- Rigorous curriculum: The UCF Master's in Computer Science program is rigorous and challenging. Students will learn from the best and be prepared for a career in computer science.
- Excellent research opportunities: UCF offers a variety of research opportunities for students especially in the field of Computer Vision since UCF is one of the best universities in North America for Computer Vision. These opportunities allow students to work with leading experts in their field and make significant contributions to the field of computer science.
Dislikes
- The courses are more aligned towards the Research side and focus less on the tools and technologies used in the industry such as Apache Kafka, Spring Boot, DevOps tools, etc.
- There are no co-op opportunities affiliated with the University of Central Florida such as the one at Northeastern University in Boston.
Required Exams for Admission
My overall experience at UCF was great. UCF is a research university and hence has a rich variety of opportunities for students who want to excel in the field of Computer Science, especially in the field of Computer Vision. The main point of contact for Computer Vision candidates is Dr. Mubarak Shah.
Course Curriculum
UCF's course curriculum is not updated as per the industry needs. The course is advanced in the field of Computer Vision. Research Assistants are exposed to industry level tools and technologies and have a rich research experience in the field of Computer Vision.
Faculty
UCF has a lot of professors and the number of students in a class are 60-70 for specialized subjects such as Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence and 100+ for compulsory subjects such as Computer Architecture and Design and Analysis of Algorithms. The professors are highly educated and skilled in their area of expertise. The graduate co-ordinator Dr. Sumanta Pattanaik who teaches Computer Graphics to graduate students is highly approachable to student's queries and answers queries of students promptly. The faculty and staff are from highly reputed universities such as Stanford, Harvard, MIT, UPenn, etc. A professor's head teaching assistant named Dr. Jim Geist has recommended me on Linkedin for my work. Sharing rooms off campus. Average rentals to be paid are $530 a month.
Exams
UCF has a big intake for Computer Science students and admits students from a myriad of programs. My scores are GRE: 295/340 Verbal: 148/170 Quant: 153/170, TOEFL: 82/120. I had to submit SOP and LOR. 1. SOP:- -Introduction - Academic Background - Professional Experience - Research Interests - Future Goals - Fit with the Program - Personal Motivation: - Conclusion: 2.
