Course Curriculum

10

  • The courses were difficult based upon our choices. It’s a mix of theoretical and practical for almost all of them.
  • My positive aspect was practical labs for the courses and negative is the same exam structure used to give the results.
  • Classes are Mon-Thu between 9-5 and no later than that. Only few classes are scheduled on Friday.
  • Yes, they help us with tips on how to apply for jobs if we ask for their help and there are also career fairs conducted on campus.
  • I admire Arash and Margret the most for DBMS and field studies in SE and HCI subjects.
  • It depends on the subject for few classes it will be 50-80 and for few it will be 20-30.
  • Almost 30/80 were Indian during my course work.

Admission Experience

  • Oregon State University
    Umass Lowell
    University of Wisconsin
These are the colleges I have applied and admitted. I feel that academics and work experience can play a major role in getting the admission. Other than this having a good IELTS (7) and GRE (320) is good enough to land anyone in a good university.
I didn’t get any rejection for the colleges I have applied.

  • I chose this college because of the city and this college is not chosen by many foreigners so that I can engage with the people here and know their culture.
  • I applied for the college got the approval paid an advance fee got the I-20 and then attended the visa interview paid the entire fee and landed here.
  • No GRE is required but it’s optional and IELTS should be atleast 6.5
  • My admission experience was wonderful and the team at Oregon State are great they have assisted me and answered all my questions when ever I was confused or stuck between my decisions.
  • I applied for winter intake and the admission process took almost a month for receiving the admit getting the I-20 going through the fee process and stuff. I feel my academics and work experience played a major role in the admission process and I was able to get the admission because of that.
  • I got admit in August confirmed it within 10 days. Made an advance payment in September got I-20 and scheduled visa interview in November paid entire fee by the end of November and travelled to United States in December.

Faculty

10

  • Faculty to student ratio is good and we have a lot of teaching assistants in the college to answer our questions.
  • The teaching methodology of faulty was great and they have maintained good office hours to answer our doubts which was very helpful during the course work and assignments.

Campus Life

10

  • I think we have OSU cascades and OSU Corvallis.
  • We have recreational centres like Dixon and McAlexander and other athletic gyms.
  • We have a great library as well and there are many events conducted during the term all the time. There a good clubs near by which is recommended by everyone during the weekends.
  • We have cultural and extra curricular activities conducted for festivals and games every year.

Part Time Jobs

  • To secure TA/RA we have to prove our academics to the professors and reach out to them to show our interest and most of the times it will be filled and it’s a bit difficult to get into those positions.
  • Pay range is almost $1500 per month for TA/RA and it varies for different departments.
  • There are several jobs on campus like dining centres or software developers and other roles as well which pays a minimum of $15 per hour.
  • It’s very easy to secure a campus part time.
  • It’s 15 per hour and it’s very easy to apply and get the job online before starting the course work. We have to apply on campus portal and we will get a response within a week for the job interview and they will just check our communication skills which is required to manage the customers and almost everyone will get the on campus job as the interviews are very easy.

Placement

8

  • Almost 80% of the people will secure a full time job after completion of their course.
  • Average salary may be $85000 based upon their experience and most of the times jobs are applied on portals like LinkedIn, Indeed and then through networking.
  • My friends got placed through referrals or rejoining the same company they have worked before masters and other roles.
  • It’s intel, HP and Nike that’s in Oregon where we may get hired if we have good experience.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I found accommodation through one of the students who was already there.
  • Monthly rent+utilities was 650 for a private room.
  • It was hard to find roommates for the entire house and based on that we were unable to find a house sufficient to the people who are willing to stay.
  • In future I would recommend reaching out to people on LinkedIn and getting added into WhatsApp groups will definitely help.
  • My accommodation was 10 min walk to the campus and we have free transportation so by bus it will be 2 minutes.

Exams

  • Only IELTS is required with a minimum of 6.5 remaining exams are optional but may add weightage to your application.
  • Statement of Purpose, LOR and CV all of them are required and should mention everything about our academic and professional experience and detail how passionate we are to pursue the masters in the specified major.
  • No there was no interview for the admission process it was just the documents and SOP, LOR and CV.

Fees

  • It’s $12000 per term and I stayed off campus where it was almost $600 for rent and $100 for utilities and for food and stuff it would be around $250 per month.
  • For overall it was almost $65000 for me to complete the entire masters course as I had part-time I was able to cover my personal expenses through that which I used to get almost $1000 every month for working 20 hours per week on campus.

Scholarship

  • Yeah, there are a few scholarships for people from abroad.
  • One of them is academic scholarship where if you get 3.7 CGPA or above after your pathway you will receive $5000 scholarship per year. If we get 3.5 or above you will receive $3500 per year.
  • Other one is International Student Scholarships where we have to apply manually and we will get $7500 per year if we get approved.
