Key insight: Applicants scoring below the direct-admit thresholds (TOEFL 55, IELTS 5.5, PTE 45, Duolingo 95) can enter through the Rowan English Language Program (ELP) pathway with one semester of Level 5 bridging classes before starting the degree.
Rowan University Acceptance Rate 2027
Rowan University reports a 77% acceptance rate for the most recent official reporting year, placing it in the leniently selective band among US public research universities. As per Rowan University’s institutional data, this figure covers first-year undergraduate applicants across in-state, out-of-state and international pools.
Graduate admission rates are not published centrally; programme-level rates vary and tend to be tighter for MS Computer Science, MS Data Science and MS Pharmaceutical Sciences. Well-prepared Indian applicants meeting the 65% bachelor’s benchmark and English minimums generally clear the academic bar.
Reality check: A 77% headline rate does not mean easy admission for Indian applicants. Financial documentation, WES evaluation and English scores all need to hit the threshold; incomplete files are the leading reason for rejection, not academics.

- Location and transit: Glassboro is 40 minutes by shuttle from Philadelphia International Airport; NJ Transit connects to New York City in two hours

- Indian community: The Indian Students Association hosts Diwali, Holi and Republic Day events; a Hindu temple and multiple Indian grocery stores operate in nearby Cherry Hill and Voorhees
What Indian students say: Peer conversations flag the shuttle to Philadelphia as the single biggest lifestyle win; the Chamberlain Student Center comes up as the default study spot outside library hours. Winter clothing is a first-semester expense underestimated by most incoming students.
Rowan University Scholarships 2027
Rowan University runs one centralised international scholarship programme, applied automatically to admitted students; no separate application is required.
| Scholarship | Type | Award Value | Eligibility | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rowan International Scholarship | Merit | USD 1,000 to 19,000 per year (INR 0.96 to 18.19 lakh) | All admitted international students on valid non-immigrant visa | March 1 (priority) |
[Source: Rowan University Office of International Admissions]
The award applies only to direct costs (tuition, fees, on-campus housing and board) for Fall and Spring semesters. Recipients must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA on the 4.0 scale to retain the scholarship in subsequent years. Beyond this scheme, Indian applicants can pursue external funding through Inlaks Shivdasani, JN Tata Endowment and KC Mahindra scholarships for US study.
Planning note: The higher end of the range (USD 15,000 to 19,000) typically goes to applicants with academic profiles well above the 65% benchmark. Applying by January, ahead of the March 1 priority date, materially improves award odds.

Rowan University Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
Rowan University does not publish a central university-wide placement rate; outcomes are tracked by college and reported through the Office of Career Advancement.

- MBA post-degree salary (market data): USD 75,000 to 90,000 per year (INR 71.81 to 86.17 lakh) (estimated)
- Employer sectors: Pharmaceuticals, engineering services, financial services, education, healthcare; South Jersey and Philadelphia metro dominate hiring
- Career support: Handshake platform, on-campus career fairs each semester and one-to-one advising through the Office of Career Advancement
- Post-study work visa: 12 months of OPT for F-1 graduates; a 24-month STEM OPT extension applies to eligible engineering, CS, data science and pharmaceutical science degrees, totalling 36 months

