Likes

Unlike many universities, on campus employment exists.
Facilities like Gym, Swimming pool, Library are accessible and very big.
To be very precise, University of Delaware is safe to come up to - very low crime rate.

Dislikes

Mid-level expensive university with no scope for scholarship for international students.
Less number of Indian restaurants, in comparison to other states. Food, unless you know how to cook, is a problem.
It feels like a small town or may be village as there are limited options to enjoy within the city without a car - Only one shopping mall, not too many movie theaters or entertainment options, only 2 Indian stores.

Scholarship

No External Scholarship for International Students. However, For the first semester, based on your profile, you may be given 50% off of the tuition fees upon asking (if not asked, no use). If you are a TA/RA, you may be given a tuition waiver. I haven't received anything, as I have not asked in my first semester and am not a Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant.

Less funded opportunities such as TA/RA within ECE Department for MS students

Scholarship

No, I did not receive any scholarship or financial aid. While other departments do offer it. The ECE department in UDel is not very well funded.
Even students rarely get TA or RA in the ECE department as compared to other departments.
I haven't seen anybody get financial aid or scholarships for master's students. Maximum I have heard of students get RAship(Research Assistantships), that is in Material Science and Engineering department only. So those students don't have to pay tuition but get a stipend.

None of my batchmates received any scholarships from the college.
I think very less number of students receive scholarships each year. The amount depends on what kind of scholarship they received.
The funding is very less in this college , so there is a very less chance of getting the scholarship for students.

Campus - The campus is huge!
Transportation - There are campus shuttles and state busses that can move you around for cheap
Library - Great place to get things done in peace and they have everything for support

Dislikes

Campus location - There are not many fun spots around the campus and far from international airports
Funding - Some departments are funded more than others which creates lack of research opportunities
limited course availability - no matter how early you try to register the course it gets full really quicks because of less seats available

Scholarship

No I have not recieved any scholarships from UD so far but getting a research assistantship or teaching assistantship can waive off entire semester fees but it depends on the department, faculty and thier funding sources for that project.
I have seen couple of graduate students getting their fees waived off for the fall 2024 semester and spring 2025 semester

Overview

Wide range of academic programs and a fantastic marching band. It was important to be able to keep music in my life as well as academics! I was even able to minor in piano while studying neuroscience.
