BVCOE Navi Mumbai: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 8 Reviews

The college's admission process is merit-based, utilizing the MH-CET exam, with a minimum score requirement of 100 for general candidates and 60 for SC/ST candidates. Admissions can also be based on JEE scores through ARC centers. The faculty is well-qualified, with several holding Ph.D. degrees and maintaining an interactive student-faculty relationship. Course fees are relatively affordable, typically under INR 1 lakh, with engineering fees around INR 90,000. Financial aid is available for economically weaker sections and minorities.

Placement opportunities are available through aptitude tests, group discussions, and interviews, with companies like Reliance and RCF participating. However, the placement rate is about 40%, with average annual packages around INR 2.5 lakhs, rising to INR 5 lakhs at the highest. Internships, although not directly provided by the college, are encouraged, with companies such as BASF and Reliance offering placements. Scholarships can cover up to 50% of fees, based on entrance exam scores, economic status, and caste.

Tuition fees remain stable over the course duration, totaling approximately INR 5 lakhs for a BE in Chemical Engineering, with general category fees near INR 1 lakh per year. OBC students pay about INR 62,000 in the first year, with scholarships available to further reduce costs. The college assists with education loans but does not offer its own loan programs or merit-based scholarships.

BVCOE BE Chemical Engineering FAQs

Ques. Is the Chemical Engineering department at BVCOE Navi Mumbai NBA accredited, and does it matter for placements?

Ans. Yes, the Chemical Engineering department at BVCOE Navi Mumbai is NBA (National Board of Accreditation) accredited. NBA accreditation is a quality certification specific to the department (not just the college), which means the curriculum, faculty, labs, and outcomes meet national standards. For placements, it does matter because many core chemical companies and PSUs prefer or give preference to graduates from NBA-accredited programs. It also helps if you plan to pursue higher studies abroad, as NBA accreditation is recognized under the Washington Accord.

Ques. What kind of companies recruit from the Chemical Engineering department at BVCOE Navi Mumbai, and what is the typical salary package?

Ans. The Chemical Engineering department has a strong track record of placements in core chemical engineering companies. Regular recruiters include Reliance Industries, Worley, Technip Energies, KCIL, Dorf Ketal, Aditya Birla, Cipla, Ion Exchange, Praj Industries, NOCIL, Thermax, and Aarti PharmaLabs. The salary packages typically range from Rs. 2.5 LPA to Rs. 8 LPA for core chemical engineering roles. Students who get into companies like Technip Energies or Worley tend to get higher packages. However, placement is not 100% guaranteed, and students are advised to actively participate in internships and department placement drives.

Ques. How does the MHT CET CAP process work for admission to BE Chemical Engineering at BVCOE Navi Mumbai, and what percentile is typically needed?

Ans. Admission to BE Chemical Engineering at BVCOE Navi Mumbai is primarily through the Maharashtra CAP (Centralized Admission Process) based on MHT CET scores. After the MHT CET result is declared (typically in June), students register on the CET Cell portal, fill in their college and course preferences, and seats are allotted through 3-4 CAP rounds based on merit rank and category. For the 2025 season, the MHT CET LOPENO (Open) category closing percentile for Chemical Engineering at BVCOE was around 85.98 to 94.78 percentile, indicating moderate competition. OBC and other reserved category students have lower closing percentiles.

Ques. What is the actual fee I will pay if I belong to the OBC category at BVCOE Navi Mumbai for Chemical Engineering?

Ans. If you belong to the OBC-NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) category, your fees are significantly reduced through the Maharashtra government's OBC scholarship scheme. Based on student reviews and official data, OBC students typically pay around Rs. 62,000-65,000 per year, as the government reimburses the tuition and exam fees through the MahaDBT portal. The total out-of-pocket expense over 4 years for OBC students is approximately Rs. 2.5 Lakhs. You need to apply for the scholarship on the MahaDBT portal every year and maintain the required attendance and academic performance.

Ques. Can I pursue higher studies after BE Chemical Engineering from BVCOE Navi Mumbai, and what are the options?

Ans. Yes, a significant number of BVCOE Chemical Engineering graduates pursue higher studies. In recent years, students have gone to ICT Mumbai (Institute of Chemical Technology), IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Madras, IIT BHU, IIT Kharagpur, and international universities including Technical University of Munich, Purdue University, University of Leeds, Florida Tech, and FAU Germany. For Indian PG admissions, GATE is the primary exam. For abroad, GRE scores along with a strong academic record are required. The department's NBA accreditation and strong fundamentals training make graduates competitive for top PG programs.

Ques. Is hostel facility available at BVCOE Navi Mumbai, and is it mandatory for Chemical Engineering students?

Ans. BVCOE Navi Mumbai does have hostel facilities, with fees ranging from Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 1,20,000 per year. Hostel accommodation is not mandatory for Chemical Engineering students. The college is located in Sector 7, CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai, which is well-connected by local trains and buses, making it accessible for day scholars from Mumbai and surrounding areas. Students from outside Maharashtra or those who prefer on-campus living can opt for the hostel, but it is entirely optional. Hostel fees are not included in the standard course fee of Rs. 4.92 Lakhs.
