducts training from the second year, with around 20 companies recruiting in the final year. The selection process includes group discussions, exams, and interviews. Although over 100 placement opportunities are offered, salary packages are modest at 8,000 to 10,000 INR per month.
Scholarships are available for students scoring 75% or above, along with the Oasis Scholarship and financial support for disadvantaged students.
