Boards 75% criteria
What are the subjects required for 75% criteria for boards? Is pcm + english + optional subject compulsory or we can choose our best 5 subjects?(excluding p/c/m) the sources online are confusing as well. Has anyone taken admission in NIT/IIIT/IIT with his preference of subjects for 75% criteria?

    Pcm+English+optional subject is the criteria

Help needed (College Selection)
# JEE Mains 2025 – 98.7%ile (~20,000 CRL) | Need Help Shortlisting Colleges Hi everyone, I recently appeared for **JEE Mains 2025** and secured a **percentile of \~98.7**, which gives me a **CRL rank around 20,000** (± a few ranks). I’m trying to figure out the best possible options I have, especially after **JoSAA** and **CSAB** rounds, and would love to hear your thoughts. # Branch Preferences * I don’t have a strict branch preference, but I’d **prefer a 4-year circuital branch** (CSE, ECE, EE, etc.). * **Not keen on non-core branches** like Civil or Mining for various reasons (interest, placements, etc.). * Open to flexible or interdisciplinary options if the college reputation and peer group are strong. Colleges I’ve Shortlisted So Far 1. **IIITs** – Mixed opinions here. Some (like IIIT Gwalior, Jabalpur, etc.) seem promising, but I’m unsure about long-term value vs. NITs. 2. **DTU (EE)** and **NSUT (ECE)** – Hoping for upgradations here through later rounds. 3. **NITs** – I want to avoid most North Eastern ones due to location concerns, but **NIT Silchar** is still under consideration. 4. **BIT Mesra** – Again, mixed reviews. Good brand but varied placement reports. # Not Considering * **VITEEE** – Got around 7,000 rank but not planning to join (too many concerns around transparency, fees, and value). * **Private Tier-2 colleges** unless absolutely necessary. # What I Need Help With * Which **IIITs/NITs are worth it** at this rank? Any hidden gems? * Should I **prefer DTU/NSUT over newer IIITs/NITs**? * Any colleges I might have **missed** that are **underrated but great** for ECE/EE/CSE? * Is **BIT Mesra** worth considering for CSE in 2025? * Would it be smarter to **wait for CSAB** rounds or lock in something safer early? Any genuine feedback, suggestions, or personal experiences are appreciated. Thanks in advance (Speaking of it, it was a disaster not feeling good about advanced, not much expectations) and best of luck to everyone out there!

imo getting a cse/ece in an homestate NIT would be best.just check acc to or-cr of josaa and make your bucket list. Except top IIITs(H,B,A,D) not advisable to go for IIITs. Prefer an NIT

What should I do?
So I am a jee 2027 aspirant, few weeks ago I was very unstable in my prep but now , i would not say my prep is excellent but its going good or meh. My uncle (he's really good, dont frame his as those typical uncles, he always gives reasonable advices, and i have been living with him for around 10 years) has been telling me repeatedly from past weeks to quit jee as the jobs are not much secure for engineers anymore due to AI,etc which i agree with , and my parents are saying same thing now. They are not pressurising me but advising me , also my family ig would not be able to pay fees of iiit/nit etc as even if they pay for me, I have a sibling too so he might get in trouble when he needs fees for any institutes, Also I belong to a religious minority of india(muslim from kashmir), so I am in little danger even after the job too as we are beaten up everywhere , and most engineers from rural areas get jobs in other states Now I am thinking and considering to leave jee.,and probably do neet , or something else ,but I also do not want to leave jee, now if I speak about my passion , i really didn't like engineering but just some hefty money attracted to me but helping people medically would make me feel better:) , is this the right decision? Or not?

Bro just follow your passion whether NEET/JEE .If you fear about AI ,in MBBS also you get good salary only after specializations and if you think of government doctor job less seats and more competition.Every field has both black and white areas but if you understand the competition and work hard to be in top you can succeed everything. If you feel helping people medically you found your passion .join NEET.

