Punjab Agricultural University was established in 1962. It was inaugurated by Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Prime Minister of India in 1963. The university spreads over an area of 494 hectares at Ludhiana with an off-campus area of 1793 hectares. It has four constituent colleges which are, College of Agriculture, College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, College of Home Science, and College of Basic Science & Humanities, besides PAU Pre-Graduation Institutes of Agriculture at Gurdaspur and Bathinda.

Punjab Agricultural University Admission

Admission at Punjab Agricultural University is based on merit and entrance test. Students can apply either online or offline for the courses offered at the university.

How to Apply?

Candidates have to visit the official website of the university. They have to pay ` 5640/- for each Entrance Test that includes the cost of downloaded form/ Prospectus (` 610/- for additional options in MET-Agri & MET-Community Science).
Candidates must have a valid unique E-mail ID for uploading each application form.
While filling the form a clear and recent passport size colored photograph has to be uploaded with a scanned copy of the signature.
In order to pay the fee, the candidate will be provided two modes: Online payment (credit card / debit card / net banking) or Challan mode

(a) If a candidate wishes to pay using online mode, then he/she has to click pay online and make payment.

The candidate must send the transaction statement along with computer-generated print-out of the application form duly signed by the candidate and his/her parents/guardian to
The Registrar, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana-141 004 clearly mentioning the name of the entrance test on the envelope.

(b) If the candidate has to pay using challan mode, he/she can download the Bank Challan Form of the concerned Bank.

After taking the print-out of challan, the candidate has to visit the branch of the bank with the relevant Challan Form in order to deposit the fee.
The candidate has to send the University Copy of the Challan Form immediately along with computer-generated print-out of the application form duly signed by the candidate and his/her parents/guardian to The Registrar, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana-141 004.

The university also has a training and placement cell. The employment situation is very good for Agricultural Engineers.

Many of them are in prestigious positions after getting selected in various all India level competitive examinations. Some of the postgraduate students are also holding high professional positions in various foreign countries in big companies.

New Holland Tractors, CLAAS India have established well-equipped training labs on Tractors & Combine Harvesters respectively for the budding agricultural engineers from PAU.
Mahindra & Mahindra has also established a Video-Conferencing facility for the benefit of students and for the betterment of the future of students.

The college offers the following scholarships to the students:

Dr. S.K. Vasal Scholarship: This scholarship awards Rs.1500/- per month to the M.Sc. student with the highest OCPA in the discipline of Plant Breeding and Genetics.
Mrs. Jaswant Kaur Bindra w/o Dr. Onkar Singh Bindra Scholarship: This scholarship awards Rs. 3000/- per month along with a contingency grant of Rs.5000/- per annum to the M.Sc. student with the highest rank in the admission list from the discipline of Entomology.

At the university, there are many facilities for the comfort of the students.

Lecture Rooms: All the Lecture Rooms are equipped with multimedia projectors.
Examination Halls: Examination Halls have air conditioners. It also has a seating capacity of 200 candidates.
Conference Halls: Air Conditioned Conference Hall also has a seating capacity of 200 persons.
Computer Labs: The Computer Lab at the university is well furnished and equipped with computers for students.
Counselling Cell: It also has a counselling cell with smart boards and a video conferencing facility.
Hostel: The university also provides Hostel accommodation to the students. The hostel has all the facilities such as well-furnished room with attached bathrooms.
Training Lab: There is a well-equipped training lab on Combine Harvester under Institute Industry Collaboration with CLAAS and on Tractors under Institute Industry Collaboration with New Holland

Likes

The campus, it was simple and the cafeteria area.
The greenery and lawn areas of the campus.
The cooperative nature of the faculty and staff.

Dislikes

The slow processing of documents and other important documents.
The non-cooperation of the staff in academic branch
The campus, it needs renovation and modification as classrooms are not worth the fees we pay.