Rowan University vs Peer Universities
The comparison set covers New Jersey and mid-Atlantic public and private universities Indian applicants weigh alongside Rowan University, benchmarked on international PG tuition and positioning.
| University | Avg Annual PG Fee (USD) | Avg Annual PG Fee (INR lakh) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rowan University | 16,632 | 15.93 lakh | R2 research with lowest tuition band in NJ public universities |
| Rutgers University-New Brunswick | 32,000 (estimated) | 30.64 lakh (estimated) | Flagship R1 state university with larger Indian community |
| New Jersey Institute of Technology | 24,000 (estimated) | 22.98 lakh (estimated) | Newark polytechnic focused on CS and engineering |
| Drexel University | 40,000 (estimated) | 38.30 lakh (estimated) | Six-month co-op integration in every degree |
| Temple University | 25,000 (estimated) | 23.94 lakh (estimated) | Fox School of Business AACSB accreditation, Philadelphia campus |
Rowan University stands out for the lowest published international PG tuition in this comparison, at 52% of the Rutgers-New Brunswick sticker price and 42% of Drexel University’s. Its Carnegie R2 status and Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering give it a stronger research signal than the tuition suggests; it fits alongside other cheap universities in USA for cost-conscious Indian applicants.
Rowan University fits Indian PG applicants prioritising a two-year US degree at a manageable investment of USD 100,000 (INR 95.74 lakh) total, versus a market-median starting salary of USD 65,000 (INR 62.23 lakh) per year for STEM masters graduates. The extended OPT and STEM OPT window strengthens the H-1B sponsorship pathway in New Jersey’s pharma and tech corridors, a clear draw for STEM applicants planning to work in the USA through the standard F-1 visa interview questions route.
Rowan University is not the right pick for applicants targeting an Ivy-adjacent brand or a top-band QS World placement. Rutgers University-New Brunswick or Drexel University are stronger fits when brand and rank are the priority, though at a materially higher total cost.
Rowan University FAQs
Ques. What application fee does Rowan University charge international applicants?
Ans. Rowan University charges international undergraduate applicants a USD 65 application fee (INR 6,223) and international graduate applicants a USD 65 application fee, paid online through the applicant portal at the time of submission. The fee is non-refundable and covers processing of the application, transcript review and initial credential check. Fee waivers are available in limited cases, primarily for applicants recommended by partner institutions or attending Rowan University sponsored recruitment events.
Ques. Does Rowan University require GRE or GMAT for master’s programs?
Ans. Rowan University lists the GRE as optional for most master’s programmes, including MS Computer Science, MS Data Science and MS Engineering tracks. Applicants with a bachelor’s CGPA above 7.5/10 or from AICTE-approved technical institutions typically bypass the test entirely. The MBA at the Rohrer College of Business waives the GMAT for applicants with three or more years of full-time work experience or a completed graduate degree in a quantitative field.
Ques. Which Indian banks provide education loans for Rowan University?
Ans. State Bank of India, HDFC Credila, ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda, Axis Bank and Avanse all sanction education loans for Rowan University degrees, as it holds valid US SEVIS approval and MSCHE accreditation. Loans up to INR 1.5 crore are available without collateral through non-banking lenders such as Prodigy Finance and MPOWER Financing for STEM master’s programmes. The I-20 issued by Rowan University after admission is the primary document required for loan disbursement.
Ques. How many hours can Rowan students work on an F-1 visa?
Ans. F-1 visa holders at Rowan can work up to 20 hours per week on-campus during Fall and Spring semesters; the cap rises to 40 hours per week during official university breaks. On-campus roles include the Chamberlain Student Center, library, dining services and graduate research or teaching assistantships. Off-campus work is not permitted in the first academic year; from year two, Curricular Practical Training (CPT) roles related to the degree are authorised through the International Center.
Ques. Can Indian applicants receive conditional admission at Rowan University?
Ans. Yes. Rowan University offers conditional admission through the English Language Program (ELP) for Indian applicants who meet all academic requirements but fall short on English scores. Applicants scoring TOEFL 55, IELTS 5.5, PTE 45 or Duolingo 95 qualify for ELP Level 5, which involves one semester of English bridging classes before starting the main degree. On completing Level 5 with 3.0 GPA, students transition directly into the degree programme without a fresh admission cycle.
Ques. Are dependents allowed on the F-1 visa at Rowan?
Ans. Yes. F-1 students at Rowan can bring a spouse and unmarried children under 21 as F-2 dependents, provided they submit financial proof covering the additional cost of USD 6,000 per dependent per year in the initial I-20. Ques. How does WES credential evaluation work for Rowan transcripts?
Ans. Rowan University requires a course-by-course WES International Credential Advantage Package (ICAP) evaluation for Indian bachelor’s and Class 12 documents. Applicants order the evaluation directly through the WES portal, submit official transcripts sealed by the Indian university’s controller of examinations and pay a fee of USD 205 (INR 19,627). Processing takes four to six weeks after WES receives all documents; the report is sent electronically to Rowan University Admissions using the university’s WES code.
Ques. How long is OPT plus STEM OPT for Rowan graduates?
Ans. Rowan University F-1 graduates receive 12 months of standard Optional Practical Training (OPT) after completing any degree. Graduates of STEM-designated programmes, including MS Computer Science, MS Data Science, MS Electrical and Computer Engineering, MS Mechanical Engineering and MS Pharmaceutical Sciences, can apply for a 24-month STEM OPT extension, totalling 36 months of legal work authorisation. Rowan University Reviews

