07 Nov, 2025 MAT December 2025 Registrations have started for MBA admission. Aspirants can register @mat.aima.in till Dec 7, 2025, for PBT Mode, and till Dec 15, 2025, for CBT Mode. MAT 2025 (Dec Session) will be held on Dec 13, 2025 (PBT) and on Dec 21, 2025 (CBT). For more details, check here.

Department of Business Management, University of Calcutta Courses

The department offers three courses in management. The courses are:

Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Master in Human Resource and Organisational Management (MHROM)
Ph.D.

The course fee of the MBA program is INR 98,000 for the first year. Students must submit this amount at the time of admission.

Admission to an MBA course in BM is through the CAT exam whereas Master in Human Resource and Organisational Management (MHROM) required a high merit of students in academics for admission. MHROM is a self-financing program and does not require any entrance exam for its qualification.

Candidates must apply offline by paying the application fee of INR 1500 (for MBA course) through DD in favor of “Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Calcutta University” payable at Calcutta.

A insider look at University of Calcutta

Admission:

The college had been there for a comparatively a long period of time, that is since the 1970s. The department boosted on a strong alumni background and had a better student yo teacher ratio. The fees for the college was very less compared to other colleges. The college also provides placement facilities as well as internship options. The college also hosts several events such as debates and meeting with business leaders. However, the college has a comparatively less number of permanent faculty. Similarly, the placement cell has to improve.

The infrastructure of the Department of Business management is nice and the classrooms, labs, library, canteen, etc are well maintained. The campus life of our college is also great. I had a lot of fun with my classmates and also the faculties are very supportive of us and the same goes for our seniors.

Admission:

The financial burden in Department of Business management is minimum and does not bother anybody. However I would rather say that the entire course of Management should be mostly Practical then theoretical. Marking schemes should change as More emphasis should be given on day to day project analysis and assignments.

Under the Department of Business Management, University of Calcutta offers MBA and Master in Human Resource and Organizational Management (MHROM) programs of 2-year duration and full-time Ph.D. course to the aspirants.

The application form is to be submitted offline by the candidates. It is provided on the website of the University of Calcutta.
Candidates who have completed Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with minimum 50% marks are eligible for MBA and MHROM courses.
For the Ph.D. program, applicants shall have a Master’s Degree in relevant stream from a recognized University.
Selection of the candidates for MBA and MHROM is done based on their merit in CAT/ MAT, and GD & PI conducted by the university.
Admission to the Ph.D. program is given based on candidate’s merit in Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) conducted by the University.
