ACT Result 2026

The ACT result is declared online through the MyACT portal. ACT does not send result notifications by SMS, phone or email beyond a registration confirmation. You must log in to the portal to check your scores.

Scores are released in stages. Multiple-choice scores from English, Math and Reading appear first. Science and Writing scores are added later as they are processed. Your final composite score is calculated only after all required scores are validated. Indian students who took the test at ACT test centres in India follow the same release timeline as US test-takers.

ACT Result Declaration Timeline

ACT result timing depends on whether you took the online or paper-based version, and whether you took Writing. The Enhanced ACT online format released in April 2025 tends to deliver faster results than the paper version. The ACT 2026 test dates include 7 national administrations, and each test date has a separate result release window.

Important: Your score report is not sent to universities until all required scores from your test date are validated. If you took Writing, university score recipients only receive the report after Writing scores are added.

How to Check ACT Result Online

The MyACT portal is the only place to view ACT scores. ACT does not release scores by phone, email, chat or fax. Viewing scores online does not speed up the reporting process to universities.

1. Visit my.act.org: Open the official MyACT portal in a web browser. Use the same login you created during ACT registration.
2. Log in with your credentials: Enter your registered email and password. Use the Forgot Password link if you cannot recall your password.
3. Open the Scores tab: The Scores tab appears in the top navigation. It lists all your ACT test dates with status (Pending, Scored or Reported).
4. Select your test date: Click the test date you want to view. The score report opens with section-wise and composite scores.
5. Re-enter your password if prompted: ACT may ask you to confirm your password before showing scores for security.
6. Download or print the score report: Save the PDF for your records. Send the score to universities through the same page using the Send Scores option.

ACT Scorecard Details

The ACT score report contains your section scores, composite score, percentile ranks, college readiness benchmarks, and detailed sub-scores. The report is delivered as a downloadable PDF through MyACT.

• Candidate details: Name, date of birth, MyACT ID, registered email
• Test date and centre: Date taken, test centre code, test format (online or paper)
• Section scores: English, Math, Reading scores from 1 to 36. Science score if taken. Writing score from 2 to 12 if taken.
• Composite score: Average of English, Math and Reading rounded to nearest whole number, scale 1 to 36

Indian students should download both the PDF score report and the official Student Score Report URL for sharing with universities or counsellors. The ACT score validity is 5 years, so save the PDF in cloud storage for future applications.

Understanding Your ACT Score Components

Each ACT section is scored independently on a 1 to 36 scale. The composite score is the most important number for university admissions. Section scores help universities evaluate strength in specific subjects.

From 2025, Science is no longer included in the composite. The Enhanced ACT composite is calculated as (English + Math + Reading) divided by 3, rounded. Test-takers comparing scores to the older ACT format must adjust expectations.

ACT Percentile Rank Meaning

The percentile rank shows what percentage of test-takers scored at or below your composite. A 30 composite places you in the 93rd to 94th percentile, meaning you scored higher than around 93 percent of all ACT test-takers nationally. Indian students applying to selective US universities typically target the 90th percentile or above.

National average composite is around 19.4 to 19.5. Percentiles compress at the top of the scale. Moving from a 30 to a 32 is harder than moving from a 20 to a 22 because fewer test-takers achieve elite scores. The SAT uses a different scale (400 to 1600) but a similar percentile concept. ACT and SAT scores can be compared using the official College Board concordance table.

ACT Score Verification and Hand Scoring

If you believe your ACT score is incorrect, you can request a score verification. ACT calls this Hand Scoring. The process involves a human reviewer checking your answer sheet against the scoring key. Score Verification is available up to 12 months after your test date.

1. Download the Score Verification Request form: Available on act.org under Test Scores. The form is a printable PDF.
2. Fill out the form: Use your name, address and date of birth exactly as they appear on your ACT registration.
3. Decide which sections to verify: Multiple-choice only, Writing only, or both.
4. Pay the verification fee: USD 50 for multiple-choice, USD 40 for Writing, USD 90 for both. Pay by check payable to ACT Customer Care.
5. Mail the form and payment: Send to ACT Customer Care, PO Box 414, Iowa City, IA 52243-0414, USA.
6. Wait for the result letter: ACT responds within 3 to 5 weeks of receiving your request.

If a scoring error is found, ACT corrects your score, sends updated reports to all previous score recipients at no charge, and refunds your verification fee. If no error is found, the fee is not refunded and your score remains unchanged. Indian students should consider verification only if there is a significant gap between practice scores and the official result.

ACT Hard Copy Scorecard Delivery

ACT does not automatically send hard copy score reports to Indian test-takers. The digital report in the MyACT portal is the official record. Indian universities applying through holistic admissions accept the official PDF report directly from MyACT or a verified score-send to the university.

If a university requires a hard copy, you can order Additional Score Reports through MyACT. Each additional report costs USD 20 (around ₹1,900). Reports are sent directly from ACT to the recipient university, not to you. Indian students who meet ACT eligibility criteria can also use these reports for scholarship applications.

What is a Good ACT Score for Indian Students?

A good ACT score depends on the target university. For Indian students applying to universities in the USA, a composite of 30+ opens doors to selective universities. A 33+ is competitive for Ivy League. Indian students often score higher than the US national average because they have prepared with structured coaching and mock tests. Students considering Canada can target the top Canadian universities that accept ACT scores.

The Enhanced ACT did not change the percentile distribution significantly. National norms updated for the 2025-2026 reporting year are based on graduating classes of 2023, 2024 and 2025. The 30 composite still maps to roughly the 93rd percentile.