How are these northeastern NITs like Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal pradesh or Manipur.
Well through csab i might be getting these northeastern NITs, i want mechanical or civil branch otherwise i would have gone to IIITs through csab but there's only CSE or ECE, that's why i might be getting these NITs Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh or Manipur, cz i have scored less in mains, I'm from bihar. So I'm asking for suggestion should i go for these or should i change my options to IIITs or GFTIs dues to distance problem or cz they are northeastern. Anyone give me suggestions or ideas..

People who are not studying from IIT/NIT.... does it still hurts somewhere deep knowing that you can never be an IITian.
We all wanted to be IITian... no matter what we say now that skills matter, NIT/IIT does make little difference, you have to work hard, you can succeed in life later...etc, etc... But that dream which we saw, it still hurts right? I don't know about you guys....but it will forever hurt me...like whenever someone will talk about IITs and all it will still hold same pain, even if I will do good later in life. It was my childhood dream.

IIITA vs MNNIT
which is bigger brand and what top companies come in one and not the other... Also International reach. Tell which one is better? Dont say none..

I feel IIITA to be bigger brand in tech. Uncles aunties may feel any NIT.

Don't join VNIT, it's not as good as you think
I am a fourth year student here with a great cgpa and I might get placed well but the opportunities I got were way less than someone from other NITs or even some IIITs. Let me tell you all the things about VNIT: 1. Placements - Microsoft, Adobe, DE Shaw, Atlassian, Amazon, Nutanix, Barclays, Salesforce, etc. none of these companies hire from our college. But some of these companies do hire from IIIT Lucknow, the college which was established in 2016. 2. Coding culture - non existent, all technical clubs are dead. Only active club is IvLabs which is a robotics and AI club which is goated but apart from this there is nothing. Only 20-30 students per year are in this club. There is severe competition to get in as everyone knows this is the only technical clubs here. Others are as good as non existing. Hardly 2 people are expert on codeforces and 30 active people giving contests. Most of whom are passed out students already working in Oracle, google. Compare this with NIT Allahabad or IIITs, they have 100s of students doing cp and they are well trained by the faculty and seniors. 3. Arrogant professors and poor administration: this is the glaring weakness of VNIT which is beyond repair. If you think this doesn't matter, think twice. If at all you are unlucky and need something done from the professor or admin, then all the best convincing them. They will take 10-15 days for a 1/2 hour task. 4. Weird Rules : No 6m internships. There is the NEP but then all the best convincing your faculty advisor for letting you register 8 theory courses for faster completion of degree. 100% attendance rule - so all your medical certificates have no use, it accounts for only 25% of the attendance. You meet with an accident? Get a semester back, easy peasy. Doesn't matter if you have 9+ cgpa. Though most professors have this rule relaxed but what if you end up with a sadist professor. I genuinely think someone might commit suicide in the upcoming years and they will have to scrap this rule. Similar incident happened in IIT Guwahati and Roorkee. College administration doesn't seem to learn 5. Hot weather and bad hostels - weather is not really a fault of VNIT but some of the hostels are really old and khandar types. There is a some corruption involved in the hostel allocation so if you don't have connections, all the best when you end up in 1990 hostel and the hostel council members somehow end up in a newly constructed hostel. Here are some of the pros: 1. Great campus 2. Internet connectivity, 24/7 water and electricity. 3. Spacious rooms for first years atleast. single room for next 3 years. 4. Get into IvLabs(robotics club) and have a CSE, ECE, EEE or Mech branch and be sorted. Students get great internships OFF CAMPUS from this club and get into top US universities like CMU, USC, UMich and some crack GATE. They make a lot of projects. But only 20 seats every year. 5. If you have a branch till Mech, you will atleast get a first job. Good if you don't care about the salary package. So I guess the cons outweigh the pros so take a wise decision.

JMI CS DS vs IIITs ECE
I am confused between these options due to IIITs sus placement and hostel issues in some of them.