Likes
- I like the way of teaching by the professors (Classes have advanced teaching systems).
- Cleaniness everywhere in the campus (most at all the times).
- I like the support from international center(they respond very quickly).
Dislikes
- I dont like one thing about the college is, when coming to the jobs, there are more federal jobs available for the citizens than those for International students (Its common in USA as they give first preference to the people who live here).
- The college timings (6:30 PM-9:15 PM in most of the courses that I am having).
- Limited Part time work inside the college (Hard to get for international students).
Campus Life
- There are a total of 2 campuses to which I have gone.
- One is the main campus, which is in Glassboro, New Jersey.
- The other is in Camden, New Jersey.
- Rowan University has everything in terms of use for the students, including the library and Rowan Hall. Discovery Hall, Wellness Centre, International Centre at Savitz Hall, Dance Studios, Big Playgrounds (Outside), and Inside Play (includes basketball, chess, swimming pool, and many more).
- Halloween is the most celebrated one here and I am part of the one group of students in which I have participated in some activities.
- Rowan University gives much priority to all the students from different cultures and celebrates every festival on campus with conducting events corresponding to them.
- As I am part of Halloween and also our Indian festival, which is Diwali, I celebrated well with my friends on the same day here.
- Rowan University provides free food and drinks for every event they are conducting on campus.
Fees
- The full fee is $32085 (one credit = $1035). Fees is charged semester-wise and credit-based (for example, if I have taken 10 credits in the first semester, it costs exactly $10,350).
- Health insurance is mandatory in the USA (Rowan University offers $2700 per year).
- The good thing is that Rowan University accepts the insurance from ISO and ISI health organisations (costs around $1000 per year).
- We can pay the tuition fees in installments (there is no pressure in paying our fee, but one has to complete his/her payment before the beginning of the next semester as they will place a hold on our student account).
- As I am not staying in hostel, I am not sure about the charges, but students usually live in a rented house (For me, it costs around $600 per month, including food, utilities, other expenses like transportation, etc.)

- Diversity in University. University claims to be one of the diverse universities in the States which I think is one as the nationality of students exceeds from more than 40 countries which makes it one of the good place for international students.
- The Staffs and Professors. Until now my interaction with the staffs and professors have been very nice. Professors are really helpful and helps you understand anything you have problem with very easily and also the staffs working here are super kind and are always ready to provide you with a helping hand when you need one.
- Clubs By far this university has the highest number of clubs ranging from simple club for student to hang out and chill to club that helps student develop and learn new skills that can align with your major. The number of clubs on campus helps you constantly get involved in different activities constantly while helping you learn different new things as well.
Dislikes
- The facility for train station. The university lies on Glassboro which is a small town rather than some big city due to which the facility of nearest train station is almost 17km from university.
- Cost for on campus housing and dining. The cost of housing on campus is really expensive as the cheapest one being around 4800$ for a single semester and also the dining meal plans comes to around 2450$ for the cheapest one and you are only able to have 2 meals daily.
- The policy for students to leave off campus University holds a strong policy for any students under 21 to stay on campus housing and one can leave only if they have someone of their family member staying inside 40mile (64km) radius which applies for both international students as well as students for the US as well.

Overview
I chose this university as it was a Public university and it had great research opportunities. It was not that expensive as well and had great on campus job opportunities. The college life was great like I got exposure to the American culture and American sports since I was working at the recreational center as a basketball ref, and I made a lot of American friends being an international student, it was a great opportunity for me.

It is a great campus with a lot of opportunities. There’s a big recreational centre with libraries and sports centre, and this year they have also taken the initiative to add cricket to their sports tournaments for Indian students.
