Remarks

The financial burden in Department of Business management is minimum and does not bother anybody. However I would rather say that the entire course of Management should be mostly Practical then theoretical. Marking schemes should change as More emphasis should be given on day to day project analysis and assignments.

Entrance Preview

After a I passed Physics Honours I took an exam under department of Business management , University of Calcutta. The entrance exam is through CAT with score above 50 percentile.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum was more theoretical than Practical. However It helped us .There were 4 streams Finance,Marketing, personnel, Systems. I opted for System Analysis and Design and Operations Research . The course curriculum involves economics, statistics, accountancy, computer applications, econometric s etc. I scored about 60 % and passed out.The course is approve by AICTE and degree provided by Calcutta University

Internships Opportunities

No this department does not provide internship or any kind of stipends. However faculty members do find opportunities for projects and internship in various companies and help them with projects as guides.

Placement Experience

3.5

Each year some companies approach in recruitment drives and absorb students from MBM. However Department of Business management does not guarantee any job. Recruiter from companies like Indian Oil, Genpact, metal junction,Berger, Technocrat, Price water house etc has recruited in past.

College Events

3.5

Management festivals , get together with senior passed out students were organised by students of department of Business Management. This help us in getting insights of current requirements of industry. festivals took place once a year for 2 days in some good hotels or resort near Kolkata. Apart from this regular events like group discussion, quiz, industry visits, debates and presentations takes places.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure were extremely low compared to other Management institutes as mostly the course were subsidized by Government. The fees Rs. 16508/- currently for 2 years including Rs.10000/- for facilities. The fees structure is feasible and quite inexpensive as such no loans are required.

Fees and Financial Aid

As the fees structure is quite reasonable no scholarship or loans were needed for following this course.

Campus Life

3.5

The gender ratios among students in Department of Business management is 1: 4 with almost all the female candidates scoring very high. The students mostly belonged to Bengalis coming from Kolkata. However some Non Bengali students were present as well. There were no discussion on race or religion as such among us. Nos sexual abuse or any incident happened in campus. However some group ism existed among us which is quite natural.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

There are 17 Halls and Hostels under the University of Calcutta providing accommodation to about 2000 students studying in the University Colleges of Arts, Commerce, Science, Technology and Law and also the undergraduate students of the colleges as well as men research scholars/fellows of the University. Management of Halls / Hostels is executed by Board of Residence, an advisory body of the University of Calcutta. However only outstation students avail hostel facilities. Those coming from Kolkata prefer to stay in private boardings.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students were extremely helpful in giving inputs in how to score better marks .like sharing notes with juniors, helping out with best quality books available and important chapters to follow. They also helped us to find good jobs in Markets.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is mostly theoretical with question papers with pen and answer scripts. along with they have Practical tests and viva .Mostly traditional marking systems are followed here. Exams took place once in a semester. In the first 2 semesters there will be 8 papers each and in last two semesters there will be 6 papers per semester.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose the course only because of our HOD, but after completing my course, he left the course. He has helped us with all the things like web development and seo skills. By doing it practically for every student, he offers a domain for every student. I had difficulty with Google Ads & meta ads because it was taught by another faculty. The exam times were different by 3 months.

Placement Experience:

Placements are good and after the 4th-trimester students will be eligible for sitting in the final placements and after the 1st-trimester students will be eligible for the summer internship. Gartner, Big 4 and Grant Thornton like companies that hire in bulk with good packages but Gartner don't hire in bulk and it offers the PPO also after the SIP with around 17lacs, as of now I am not informed of the highest package because I still placements are going on so don't know right now. 97% of students get the placements from the college

It is one of the renowned institutes in Kolkata. But after admission got the clear msg. It is renowned for its engineering degree only not for PGDM or MBA. They even dont have proper faculties to teach students. I majored in Business Analytics, but back to then in 2019 there was not even one teacher who have subject knowledge.

The good thing about this college are the activities that take place every Saturday, which is quite interesting and knowledgeable. The bad thing about the college is that the departments are divided on the basis of their courses so the students do not gather as a whole bunch of college.
