FAQs
Ques. Can I get into UCF with a 3.2 Unweighted, 3.7 Weighted GPA and a 1330 SAT?
Ans. Yes, based on your current stats, there is a strong chance you could get into UCF. The average GPA for admitted students is typically around 4.0 weighted, and your SAT score is competitive. However, UCF considers factors like extracurriculars, essays, and personal achievements, so continuing to improve your grades and involvement can enhance your application.
Ques. What are your thoughts on UCF? Do you think it's worth it as a student, or is it just hype over nothing? Why or why not?
Ans. UCF is definitely worth considering. It’s a large, diverse university with solid programs, especially in fields like Engineering, Computer Science, and Business. It also offers great opportunities in research and internships. While some may say it's "hype," the university provides good value for in-state students due to its affordability, campus life, and job placement rates for graduates.
Ques. Will I get into UCF if I have only gotten Cs and D’s throughout high school?
Ans. It will be more challenging with a record of Cs and Ds, as UCF typically looks for a solid academic track record. However, if you show significant improvement, strong SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular involvement, and a good personal statement, it could still be possible. You may also want to consider UCF’s alternate pathways or community college transfer programs.

It's been a tremendous journey at UCF for me. I'm really grateful to have joined UCF for my Masters in Computer Science. My specialization is Data Analysis - for which I have good valuable subjects to choose from. The courses can be accessed on the internet directly. There's also a decent Indian community here which would have you involved for several cultural events during festivals or other occasions.

Dislikes
- While the MSCV program at UCF has many advantages, there are also a few potential disadvantages to consider. Competitiveness: Due to its reputation and quality, the program may attract a large number of highly qualified applicants, making the admissions process highly competitive. Workload: The coursework and research requirements of the program can be demanding, requiring a significant time commitment and dedication. Balancing coursework, research projects, and personal commitments can be challenging.
Overview
It is amazing experience getting to know new people collaborating with new friends on projects is overall fun.

- Rigorous curriculum: The UCF Master's in Computer Science program is rigorous and challenging. Students will learn from the best and be prepared for a career in computer science.
- Excellent research opportunities: UCF offers a variety of research opportunities for students especially in the field of Computer Vision since UCF is one of the best universities in North America for Computer Vision. These opportunities allow students to work with leading experts in their field and make significant contributions to the field of computer science.
Dislikes
- The courses are more aligned towards the Research side and focus less on the tools and technologies used in the industry such as Apache Kafka, Spring Boot, DevOps tools, etc.
- There are no co-op opportunities affiliated with the University of Central Florida such as the one at Northeastern University in Boston.
Overview
My overall experience at UCF was great. UCF is a research university and hence has a rich variety of opportunities for students who want to excel in the field of Computer Science, especially in the field of Computer Vision. The main point of contact for Computer Vision candidates is Dr. Mubarak Shah.

- Academic Programs: UCF offers a wide range of academic programs across various fields of study. Whether it's engineering, business, sciences, arts, or health sciences, UCF provides diverse options for students to pursue their desired majors and interests.
- Reputation and Rankings: UCF has been steadily climbing in national rankings and gaining recognition for its academic excellence and research contributions. Many students are attracted to the university's growing reputation and the opportunities it presents for a quality education.
- Campus Facilities and Resources: UCF boasts modern and well-equipped facilities, including state-of-the-art research labs, libraries, recreational centers, and student organizations. The campus provides a conducive environment for learning, research, and extracurricular activities.
Dislikes
- Large Class Sizes: One common complaint among students at UCF is the large class sizes, especially in introductory courses. With a large student population, some classes can be overcrowded, making it challenging for students to engage with professors and receive individualized attention. This can hinder the learning experience and lead to a sense of disconnection for some students.
- Limited Parking: UCF's parking situation is often a source of frustration for students. The university's rapid growth has resulted in a shortage of parking spaces, leading to difficulties finding a spot, especially during peak hours. This inconvenience can cause stress and delays for students trying to get to class or campus activities.
- Lack of Campus Traditions: While UCF offers a vibrant campus environment, some students feel that the university lacks strong and established campus traditions. Compared to some older and more established institutions, UCF's relatively young age means that it may not have as many longstanding traditions and cultural events that students can participate in and feel connected to. This can lead to a sense of disconnect and a longing for more established university traditions.
Overview
UCF is widely recognized for its academic excellence, diverse campus community, and vibrant student life. Students often appreciate the range of academic programs, research opportunities, and the supportive learning environment offered by UCF.

Overview
It has been great, I met some great professors who have been greatly involved in teaching and have been very helpful to all the students.
Overview
Only two hours away from home, has a good CSD program. I had to pay a little fee to apply here, but it wasn't a lot! I also applied USF and gained admission, but ultimately chose UCF! I am very happy with my decision, especially after being here for a year and a half! The CSD program has welcomed me and I feel confident in my ability to thrive here.
Scholarship
Florida Bright Futures, UCF grant, Think 30 Scholarships helped me in financial part.
Overview
It wasn't too far from home but far enough and was not nearly expensive as a private school. The application fee was not bad and it was my top choice school so I was committed to getting in. I applied to five colleges and got into four. I was a straight-A student in high school but my SAT score was 1160.
Scholarship
I have used loans and it was not great. They offered me a subsidized loan but then changed the amount and did not tell me. So I last minute has to except a subsidized loan and still have to pay it off.
