How is life at SSN College of engineering?

Life at SSN College of Engineering has been quite an experience for me. I'm studying Mechanical Engineering, and the faculty here are really knowledgeable, with most of them holding PhDs. The curriculum is solid, and while we have internal exams every month, it’s manageable if you keep up with your studies.

First Year
Transitioning from school to college is thrilling. You'll fall in love with the SSN campus because it's fantastic, with lots of cool hangout spots. All first-year students have classes in a separate block, away from the older students, which helps avoid any ragging. This setup also lets you meet students from various departments and make lots of friends. Plus, it's close to the sports complex, so if classes get dull, you can head there. The downside is the internal exams every Monday and Friday, which the college uses to keep students from taking long weekends off. On the bright side, there are loads of fun events all year, with INSTINCTS, the cultural fest, being a major highlight. You can join various clubs like Photography, Dance, or Entrepreneurship Development. Ragging is strictly prohibited, and there's no strict dress code. Hostelers need to be back on campus by 10 PM, while girls should return to their hostels by 8 PM.

Second Year
Welcome to your department. Though I'm from EEE, I know CSE is a top choice here, with a great placement record, though the faculty can be a bit strict. Each department used to have its own tech fest, but now there's one big event for all departments. The best part of the second year is the Industrial Visit (IV), which feels more like a vacation with friends. Destinations often include Munnar, Wayanad, and Goa.

Third Year
The third year rolls on similarly to the second year. Many students start prepping for exams like GRE, CAT, or GATE. It's also a good time to think about your future plans after graduation. With two years under your belt, you might have a clearer idea if engineering is for you.

Fourth Year
In your final year, you're the senior student, and the pressure is on, whether it's from family expectations, financial commitments, or personal challenges. It's a time to mature and focus on placements, further studies, or whatever path you choose. You'll also get to lead various college events. Saying goodbye at the farewell can be tough. College life here is about more than just classes; it's about making lifelong friends and growing as a person. By the end of the fourth year, you'll be a different person. Studying Electronics & Communication Engineering at SSN has been a mixed bag for me. While the campus is beautiful and there are several clubs to join, I feel that the curriculum could use more projects to make learning engaging. The faculty is generally helpful, but some of them can be a bit strict.

We do have annual events like INSTINCTS which are fun, but the overall social life could be better if there were more events. On the placement front, it’s decent, though I’ve seen some ups and downs. The hostel facilities are satisfactory, but the food could improve.

I am currently in the B.Tech Information Technology program at SSN, and I must say, the life here is pretty engaging. It's got a great reputation for placements and scores high on all academic fronts. The only catch is that it's known as the strictest department. They take attendance and unit tests very seriously. As for dress code, technically, round neck shirts and graphic tees aren't allowed, but honestly, no one really follows that. Similarly, there was a rule book handed out a couple of years back with all sorts of campus rules, but no one pays much attention to it.

If you end up in the hostel, aside from the food, it's pretty awesome. You can watch movies late, play games with your friends, and enjoy late-night walks and selfies at the clock tower. The terrace is a great spot too!