Students view on course curriculum

The relevancy for the courses is good, but i think more courses for enterprenuership must be introduced, as many students are not looking for the placements, other things must be explored as well. For real life application there are subjects in7th semester, which i personally feel are very poorly timed, as the degree must be a long learning journey for real life applications, and not for just 6 months. The frequency of exam per sem is every one month, including practicals and other test series.

Internship opportunity in various organization provided by the college

The college offers us internships in 7th semester, many companies like Punjab remote sensing centre, CIPHET,Tafe, Merado, Verka, and many companies have tie ups with college. Some internships are paid while mostly are not. The roles are decided by the companies only, so mostly entry level roles like assisting the seniors or working on a common projects are given. The duration for the internship is around 2 months, and it is considered mandatory, but it has only S/US grade, no marks are alloted for it.

Various companies recruiting from the campus , average and highest package being offered

From 6th semester a student is eligible for the placements, companies like TAFE, CLASS, Mahindra and Mahindra and many others come for campus placements. The average package is of 5-6 lacs and the highest package, according to me was gone for john deere company at the price of 15 lacs per annum. The students have 80-90% chances of getting placements. I personally want to pursue my higher studies and work on my future preneurs.

Fees of the course per semester and various scholarship available in the college

Having said, The fees structure justifies some facilities, while some not. Per semester the fees is around 45-50k for day scholars, and 65k+ for the hostellers. The tution fees remains the same for all students, except for the students who are hostellers, as mentioned before. There are special reservations for the SC/ST students, and according to my information, the fees for them is only 5k. The scholarships are offered on the basis of academic merit, and for the sports merit, we have to complete the many levels, like attaining, college color and college merit, then we can apply for university merit. There are scarce scholarships for sportspersons, while the academic merit, there are two scholarships offered, once in 1st year, and other one in 3rd year. Other scholarships are rewarded on the basis of economic status, Gender specifications and other societal factors.

Students view on campus life

The overall campus life is not so happening tbh. At the name of fests, there is only one fest, that is youth fest. Other fests are the fairs named kisan mela, and that is not very happening, atleast for the youngsters. The sports meet are organised every year in february. The college and university has rich resource of books and journals which can easily accesed by students.

Students view on faculties

The faculty to student ratio for our batch was excellent, there was never shortage of teachers, as well as the courses as well. Per semester we had to study 8-9 courses. The courses were indeed intresting and worth the time, but the thing is due to high number of courses, the importance and time which had to give to subjects, was not given. The faculties are highly supportive of our college.

Why students choose this college over any other college?

For me, i chose this college due to my keen intrest in agriculture and due to close proximity of campus from my residence. The college has alot to offer in terms of agriculture. I applied for 2 colleges, One being PAU and other GNDE ludhiana, i chose this as the course i study here has strongly acknowledged in india as well as abroad.

Night Life

The nightlife is good only for the boys as the hostel gates are never closed for us, meanwhile the girls hostel are closed around 8 pm in summers and 7pm in winters. Inside the campus, theres nothing happening in night, but outside campus there are alot of markets and malls to roam around and have fun. There is gym in the badminton court, but it mostly consists of worn out equipment, so i would recommend joining a good gym rather than injuring yourself, as many instances have been recorded, Only famous hangout spot are Nescafe and Amul cafe, situated in front of main library.

Life in PAU

Admission:

I choose this college my university nirf 1st rank among state agricultural university and 3rd among national level agricultural university. I want to take admission in this college only and i got that. admission is after 10th through AAT exam and after 12th [ from medical/non medical stream only] through CET exam.

well the interaction with the faculty is good. As all the faculty treat us as their children. the college infrastructure is good.

Admission:

well to be honest I have not applied to any other college as i just want do bsc agriculture in this university. but due to my rank i was unable to selected for takinf admission in bsc agriculture. so i preferred this degree over it as due to update academic ( bsc horticulture & forestry consider same as bsc agriculture) which help in making eligible for giving paper of ADO( agriculture development officer) . As to take admission in this university under this degree first u have to give paper CET( common entrance test) on the basis of number optain ranking is given( in this test 11th & 12 th syllabus comes , mcqs. Omr sheets have to be filled at the time of paper. well cuts goes near about 600 rank from 250 on ward as 2-3 councilling are conducted. well my experience about the admission was not so good as i got admission in this program in 3rd councelling.

