The ACT exam fee in India 2026 depends on which sections you take. Indian students pay an additional USD $118.50 international testing fee on top of the base section fee. All ACT fees are paid in USD through the MyACT portal.

ACT fees are non-refundable. Both the base registration fee and any add-on service fees stay forfeited if you cancel. It is always better to reschedule than to cancel the ACT exam.

1. Visit my.act.org and create your MyACT account.

What documents do you need to register for the ACT?

You need a valid Indian passport at registration and on test day. The name on your passport must exactly match the name on your ACT registration. Aadhaar, PAN card and other Indian IDs are not accepted for the ACT.

Print your admission ticket and carry it on test day along with your passport. The test centre will not allow entry without both documents. There is no exception to this rule.

ACT Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2026

The Enhanced ACT exam pattern 2026 has 3 required core sections plus 2 optional add-on sections. The Core test duration is 2 hours 5 minutes. Adding Science or Writing extends the test by 40 minutes each.

ACT English syllabus: Grammar, usage, punctuation and sentence structure carry 40-45% weight. Production of writing and Knowledge of language carry 35-45% weight. Conventions of standard English carry 15-20% weight. Passages cover narrative, expository and argumentative writing.

ACT Math syllabus:

• Preparing for Higher Math: Number and quantity, algebra, functions, geometry, statistics and probability.
• Integrating Essential Skills: Word problems combining multiple math topics.
• Modeling: Real-world problem solving with equations and inequalities.
• Math questions now have 4 answer choices (down from 5 in the classic ACT).
• Calculators are permitted throughout the section.

ACT Reading syllabus:

• Literary narrative: Fiction or memoir passages.

Is there negative marking in the ACT?

No. The ACT has no negative marking. You should attempt every question, even if you have to guess. There is no penalty for a wrong answer.

Does the Enhanced ACT have an experimental section?

No. ACT Inc. removed the separate experimental (5th) section in the Enhanced ACT. Field-test questions are now sprinkled within the required sections. These do not affect your final score.

How to Check Your ACT Results 2026

ACT results are released in stages. Multiple-Choice (MC) scores arrive within 10 business days of your test. Writing scores arrive in 2 to 8 weeks because they are hand-graded by ACT scorers.

• Log in to your MyACT account using your registered credentials.

• Click View Scores next to your most recent ACT test.
• You see your section scores and your Composite score.
• Download your official PDF score report once available.

Your Composite score is the average of English, Math and Reading scores. Science and Writing scores appear separately if you took those optional sections.
