Department of Higher Education has launched the portal for West Bengal Centralised Admission 2025 for admission to 2025-26 session. The WB counselling dates 2025 are out on the official website wbcap.in. WB CAP 2025 Phase 1 seat allotment list for the upgrade round will be out on August 31, 2025 (after 5 PM).
- Download WB CAP 2025 seat allotment and merit list on the official website, on the Student Login using User ID and Password.
- Based on the schedule, the WBCAP 2025 Phase 2 (Mop-Up Round) starts on September 10, 2025. The Phase 2 merit list and allotment list will be out on September 16, 2025.
WB CAP 2025 manages admission to the Undergraduate Courses in 16 Universities and 461 Government and Government-aided affiliated Colleges/ Higher Educational Institutions through this portal. To be eligible for the counselling process, the candidates must qualify for 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board.
Interested candidates must register online on the WB CAP portal, create a profile, and upload relevant documents to participate in the counselling process. WB CAP 2025 merit list will be generated for institution and courses. Candidates will be alloted seats based on their highest preference, rank, and seat availability. There will be opportunity to upgrade to a higher available preference based on vacancy.
The counselling process for undergraduate in general degree courses for the 2025-26 academic year will be conducted in two phases. After completing the process, the admission authority decided to fill the vacant position in individual colleges in a standalone mode.

What is WB CAP 2025?
Bratya Basu, Education Minister of West Bengal, announced a centralised admission process for undergraduate courses in state-run universities. This new admission process was conducted through a common portal wbcap.in from June 17, 2025. Through this centralised admission process, candidates could take admission in 461 colleges and 16 universities.
The education minister stated that the new system would eliminate the problem of students with high marks taking multiple seats across different colleges. Through this portal, students could apply to a maximum of 25 undergraduate courses, out of the 7217 courses available in the system.

WB UG Eligibility Criteria 2025
The Department of Higher Education of West Bengal has determined several conditions for admission under WB UG Eligibility Criteria 2025. For admission to B. Sc. (Hons.), candidates must have studied and passed Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry/Biology in the qualifying examination.

Each institute will release a separate WB CAP Cutoff 2025 for each course. Candidates can check the WB CAP 2025 cutoff on the official website.
How Many People Applied Through WB CAP Portal 2025?
More than 5 lakh students applied through the West Bengal Centralised Admission Portal 2025. Among them around 4 lakh students got selected for admission into 477 institutions in Kolkata. This means around 1 lakh students could not get admission into their desired colleges. Considering the number of DHE, West Bengal has decided to take admission for general courses till September 30, 2025. For this process, concerned candidates have to visit their desired colleges' websites and apply for the vacant seats.
