Why is the cutoff of IIIT Allahabad considerably low (around 5k), even if it can be compared to top notch institutions like IITs?

There are several reasons for the low cutoffs of IIIT Allahabad. These are- No Home State Quota- IIITA doesn’t have a home state quota for its seats. So the seat availability for students from across India increases, and the cutoffs get lowered. Almost double the seats in IT as compared to the NITs- IIITA offers more than 200 seats for the IT branch. Alongside this, there are two integrated M.Tech programs for IT. This allows for more IT seats at IIITA than the CSE seats at NITT and NITW combined. This is another reason for a lower cutoff for the IT stream. Without any strong reasons, students prefer CSE over IT. A strong inclination among the students for studying in their Home NITs. The old NITs were established much before IIIT Allahabad. This is why IIIT Allahabad has low cutoffs for its B.Tech courses even though it is a top institute of India.

Why is the cutoff rank of the IIIT Allahabad IT branch so low (4550 as of 2017) when it is comparable to CS in other NITs and some IITs?

My younger sister has enrolled in the CSE program at NIT and it has excellent facilities for the program. The brand name of NIT and IIT is still more popular for some of the engineering aspirants because they lack awareness. Even my sister thought so before admissions, but NIT ranks #16 on the NIRF Engineering scale, IIIT A ranks #103, and IITs are usually in the top 5 in the same. Furthermore, your decision may change based on the following- The location of IIIT Allahabad is a factor contributing to its low popularity. It is located in a small village area called Jhalwa. There are no recreational facilities around and the only eating outlets are MacDonalds and Dominoes, which harm in the long run. The placement statistics of IIIT A show that it has a good 96% placement rate, but not many top companies come to visit because of the location. Networking is not an issue, but an institute in a developed area would have easy accessibility, lectures by renowned faculty, spots of refreshment; which are not present here. The hostels are not very good and those who reside in them, face difficulties related to social outings. Another fact of importance is that this institute has only two departments: Information Technology and Electronics and Communication. What should be my AIR in JEE Mains to get a B.Tech in IT at IIIT Allahabad?

It has been ranked among top 100 best engineering colleges in India by NIRF, 2020. So clearly getting into IIIT-A will be quite difficult. The latest statistics show that you must be ranked below 5K in IIT-JEE Main in order to get into B.Tech in IT if you fall under OBC category. This margin falls down to 400 if you belong to the general category. Business Informatics was chosen by one of my friends at IIIT Allahabad. So, I will be able to share some of his experiences. The course mainly focuses on business and technology domains. The faculty is very helpful and supportive and you feel like home here. Placements: The branch was established in 2019 which is why there are currently no placement statistics. However, you can assume that they are almost the same as IT, because after all, its an IT branch, and then BI as a specialisation. You dont need to worry about placements, because its really a worthy discipline. Cutoffs: If you are in the general category, the cut-off was approximately 7100 according to the last year. Perhaps this year also the cut-off will be similar due to low deviation. The Cut-off stats of 2020 of JEE Mains by NTA are as follows: GEN 70.24 Other Backward Classes (OBC) 72.88 Scheduled Caste (SC) 50.17 Scheduled Tribe (ST) 39.06 The institute’s course curriculum covers all subjects of the IT branch, plus one additional subject for BI. It will be quite difficult for you to cope up with all the subjects but if you work hard then it will be easier for you.

For someone with a rank of about 20k on the JEE Main, is there any scope in IIITM or IIIT Allahabad (Amethi Campus)?

IIIT Allahabad and IIITM Gwalior both colleges give admission based on JEE Main cut-off ranks. As per the latest data the cut-offs are below. I likes the percentage of placements which is close to 100% which means almost all students get placed each year
I liked the Average Package of IIIT Allahabad which is around 30 lakhs

Each day is very hectic for a student. Especially 2nd year
Sports facility is not available in good conditions

I applied to NIT's and IIT's but i chose IIIT because of its strong focus on IT, top placements and advanced curriculum. I was offered ECE in NIT Surathkal but i wanted IT or CS branch. I also got offers from IIT's but the branches were not that i wanted.

