Course Curriculum

8

  • I would describe it as an moderate level. It is not easy and not that hard.
  • It requires some focus and time, we can cope up with the syllabus if we put some efforts.
  • The positives are self learning and getting to know about different cultures and information.
  • I don't recall any negative aspects of the course.

Admission Experience

  • I applied to 5 colleges :
  1. University of Cincinnati
  2. UMBC
  3. Clark University
  4. Pace University
  5. University of Delaware and got admitted in all of the college.
  • I got admission in university of Cincinnati, UMBC, Clark, Pace University.
  • No I did not received any rejection from the colleges.
  • Since I got into all the colleges, I did not know the reason for common rejection. But I think its because of SOP and profile, competition.
  • I have chosen University of Delaware, because of the place which it is located in. Its a small town and it is very peaceful. It is near to major cities.
  • Admission Process : I applied through the college portal, fill all the required information and upload the transcripts, SOP and Exam Scores.
  • The eligibility criteria is to have a good GPA in undergrad and have a minimum of 6.5 in IELTS.
  • The college accepts GRE, IELTS, TOEFL and Duolingo. You can find the minimum scores in the college site.
  • My admission experience is that it took a lot of time to get my decision. Other than that the process is smooth.
I applied for the fall 2024 intake .
  • Factors are :
    Good GPA and
Good IELTS score, sending follow up mails to know about the application process.
Filling up the needed documents in evaluation of my application.
It took around 3-4 months to get my decision. That is the most it can take.
I applied on November and got my decision in the month of February.

Class Schedule

8

  • The number of classes in a day is depending upon the number of courses you have taken and the timings are also depending on the course taken by the students.
  • I would say 40-60% are Indian Students in my course.

Faculty

10

  • The faculty to student ration is 1:30. It does not affect anything badly.
  • The professor have separate hours to discuss doubts for individuals , so it is easy to clarify our doubts.
  • The teaching methodology is very good. The course content is not enough to secure a job in my field. But, it gives a basic idea.
  • I did not know about the faculty helping students in getting jobs.
  • I admire all my faculty.

Campus Life

10

  • Our campus organizes a lot of events for the students.
  • Campus is distributed all over the city, not just one place. We have free bus facilities for the students in the regions where campus is covered.
  • We have numerous sports clubs and intramurals are conducted over twice in a semester. We have a competitive gaming club and students can interact with others and play console games.
  • College conducts different informational events and webinars, along with the food and drinks.

Part Time Jobs

  • **TA/RA/DA Positions Secured:** Around 1 in 20 students.
    **Pay Range (TA/RA/DA):** ~$15/hour.
**Other On-Campus Jobs:** Dining, stores, libraries, and student centers (~$13/hour).
**Maximum Work Hours:** 20 hours/week during semesters.
**Ease of Securing Jobs:** Moderately difficult; applying early, networking, and contacting managers helps.
  • Indian students mostly prefer to work in the campus dining halls because only there we can max number of hours compared to other on campus work places.Students need to apply part time through a site called aramark, the managers will hire by seeing your profile in the application placed over there.
  • The process is definitely not easy because there are a lot of people looking for that positions, so it is a little bit hard. Also there are other opportunities we can find the college website for the students.

Placement

6

  • The full time job opportunities are not that good as of now, seeing my seniors who graduated recently. Out of 20 , 1 or 2 got the job after graduating. The rest are still looking for the opportunities.
  • Since it is a small place, there are no work opportunities near the college.
  • The average Salary range is 70-80K. Jobs can be found using job boards out there like glassdoor, indeed etc.
  • Most of the students got their jobs off campus by themselves.

Accommodation

Off Campus
6

  • I find my accommodation by talking to the seniors. I messaged in the groups and collected information from them.
  • There is a site called apartments.com , in this site we can find the available housing in the locality.
  • The monthly rent is around 1800, and all the basic amenities are included in that.
  • The challenges are finalizing house from India itself, without seeing the place by myself.
  • My accommodation is 3 miles from the campus

Exams

  • GRE, IELTS are required to get admission.
  • You can replace IELTS with TOEFL or Duolingo.
  • We need one solid statement of purpose ( SOP ) , 3 Letter of Recommendations ( LOR ), one resume and all the transcripts including PC and CMM.
  • These are the documents which need to be submitted from our side to complete the application.
  • There is no interview in the part of the application process.

Fees

  • The fee depends and varies to individual courses. The criteria credit per hour and it multiplies the number of credits you have taken in that semester.
  • The additional charges are insurance and living fee depending on type of housing you have taken.
  • The fees are charged semester-wise in this college.
  • The monthly estimate of expenses is around 600 - 800 USD. The transportation is free near campus.

Scholarship

  • No, I did not receive any scholarship in my course.
  • None of my batchmates received any scholarships from the college.
  • I think very less number of students receive scholarships each year. The amount depends on what kind of scholarship they received.
  • The funding is very less in this college , so there is a very less chance of getting the scholarship for students.
