Which is a better option for studying statistics, St. Xavier's College, Kolkata or Presidency University, Kolkata?

Both colleges are great options for studying statistics. Presidency University has a glorious history and the department of Statistics is one of the best departments. The university has great alumni which makes it score higher in terms of ‘Heritage’. One of the most famous names among them is P.C. Mahalanobis. There are dedicated faculty members like Prof. BR and Prof. PD, who is an alumnus himself. One of my friends has Statistics as his electives but he never got the chance to be taught by these reputed faculty members. Students are highly dedicated and excels in their respective university exams. Graduates from this college pursued post-graduate studies from reputed universities like ISI, CMI, IMSc, etc. If you have Honours in Statistics with Mathematics and Economics, then it will be a great combination. In terms of environment, you will get a sense of freedom at Presidency and a change to form a opinion on various aspects of life. However, St. Xavier’s College is also good but it is very strict and you will get a feel of school there. It is known for its discipline while Presidency University is know for its creativity.

PRESIDENCY: THE DREAM LIFE

Fees and Financial Aid:

Admission fees is nearly 5k(1st semester fees included) After that per semeseter fees(exam fees) is 1225. We don't have any such scholarship, but poor meritirious students may get a scholarship from the university(handsome amount but very limited offered seat)

Being a Presidencian !

The fees is extremely low and affordable, for bsc stats, it's 2000 per semester(approx.). Even the hostel fees is quite low, while the hostel facilities are excellent. There are many scholarships available, based on 10+2 result, semester result, family income, caste reservations etc.

Presidency : home for dreams.

The Cost to study is average still it's high for marginalised students. In each semester students have to pay 1200 rupees as semester fees. I think this cost must be cut too low. I get an SVMCM scholarship in the first year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is a updated, but it has been somewhat shortened, due to lack of time. The academics are also good. The faculties are excellent, and they're very helpful in all the terms. The overall environment for studies is very nice here.
