Rowan Admission Decisions Timeline
Rowan issues rolling decisions once your application is complete. Typical turnaround is 4 to 6 weeks from the date your file is marked complete. On acceptance, you receive an offer letter and an I-20 form, which lets you book the F-1 visa interview. Deferrals to the next intake are usually granted on written request within 30 days of the offer.
Rowan Documents Required for Indian Students
Assemble the paperwork below before you start the application. Rowan’s international applicant checklist emphasises evaluated transcripts and clear financial documents. Missing items are the single most common cause of file delays.
- Passport bio-page scan with at least 12 months validity beyond your intake start.
- Class XII transcripts and pass certificate (UG applicants) or Bachelor’s transcripts and degree certificate (PG applicants).
- WES or ECE course-by-course evaluation for PG applicants.
- English test score report (IELTS TRF, TOEFL score report, or Duolingo certificate).
- Statement of Purpose of roughly 500 to 800 words tied to your chosen program.
- Two to three Letters of Recommendation on institutional letterhead.
- Resume or CV covering academics, projects, and any work experience.
- Financial affidavit and bank statement showing funds for one year of tuition plus living costs.
- Work experience letters for MBA and PhD applicants where relevant.
Rowan University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students
Rowan reports an institution-wide acceptance rate of 77.4 percent, which places it among the more accessible R2 public universities in the US. Indian applicants who meet the stated academic and English floors have a strong chance of admission across most departments.
Which Rowan Programs Are More Competitive?
Computer Science, Data Science, and Biomedical Engineering see higher applicant volume and effectively run tighter cutoffs than the headline rate. Expect a functional cutoff nearer 3.2 GPA for these MS programs, versus 3.0 across most of the graduate catalogue.
How Does Rowan Compare with Other US Publics?
Rowan’s 77.4 percent rate is materially higher than East Coast peers like Rutgers or Stony Brook, and closer to regional publics like the University of New Haven. This makes it a strong safety-plus-target choice within a balanced application list. See its ranking band in the US News Best National Universities list for scale context.
Insider note: A 77 percent institutional accept rate does not mean guaranteed admission to Computer Science. Program-level scrutiny of prerequisite coursework is strict, so map your Bachelor’s syllabus to Rowan’s listed prerequisites before applying.
USA F-1 Student Visa Process
Indian students admitted to Rowan apply for the F-1 student visa at the US Consulate. The process runs in parallel with acceptance, so begin as soon as you receive the I-20 form. Book your interview at the earliest slot in your city; wait times for Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Kolkata vary through the year.
Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee of USD 350 (INR 33,075), then the DS-160 visa fee of USD 185 (INR 17,483). Submit financial proof covering one year of tuition (USD 28,252 UG or 16,632 PG) plus estimated living costs of USD 21,432 (INR 20.25 Lakhs). At the interview, present the I-20, admission letter, DS-160 confirmation, SEVIS receipt, and academic records. After landing at a US port of entry, complete SEVIS check-in with Rowan Global within 15 days. Post-study, Indian STEM graduates qualify for 36 months of OPT (12 months plus a 24-month STEM extension).
2026 update: The US State Department has expanded interview appointment slots at Indian consulates for the 2026-27 academic cycle. Book early, especially for the Fall intake, since demand still peaks between May and July.

- Request transcripts 8 weeks before your target deadline: Indian university registrars typically take 4 to 6 weeks.
- Finalise your SOP topic by month minus 3: tie your goals to Rowan’s specific labs, faculty, or research centres.

- I like the way of teaching by the professors (Classes have advanced teaching systems).
- Cleaniness everywhere in the campus (most at all the times).
- I like the support from international center(they respond very quickly).
Dislikes
- I dont like one thing about the college is, when coming to the jobs, there are more federal jobs available for the citizens than those for International students (Its common in USA as they give first preference to the people who live here).
- The college timings (6:30 PM-9:15 PM in most of the courses that I am having).
- Limited Part time work inside the college (Hard to get for international students).
Scholarship
- No, there are no scholarships available for international students at Rowan University.
- The Rowan University fee structure is equal for both instate/outstate and international students (this is the main reason they will not provide any scholarships for international students).
- No one in my friends receives scholarships from Rowan University.
- I feel Rowan University's fee structure is low as compared to many public universities in the USA.

- Diversity in University. University claims to be one of the diverse universities in the States which I think is one as the nationality of students exceeds from more than 40 countries which makes it one of the good place for international students.
- The Staffs and Professors. Until now my interaction with the staffs and professors have been very nice. Professors are really helpful and helps you understand anything you have problem with very easily and also the staffs working here are super kind and are always ready to provide you with a helping hand when you need one.
- Clubs By far this university has the highest number of clubs ranging from simple club for student to hang out and chill to club that helps student develop and learn new skills that can align with your major. The number of clubs on campus helps you constantly get involved in different activities constantly while helping you learn different new things as well.
Dislikes
- The facility for train station. The university lies on Glassboro which is a small town rather than some big city due to which the facility of nearest train station is almost 17km from university.
- Cost for on campus housing and dining. The cost of housing on campus is really expensive as the cheapest one being around 4800$ for a single semester and also the dining meal plans comes to around 2450$ for the cheapest one and you are only able to have 2 meals daily.
- The policy for students to leave off campus University holds a strong policy for any students under 21 to stay on campus housing and one can leave only if they have someone of their family member staying inside 40mile (64km) radius which applies for both international students as well as students for the US as well.
Scholarship
- I received $19000 on scholarship for a year which managed to take my tuition fee from $25600 to $3300 per semester including international student scholarship of $11000 per year and Browns and Golds scholarship of $8000 per year which is given to students based on their academic performance with $8000 being the most.
- My batchmates also received same amount of international student scholarships but the scholarship for Browns and Golds varied among different batchmates.

Overview
I chose this university as it was a Public university and it had great research opportunities. It was not that expensive as well and had great on campus job opportunities. The college life was great like I got exposure to the American culture and American sports since I was working at the recreational center as a basketball ref, and I made a lot of American friends being an international student, it was a great opportunity for me.