One of the Best colleges for B.Tech through JEE Mains

One of the best placement. It offers one of the best placement
one of the best coding culture. it promote awesome coding culture.

Location of college, college is located in remote area
Costly and only 3 courses for undergraduate

I choose this college for two reasons mainly. First is College placement and second is its coding culture. It offers one of the best placement which is at par with any Tier-1 college in India. It also gives you good environment for coding. The admission is done through JOSAA councelling on the basis of your JEE MAINs score. There are different range of cut-off rank required for each branch.

I like the infrastructure, cleanliness maintained in the campus
Placement wise it is good.Many companies visit campus for placements

Course is too hectic.No time for extracurriculars

During josaa counselling, I choosed to put IIIT Allahabad at the top because I heard that overall placements are good.I applied for NIT warangal cs too but couldn't get it because of rank cutoff. So I proceeded with IIIT Allahabad.

LIFE AT IIITA

Good placements if you work a lil hard you will definitely crack a good package
Mess food is nice you won’t find any difficulty

Coding culture is very dominant so everybody is into coding and sometimes it gets too hectic
Not that a big campus so you can’t find new places all the time

This college is very good with respect to placements and internship my jee rank was around 13k therefore I chose this college and I don't regret coming here . And the cutoff for this college is also very high

Lab,classroom are fully Airconditioner,Lab is open uptill 12am that's why best place for study other than room
Mess are also good ,food quality is good -Non veg also given

Fees is too much high for obc and ews category -no exemption in college fees on economic bases
Boys hostel is not inside the campus ,it is outside the campus

First of all placment is TOP NOTCH and also just take 2 hour to reach IIITA from my home and here i get ece and this is best choice on my crl IIITA is small campus in comparison of NIT/ IIT and there is just 3 brach ECE IT IT-BI,college is much fore focussed in academic area i had filled MNNIT IT and IIITA IT but rank is not much as i get easily admission process is too easy there is portal of college erp IIITA where you upload your fees and document and just verify by college by physical reporting .After reporting and verified by college u had given ID card and thats over exam is JEE MAIN cut off for sc 96+ percentile for obc 98+ percentile for feneral 99+ percentile

Everything about IIIT Allahabad from mess, hostel to internships and placements.

The strength in IIITA for IT is 350 which takes coding culture to next level.
Research and development activities are inclined towards IT sector which may help in future.

There is only one ground for cricket and football.
Less support is provided for extra curricular

The admission process is not very difficult and hectic as different branches are assigned different timings. The admission is taken through JEE Mains and DASA. Cut-off of JEE mains for general category is nearly 5000 or below rank. Admissions are done through Josaa counselling. All caste reservations in India are considered also there is special reservation for girls.

Life at IIIT ALLAHABAD

Less number of students as compared to other colleges.
Sports facilities are very good as compared to other IIITs

The time table of classes gets hectic sometimes
A lot of examinations, quizzes and practicals

The eligibility is according to josaa rules. Youu need to appear for jee mains and score extremely good. The cutoff for general male for last year was 5942 that is 99.5 percentile in jee mains. Admission can also be through csab

As per the previous analysis of the JEE mains cutoff of IIIT Allahabad, your percentile might not be sufficient for the Btech admissions. But, you may get the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Noida Institute of engineering and technology, Sharda University, KIET, etc with various specializations.

Yes, JoSAA has released Cutoff 2024 and Rounds 1-6 Seat allotment for IIIT Allahabad. The percentile for General males is 99.2, and for females is 98.6, for EWS males is 99, for females 98.5, OBC males 98.7 females are 98, SC males 96.3 females are 95.

Yes, IIIT Allahabad just like any other Central Funded Institute accepts CAT scores for admission to MBA program, followed by a GD and PI. The scores of CAT 2023 will remain valid till December 2024 for admission process. For that you must have passed UG degree with 65% (55% for reserved categories) to be eligible for admission.