My Experience in PAU : the good & the bad

It is the best State Agricultural University as per NIRF rankings & from my experience I can say indeed it is.

For BSc Agriculture Hons. , two tests are there to get admission: If you want to get into PAU after 10th AAT ( Agricultural Aptitude Test ) is there - every year held in june or july. : can be easily cleared with 2 months of study , the questions asked are from the syllabus you study in 9th 10th standard along with general agriculture questions from the PSEB books for Agriculture ( Class 6th to 10th ) Those who want to go for BSc Agri Hons. after 12th can appear for CET ( Common Entrance Test ) : It is pretty much easier as compared to NEET or JEE.

The greenery and lawn areas of the campus.

Dislikes

The non-cooperation of the staff in academic branch
The slow processing of documents and other important documents.
The campus, it needs renovation and modification as classrooms are not worth the fees we pay.

Neet and clean:-Maintenance of our university is very good as compared to others
Avoid politics:- there is no polotics rules in our university
Peaceful environment :-according to me it is a best university for those students who loves to avoid noise

Dislikes

There is nothing else to dislike in university
Permission to four wheelers in campus . It leads to traffic and sometime make a noise also
Give us very low grace for our other activities

As i am before mentioned that our university is full of peace and i reallly like to lives in peaceful area.That's why i really like my university. The maintenance of our university is much better than other universities

university campus area is more than 1500 acre it has agricultural land in which Various crops are grown in field.
Our university library is also very big and useful for us and a museum is also in our university related to punjabi virsa .
my college building and campus area is very beatitiful and very large .

Dislikes

Our college classes are build in Old fashion there are no or very less hi-fi classes so no smart classes are there.

Admission:

PAU Ludhiana is the best agricultural university in Punjab and it has rank second from ICAR which make it too special. There are very limited seats in this university so no one can take admission in this university easily even I gave an entrance exam which is also too difficult for taking admission in the university in Punjab there are no such other other colleges which are better than this college.

I choose this college because its the best college to optt for agricultural field Pau has been ranked number 1 Agricultural university in the whole Asia twice which makes it more evident to go for PAU only Admission process is super easy there is an entrance exam which is normal general knowledge and a little about agriculture once you clear it you go for the councelling which takes place in the university itself after checking your documents your admission is approved and you are good to go for this World class University

PAU Ludhiana conducts the Common Entrance Test (CET) followed by counselling to offer admission in B.Sc (Hons.) courses except for B.Sc (Architecture/ Fashion Designing). Candidates have to appear in the national level Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) to secure admission in B.Sc (Architecture) program. For B.Sc in Fashion Designing, the candidates have to appear in Design Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted by NID. B.Tech and Integrated M.Sc admissions are also based on the score in CET except for B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering for which a valid score in JEE Main is mandatory. For M.Tech, MBA, MCA (Regular+Lateral), MJMC and M.Sc courses, PAU conducts MET followed by an interview. Ph.D. admission is based PAU Written Test and Interview. Although, ICAR qualified candidates are directly eligible for the interview round.

Punjab Agricultural University offers UG, PG and Ph.D. courses in different specializations. Application forms can be filled online or can be obtained in person or by post.

PAU Ludhiana conducts the Common Entrance Test (CET) followed by counselling to offer admission in B.Sc (Hons.) courses except for B.Sc (Architecture/ Fashion Designing).

The last date to apply for admission at PAU Ludhiana is June 28^th 2024 and the entrance exams will be held post that and the date is not released for that. Admission is done based on the entrance exam conducted by the University followed by counselling selection.

Candidate must pass 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology/ Agriculture with at least 50% marks in aggregate/Two-year Diploma in Agriculture in order to apply for the degree course in agriculture at the PAU.
