AI-Generated Summary based on 2 Reviews

Admission to this college is managed through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling process, a streamlined single-window system. Seats are allocated based on TNEA cutoff marks and ranks, and successful candidates must visit the college with their certificates and fees to finalize admission and hostel arrangements. The college boasts a highly qualified faculty, with some members holding doctorate degrees and employing effective teaching methods. Placement opportunities are on the rise, particularly with Chennai's top pharmacy companies participating in the recruitment process at Bharathidasan Institution of Technology, Anna University (AUBIT). Alumni have successfully secured jobs, and referrals from former students are beneficial. Internships are offered to all students, though details from first-year students are limited. Scholarships are available, including an annual 10,000 scholarship and specific support for SC/ST students residing in hostels. Additional scholarships target farmers and support various projects, while state and central government schemes further assist students.

Financial aid, including scholarships and loans, is also available for those advancing from BE to ME programs.

AUBIT BE Civil Engineering FAQs

Ques. What are the career options after B.E. Civil Engineering from AUBIT?

Ans. B.E. Civil Engineering graduates from AUBIT have diverse career options. In the government sector, they can appear for TNPSC AE (Assistant Engineer), UPSC ESE (Engineering Services Examination), TNPSC Group I/II, and PSU recruitment through GATE (ONGC, BHEL, NTPC, etc.). In the private sector, opportunities exist in construction companies, infrastructure firms, real estate developers, and consulting firms. Graduates can also pursue M.E./M.Tech in Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering through TANCET or GATE for higher career prospects.

Ques. Is AUBIT a good college for Civil Engineering? What is the placement scenario?

Ans. AUBIT is a government constituent college of Anna University, which gives it strong credibility and recognition. The Civil Engineering department has a decent placement record, with students placed in construction and infrastructure companies. However, like most government colleges, a significant number of Civil Engineering graduates opt for higher studies or government sector jobs rather than campus placements. The college's overall highest package for 2024-25 was Rs. 8.4 LPA. For Civil Engineering specifically, government job preparation (TNPSC AE, UPSC ESE) is a popular career path among students.

Ques. What is the hostel fee for Civil Engineering students at AUBIT?

Ans. Hostel accommodation at AUBIT is optional and not mandatory. The hostel fee for 2026-27 is approximately Rs. 34,800 per year (including establishment charges, caution deposit, and mess advance), with mess fees charged separately at approximately Rs. 3,000 per month. The college has separate hostels for boys and girls within the campus. Rooms typically accommodate 3-6 students. Students who prefer to stay outside can find PG accommodations near the campus at rents ranging from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 5,000 per month.

Ques. Can I pursue M.Tech after B.E. Civil Engineering from AUBIT? What exams do I need?

Ans. Yes, B.E. Civil Engineering graduates from AUBIT can pursue M.E./M.Tech in various specialisations. For admission to M.E./M.Tech programmes in Tamil Nadu (including AUBIT's own M.E. programmes), candidates need to appear for TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test). For admission to IITs, NITs, and other central institutions, GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score is required. AUBIT itself offers M.E. programmes in related fields. Many graduates also pursue M.S. (by research) or Ph.D. programmes.

Ques. Does AUBIT Civil Engineering have NAAC/NBA accreditation?

Ans. AUBIT (University College of Engineering, BIT Campus) is a constituent college of Anna University, which is NAAC accredited. The individual departments may have NBA accreditation. Students are advised to check the latest accreditation status from the official AUBIT website (aubit.edu.in) or the Mandatory Disclosure document available on the website. The college's Mandatory Disclosure (updated March 2025) is available on the official website for reference.

Ques. What is the difference between B.E. Civil Engineering at AUBIT and at other Anna University affiliated colleges?

Ans. AUBIT is a government constituent college of Anna University, which means it is directly under Anna University's administration (unlike affiliated private colleges). This results in lower fees (Rs. 99,000 total vs. Rs. 3-3.5 Lakhs at private colleges), better faculty quality, and stronger government job prospects. The curriculum is the same Anna University syllabus across all affiliated colleges. However, private colleges may offer better placement infrastructure for corporate jobs. AUBIT is ideal for students prioritising affordability, government job preparation, and research opportunities.
