SSN College of Engineering and Madras Institute of Technology is both affiliated to Anna University. SSN ranks at the 4^th position for Top Engineering colleges in Chennai while Madras Institute of Technology ranks at 8^th position. Both of them are private and autonomous colleges of the University.

Placements:

SSN College

• The average salary received by an SSN student is 5.61 LPA.With over 200 companies visiting campus, it has a 3:1 student to company ratio.
• Final year students are trained through mock interviews, GK sessions and industrial visits.
• Ford, Spotify, Apple, Bosch, Titan, Verizo, Google, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Company, Fujifilm are some of the renowned companies where students get placed through SSN.
• The highest package and the lowest package of SSNCE are 61 lakhs and 5.71 lakhs respectively.
• Internships are also provided in the same college from companies such as Nestle, HDFC, HCL, Axis Bank, Federal Bank, etc.

Madras Institute of Technology

• According to the latest information, 344 undergraduate and 39 postgraduate students were placed by MIT College.
• Companies like Zoho, Amazon, TCS, WAPCOS, Dell, Infosys, Microsoft, Bank of America, Qualcomm India, Adobe, etc are famous corporate companies visiting MIT campus.
• INR 3.9 Million has been the highest package of MIT college for CSE and IT.
• With over 190 companies recruiting students, the average salary of an MIT student is 4.5 LPA.

Academics & Admissions:

• SSN has 12 departments of study and MIT has 10.
• Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) exam as well as TANCET counselling is a necessary condition if one wishes to take admission to either college.
• MIT has 36 specifications in B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Phil, M.Sc, MS, and Ph.D. degrees.
• At least 50% marks and the subjects Maths, Physics, and Chemistry are necessary to take admission in either course.
• The undergraduate and postgraduate programs of both colleges are 4 years and 2 years respectively.
• The course fee of Madras Institute of Technology is INR 50,000, whereas the annual tuition fee of SSNCE is the same, INR 50,000.

Choosing which college is superior is challenging. Both the colleges are well-known and have good faculty, education, and placement opportunities. Students can choose their preferred college according to the course they wish to pursue in either college, depending on the seat availability.

A friend of mine recommended me CIT as it is the oldest and a government-aided research institute. CIT was started much earlier than SSN. Needless to say, the institute has much more facilities to offer you as it is the most trusted. 

Here are some basic information about the three institutes:

• If you ask about computer science, SSN and CIT are on the same page. Both the institutes are equally great. If compared on the basis of the CS department, VIT is lagging behind as compared to SSN and CIT. 

• CIT and SSN are more affordable as compared to VIT as it is a deemed University. 

• SSN has the best infrastructure among the three universities. 

• In order to encourage research, SSN offers an amount of twenty-five thousand rupees as part of internally funded projects. You can collaborate with top institutes like Anna University or IIT for projects.

• Though the faculty and quality of teaching at VIT lags behind, it is not the case in CIT and SSN. Both the institutes have a very strong faculty being top institutes.

• If you are planning to study abroad in the near future, SSN should be your ultimate destination. It is known for providing students with facilities to study all around the nation and the world. 

Though the oldest and the most affordable institute among the three is CIT, if your budget allows, you must go for SSN. It is also located in a metropolitan city. You can keep VIT as a backup option due to issues like affordability, comparatively poor faculty, and lack of enough research facilities.

Instrumentation & Control Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering are different branches. Although, both of these branches have some similarities. To choose between both of these is your choice.

Here are some of the facts about NIT Trichy and SSN.

• Faculty: SSN has amazing teaching faculty. They have quality teachers, some better than in NIT Trichy. 
• Ranking: SSN is one of the premier institutes in Tamil Nadu and NIT Trichy is among the top-ranked NITs in the country.
• Extracurricular activities: SSN gives equal importance to academics and extra-curricular activities as well. They focus on overall development. In NIT Trichy, a lot of extracurricular activities are held. Fests are organized almost every week. They focus too much on extracurricular.
• Campus: SSN is lush green and has a scenic beauty. NIT Trichy has a rocky campus and does not have much greenery, although they do have a beautiful college avenue road.
• Placements: The placements of NIT Trichy are better than SSN, however, the Average CTC is almost the same. Here is the placement highlight of the year 2020.

NIT Trichy has a brand name higher than SSN. However, if you are planning to do higher education such as MS abroad, then regardless of the brand, you should choose SSN as it will help you to grow academically.
