Postgraduate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale (about 60% Indian equivalent) from a recognised institution
- English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 61-79 (0-120 legacy scale) or IELTS 6.0-7.0 depending on programme; verify at graduate.oregonstate.edu
- WES credential verification for India-issued transcripts is mandatory
- GRE/GMAT: waived for many STEM master’s programmes since 2020; MBA still requires GMAT or GRE
Undergraduate Requirements
- Class 12 completion from a recognised board with 3.0 GPA equivalent (about 75%)
- English proficiency: IELTS 6.0 with no subscore below 5.5; TOEFL iBT 70+ (0-120 legacy scale) for Graduate Pathway; verify at admissions.oregonstate.edu

Oregon State University Acceptance Rate 2027
Oregon State University’s undergraduate acceptance rate sits at around 74.68% (estimated figure), placing it among the more accessible flagship public universities in the United States. Graduate admissions are more competitive, with departmental variation.
| Program Level | Acceptance Rate | Trend |

| Graduate (aggregate) | 31.73% (estimated figure) | Tightening in STEM programmes |

Oregon State University vs Peer Universities
The peer set below covers regional US public research universities that Indian applicants weigh alongside OSU, plus one international benchmark.
| University | QS 2027 | Acceptance Rate | Avg PG Fee (USD/INR) | Median Salary (USD/INR) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oregon State University | #711-720 | 74.68% | $26,488-$35,118 / INR 25.38-33.65 lakh | $124,000 / INR 118.80 lakh (mid-career, market median) | Strong STEM at moderate cost |
| Washington State University | #601-650 | 81% (est.) | $28,000-$36,000 / INR 26.83-34.49 lakh | $112,000 / INR 107.31 lakh (mid-career, market median) | Land-grant Pac-12 peer |
| University of Oregon | #500-510 | 85% (est.) | $29,000-$38,000 / INR 27.78-36.41 lakh | $115,000 / INR 110.18 lakh (mid-career, market median) | Stronger humanities and business |

| Colorado State University | #621-630 | 91% (est.) | $32,000-$40,000 / INR 30.66-38.32 lakh | $105,000 / INR 100.60 lakh (mid-career, market median) | Similar STEM strengths |
Oregon State stands out on median alumni salary among Pac-12 land-grant peers, backed by Pacific Northwest tech-sector proximity. Its engineering and computer science pipelines to Intel, HP, and Boeing anchor the case for Indian STEM applicants over otherwise comparable options.
Oregon State University fits the Indian applicant who wants a US STEM master’s at moderate cost, with credible outcomes in the Pacific Northwest and reliable STEM OPT pathways. Total two-year investment of about $88,000 against a market-median mid-career salary of $124,000 gives an ROI window most applicants can service on standard education loans.
Indian STEM graduates gain a 36-month STEM OPT extension, giving three years to build US work experience before H-1B sponsorship. The Indian alumni presence in Portland, Seattle, and Silicon Valley is active and helps referral-based hiring, and the Corvallis campus’s low cost of living stretches loan capital further than coastal peers.
Oregon State University is not the right pick for Indian applicants who need a QS Top 200 brand for return-to-India hiring, or who want an urban campus with heavy internship pipelines during term. In those cases, the University of Washington or Purdue University offer stronger brand recognition and metropolitan access.

- The campus was very good and had pretty good infrastructure for practical learning.
- Faculty and professors are very experienced and will help us through the learning process and it’s very easy to score good marks.
- College city is calm and peaceful which is very safe and no need to worry about the stay.
Dislikes
- The fee is too high to pay for bachelors/masters.
- Library closes at 10pm almost everyday which is not sufficient for few students.
- Health center facilities are also closed by evening and no place to go for emergencies during late nights.
Campus Life
- I think we have OSU cascades and OSU Corvallis.
- We have recreational centres like Dixon and McAlexander and other athletic gyms.
- We have a great library as well and there are many events conducted during the term all the time. There a good clubs near by which is recommended by everyone during the weekends.
- We have cultural and extra curricular activities conducted for festivals and games every year.
Fees
- It’s $12000 per term and I stayed off campus where it was almost $600 for rent and $100 for utilities and for food and stuff it would be around $250 per month.
- For overall it was almost $65000 for me to complete the entire masters course as I had part-time I was able to cover my personal expenses through that which I used to get almost $1000 every month for working 20 hours per week on campus.

- My research interests were matching with what was happening here.
- Some of the best professors are there in my university and the research is top notch. The facilities are amazing. Especially the robotics lab has some of the most sophisticated equipments that you can work with.
Dislikes
- It is not very inclusive. Some graduate advisor and professors are racist. Sometime if you get stuck with a bad advisor, it can become very stressful and traumatic. Be very careful which professor you choose as your advisor as that is very important for you to successfully complete your degree on time.
Overview
It has been a rocky ride with loads of ups and downs. The newly recruited professors are sub par. The established professors are amazing.
Campus Life
Pretty happening. There are a few clubs and periodical events happening. There are also some periods of dull without any lively campus life.

- Everything, its funded for me, stipends are provided, weather is calm , peaceful, walk even at 3 am at night. greenest city. good professors. There are many fun courses to register like swimming, boxing, karate, yoga, etc. Free gym, free groceries, and cheap houses.
Dislikes
- Lots of research work, not industry oriented, finding professors is tough, you need to complete certain amount of courses per research area. finding an advisor takes time. 3 term a year so lots of study work with less of individual effort.
Overview
Good, hard work pays off, don't get distracted much, keep improving you will eventually succeed.
Campus Life
Great, its good to be there, peaceful, organized, good people around you, library is good to study.
Overview
The program specifications aligned well with my research and career goals. The program also had a curriculum that satisfied all my needs to learn required skills. I was confident that the skills that the course would provide me would be helpful in setting my career in the field of public health
Overview
The ongoing research projects in the university aligned with my research interests.

There is an online website where you can find information on different clubs and events taking place in the campus. There is also a Student Experience Center where you can participate in various extracurricular activities.
