So I wanted an IIM Tag, it really didn't matter be it new, baby or old, one definitely prefers old, but it is not feasible for many. So I chose the one nearby me and the one where I thought it'd be easy to commute from home to.

Various guest lectures from industry corporate
conclaves and industry insights that the lecturers provided

Dislikes

travel time from college to hostel was sometimes frustrating
the location of the hostel where convenience was an issue
the infrastructure was in progress so we had to attend sometimes in a temporary college

Admission:

This college had the locational advantage and was mentored my IIM Trichy. Its faculties during my time were pHd scholars. Although I cleared 5 IIM's but the placement reports gave me a clearer picture of the year on year growth for this institute

IIM Amritsar - The Holy IIM, but know the truths before you enter

Likes

The learnings and exposure were great, faculty was top-notch, placement committee was not toxic.
The accommodation was great as of now as we were in transit campus.
There are certain webinars taking place every now and then with industry experts, these experiences have been great.

Dislikes

Placement opportunities majorly came for sales roles, no accountability taken up.
Food of the mess was not good at all, only a single dish on sunday i.e. Chhole Kulche used to be great.
The overall night life of the city was not good, people were rude and cabs would hardly take you to the desired places

Admission:

So I wanted to get into an IIM because of the hype, I didn't even apply to the rest of the private players in the market, as the brand value of IIMs is something that's kind of irreplaceable in India as of now.

Placement support from college was really good. As there was problem in the job market the placements post MBA for all the colleges were having problems but IIM Amritsar helped the students with placement support in every was possible
Good interaction with the faculties and the faculties are very helpful.
Hostel provided are very spacious and comfortable for stay.

Dislikes

The campus for the college is not yet ready so the students have to travel through bus form hostel to campus to attend lec which can be hectic as the lectures are being spread throughout the day.
Very few inhouse faculty staying long term here. Most of the faculty here are visiting.
The Buses provided for the transit from hostel to college are not in good condition which can be a hassle as students have to travel almost 1 hr daily by bus

Admission:

The parameter for choosing this college was that it was an IIM and secondly it was the top third generation IIM which I was selected for. The admission process was post filling the form there was an interview round and the merit list was released based on the interview.

You have give CAT exam then you might get interview call based on your CAT score. IIM amritsar separately conducts interview which is not inclued with other 2nd and 3rd gen IIMs. There will be probably 2 professors.

Himachal is just few hours from the hostels so we used to enjoy our weekend in Himachal
Supportive faculties, like there are some faculties which are really supportive and will help you in any situation

Dislikes

Low quality transportation- The buses hired for transporation doesnt have AC, they are very poor standard buses.
The distance between College Campus and Hostel is 12km. So travelling is big issue. Poor Campus Infrastructure

Admission:

I had applied for all the IIMs, got calls from some new IIMs. There were Multiple reason behind choosing the IIM Amritsar. 1. My best Option among all the call i received 2. Rapidly Growing 3. Decent Placements - The Average Package is around 16 L. 4. Location wise good, Close to Himachal and Delhi as well. 5. Talked to few students who were studying and asked about their feedback.

85 percentile above Mine was 97.77. Wanted to pursue MBA BA Form fees 1000/- General engineer male fresher Interview was okish, was not expecting a call. Questions mostly from graduation subjects Course is fast paced and exams are held every month

The environment of the college really helps you get ready to face the corporate world after the degree.
The faculty, staff, senior and peers are all very helpful and supportive.

Admission:

Any candidate needs to clear the CAT percentile for the given IIM and then clear the interview process. A candidate can belong to any of the diverse educational backgrounds. There are necessary reservations according to government norms.

Some of the faculties are really good and cooperative
The placement scenario is quite decent for a Newer IIM.

Dislikes

We are currently operating out of a temporary campus and it will take two more years for our permanent campus to get build.

Admission:

The minimum CAT score required for General Category students was 85%ile to be eligible for the interview call. Based on several other factors such as past academic performance, gender diversity, and CAT percentile an interview shortlist is prepared which is released around the 2nd to 3rd week of January in the admission year. The fee to accept the interview offer was INR 1000 in 2022, the application form is sent to the eligible students by the institute in the email id they have provided in the CAT form. The admission process is quite transparent and I don't see a reason to change it.

Opt in once permanent campus builds

Likes

Hostel life, Faculties, Class Discussions.
Ample opportunities to learn, grow and network.
Interaction with students coming from diverse backgrounds.

Dislikes

Daily transit from Hostel to College is unbearable.
Strict rule on attendance (80%), else grade drops.
Not an immersive learning experience due to teachers not living near hostels.

Admission:

Through CAT score. I was probably the last person to clear the waitlist. Apply on their website, give PI, and the results. Weightage is also given to academic diversity (non-engineering background), gender diversity (females), and work ex.

It is possible to achieve a high percentile in the CAT exam, such as 99+, and still not receive an invitation from any Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). This is because a high percentile alone is not always sufficient for guaranteed acceptance.

It is important to note that IIMs take into consideration a candidate's overall academic performance since the 10th standard and not just their CAT percentile. Additionally, candidates must also clear the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Furthermore, candidates from an engineering background may have a slight disadvantage in terms of points.

Some IIMs also place a significant emphasis on work experience.

As per the analysis and this year's cutoff, you might not get the IIM Amritsar. IIM Amritsar Cutoff is around 88 percentile for the general category candidates. IIM Amritsar admission 2024 follows a two-step process i.e. Analytical Writing Test (AWT) & Personal Interview (PI). However, IIMs do not release the CAT cutoffs in the public domain. However you can get the LPU, IILM Graduate School of Management, GLBIMR, Sharda University School of Business Studies, etc.
