Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

I liked the Education as well as the Faculties facilities
Our Campus size is also attractive and good
Girls to Boys ratio is around 1 to 3 and it is quite good

Dislikes

I didn't liked the restrictions imposed by the authorities
I didn't liked class schedule and sports facilities
I didn't liked the students ratio and leave facilities

Placement Experience:

Our College has very good placement scenario with average placement ranging from 5LPA to 10LPA and the Current highest package of previous year is 71Lakhs Per Annum, so we have good on Campus placements too

Likes

Big campus, great infrastructure, excellent hostel facilities and moderately good good.

Placement Experience:

The placements in the previous year had been excellent especially in my branch having a great placement percentage. Apple recently visited the campus. The highest package was 81 lpa. My plans after getting the degree is getting a job a good job

The Professor and the vibrant campus along with the classroom experience.

Dislikes

The hectic schedule and study pressure in the college. Our college mainly focuses on academics utmost.

Placement Experience:

From 6th semester, Students get eligible for the campus placement. Our college is one of the fortune College where Apple visit for on campus internship and placement. Along with flipkart ,Amazon, Cisco, TCS, Wipro ect also visit the campus for placement.

NIT Durgapur at a glance

Likes

College life : academic stress is very less in NIT Durgapur
Research : Our college constructed a 12 floor building just for research
Professor: Most of the professor are friendly and have a great indepth knowledge of the subject.

Dislikes

Infrastructure: As our college is old, the infrastructure is not very great, the hostels are very old
Labs : the condition of the labs are outdated.
Gender ratio : It is less when compared to private colleges, 1:5

Placement Experience:

In 2024 75% of the students fot campus placement rest choose to opt for further studies and offcampus placements. Major recruiting bodies include Microsoft Google texas instruments reliance, apple and many more. Like in 2023 Microsoft recruited 38 students from our college with a package of 55 lacs. 26 students got offers from JPMC for about 18lacs.

Should you join NIT Durgapur

The bond between professor and students are very good and all the faculty members are cooperative. Any type of leave due to internship is provided without any hesitation. Any demand from student side is taken good care.
Second thing is student body is present there so any problem like opening time of stall or anything else is easily chargeable.
The hotel rooms for visitors or for our parents is very good and very cheap. So the parents whom house is very far, can stay there. Food in this hotels are also very good and healthy. Then charge for this rooms are 500 per day.

Dislikes

Roads and college hostel should be more better. During rain water flows through roads and very hard for us to go any where from our hostels. Some time our classes are suspended due to raining. And during rainy season many decease are occur.
Our medical facility is very bad. Medicine is not there in medical unit. We have to buy it from outside and there is no oxygen cylinder as well. Also its very hard to claim your medical insurance.
And now comes mess food. Its just disgusting and very unhealthy. And you have to pay 19000 for mess food compulsory. And this money giving is not worth it.

Placement Experience:

From 3rd year, 5th semester students are eligible for on campus internship process. And you can get pre placement offer after completion of your internship. And from 7th semester, 4th year you are eligible for full time on campus placement. There are many companies like microsoft, ZS, tata, L&T, JSW, JSL, maruti, amdocs, pepsico, reshmi group, visa steel, zenpact, adobe, accenture, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, PWC, Adani, uber etc. There are more than 150+ companies like this. Highest package is 56 lpa offered by microsoft. And average package is 7 lpa. 75 percent students are placed in every year. As I get job in L&T as graduate engineer trainee so i want to learn things from this company. And if possible i want to join in automobile industry in future.

Good college life

Likes

The college campus is very good. We have very well designed infrastructure, labs, hostel, playground for UG candidates. Our college have newly built auditorium of accommodation of around 1000 seats for various cultural programs.
We also have good classroom of accommodation of around 120 to 250 students. Our classroom consist of smart boards, mic setup, projector.
Our college placement is very well and is improving over the years. The highest placement of the last year went around 75 lpa and an average of 7-8 lpa which is considered good.

Dislikes

The classroom needs improvement like sometimes our mic didn't work and it is very hard to listen to teachers while seating in back benches.
The hostel for other than ug candidates is not well designed so it needs improvement in infrastructure.
The mess food is not upto the marks. Sometimes we get hairs in our food. And they put a huge amount of oil in vegetable so it is very unhygienic to consume.

Placement Experience:

In 4th year of btech course the campus placement starts and in 3rd year students are eligible for internship . Companies like wipro,atlassians,L&T take students for placement exams.The average package is around 8-9 lpa and the highest package went around 75 lakhs in recent in our college. Around 70-80 percent students got placed in our college.

For 3rd year students internships are available and from 7th sem onwards students become eligible for the campus placements. Over 150 companies visit our campus for placement and almost 85% students get placed every year.

A glimpse into my college life.

Likes

Reputation of college, high placement percentages and great average packages
Enviornment of college and vastness. Peaceful environment which sets great mood.
Library is very useful and campus life is good here.

Dislikes

I think some of our professors have no subject. They may have experience but they don't know how to teach and all.
We don't feel it like a engineering college. Restrictions are huge like hell, we are in feeling of school.
As of now, we still completed first semester so we noticed this much as we do not involve in any kind of placements and training.

Placement Experience:

As mentioned early, our college placements and ranking was good. I think from 5th or 6th semester, our campus starts taking placements but effective placements will be done from 7th semester. Placements percentage was more than 80 to 90%. I think it is more than 90% also. Our campus record was 70 lpa and average was around 12 lpa overall.

Campus is so beautiful and full of greenery. Our Campus size is 187 acres which is moderate in size and found no difficulty to reach from hostel to classroom.
Our College 's girl boy ratio is good. approximately is 1:5.Our college encourages girl's power. Our college professors is so nice, humble and well qualified. Our seniors are also very helpful.
Our college has a dedicated training and placement cell which ensures for every eligible and qualified students to grab the job and internship. Our college not only provide academic excellence but also provide cultural excellence.

Dislikes

Our college has so much restrictions especially for First year undergraduate students. They are not allowed to explore even the campus.
Our College authority is very strict towards rules. They can take strict action if anybody found guilty of breaking the rules of college
Our college professors are so gentle and humble but in case of marks evaluation they are very strict.They deduct marks for very minor mistakes.

Placement Experience:

Our college has a dedicated training and placement cell which ensures every eligible and qualified students to grabs interships and jobs opportunities. From 5th semester our college provide intership opportunities for every eligible students. Our college has fantastic placement records in terms of package and percentage of students select. Very famous and renowned companies visits our college in every year examples like Google Facebook Microsoft Amazon Wipro Infosys TCS Flipkart And psus like- Indian Oil ONGC Bharat Petroleum HPCL. Our college placement records can be easily found on our college websites. If we talks about session 2024-25 Highest package offered was 51LPA And average package was 7.35LPA And overall placement percentage was 72percent In 2023 highest package was 70LPA. And placement percentage 72.

Placement Experience:

From 5th semester students are eligible for summer internships followed by Pre-placement offer and from 7th semester students are eligible for full time placements. Some companies are- Microsoft, Apple, salesforce, adobe, Accenture, infosys, tcs, Reliance, Hindustan petroleum corporation limited, zscaler, quantiphi, Maq software, Hero, Larsen and Toubro, Hyundai etc. Offers made till date are around 500. highest package is 80LPA and average is 7 LPA. percentage of students getting placements is around 70-75% My plan is doing my job IT job for 4 years after that I can switch for better oppourtunities.

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
