- Affordability, renowned professors, ranking in CS and location of the University.
It's been a tremendous journey at UCF for me. I'm really grateful to have joined UCF for my Masters in Computer Science. My specialization is Data Analysis - for which I have good valuable subjects to choose from. The courses can be accessed on the internet directly. There's also a decent Indian community here which would have you involved for several cultural events during festivals or other occasions.
Course Curriculum
Course syllabus is advanced and include new technologies and methodologies. Professors are well-versed and have the required subject knowledge. I had a work experience of 2.5 years in India in the IT field as a Software Engineer/Analyst, which helped me expose myself to the corporate world and learn a lot. This perhaps accelerated my learning in UCF and thereby, created more space to further gain knowledge.
Exams
My scores are GRE 303 - 147 Verbal 156 Quant 4 AWA; IELTS 7 - 6.5 Writing, 7 Reading, 7.5 Speaking and 7 Listening. Submitted SOP and LORs. Sop can include brief details on the internships, awards, education background. LOR - it is really helpful if the professors are PhD holders that write you a LOR. Make sure of having good reputation with the professors and Managers (in case you have work experience) which helps in obtaining good LORs.
Placement
Good. As far as I checked with seniors, the University does matter in terms of it's reputation in the market and since UCF does have a good standing, getting called for jobs is similar to those studying in other reputed public universities. About 85% students were placed.
Fees
The per credit cost is specified in the website as $1,194.05. Now, my program is MS so I'm supposed to take 30 credit hours in total. Thus, the total tuition cost for me is $35,826.
Faculty
The student to faculty ratio is like 40:1. Faculties are well-equipped and knowledgeable in subjects that they teach. Very approachable, must say. I always make sure to clear my doubts and provided they have a time slot, I do it. They are always willing to answer and solve our technical doubts.
Campus Life
Campus is pretty spread and huge. There is a recreation center as well where one can play all kinds of sports and go gyming. Wifi is also available all over the campus for free. Most of the resources can be obtained from the digital section of the library in case needed.
Hostel
I live in an Apt off campus. The rent for my Apt goes up to $2500 per month including the electricity. Since I live with 5 people, it comes down to 420. Other expenses like water and food can be covered with $300. On an overall, the total comes down to $720. I hope the idea is met now.
