GNDU Admission FAQs

Ques. How is Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar for a B.Tech in Computer Science?

Ans. GNDU's B.Tech Computer Science program is highly respected with strong placement outcomes. The median package for CSE graduates reaches INR 7.70 LPA, with the highest package at INR 44 LPA. CSE batch placement rate consistently exceeds 80-85% with top recruiters including Amazon, Google, TCS, Infosys, and Microsoft. The program features modern laboratories, experienced faculty, and hands-on project experience. The curriculum emphasizes core programming skills, data structures, and software development. Campus placements begin early with companies conducting recruitment drives throughout the academic year. CSE students have excellent opportunities for internships with stipends ranging from INR 10,000-50,000 monthly, providing valuable industry exposure alongside academics.

Ques. Is an MBA from GNDU Amritsar worth it?

Ans. Yes, an MBA from GNDU is worthwhile if you value government university recognition and affordable education. GNDU MBA costs around INR 3,05,790 for the two-year program, making it highly cost-effective. The median placement package is INR 6.35 LPA with top recruiters including Axis Bank, Deloitte, and KPMG. GNDU's MBA curriculum balances theory and practical applications through case studies and industry collaborations. However, if you prioritize highest packages and cutting-edge infrastructure, premium institutions might offer marginally better placements. GNDU MBA works exceptionally well for candidates seeking government job eligibility, further studies, or traditional corporate roles, particularly those prioritizing affordability and academic quality.

Ques. I am to begin my first year CSE at GNDU Amritsar. Can you please provide some helpful tips?

Ans. Welcome to GNDU! Start strong by attending all lectures and engaging actively with faculty. Build strong fundamentals in programming languages like C, C++, and Java during first semester. Join the Technical Students Society (TSS) to network with peers and gain exposure to industry trends. Don't miss internship opportunities and aim for summer internships to build practical experience. Balance academics with extracurriculars and maintain good CGPA as it affects placement eligibility. Make full use of the college library and online resources available through GNDU's digital platform. Develop time management skills, start projects early, and collaborate with classmates. Attend seminars and workshops organized by the department to learn about emerging technologies and career opportunities.

Ques. Which is better, GNDU or LPU for a B.Tech in CSE?

Ans. LPU offers higher average packages (INR 10.23 LPA) and highest package (INR 2.5 crore) compared to GNDU's INR 6.37 LPA average. LPU boasts 90%+ placement rate with 2,225+ recruiting companies, far exceeding GNDU's placement volume. LPU's infrastructure is premium with world-class facilities, though fees are significantly higher (INR 1.2-2.4 lakhs annually). GNDU provides government university recognition, affordability, and strong academics at a fraction of LPU's cost. Choose GNDU if you prioritize affordable quality education and government sector opportunities. Choose LPU if maximizing corporate placements and premium infrastructure matter more than cost, as both have different value propositions for different career aspirations.

Ques. What is the last rank for B.Tech admission in GNDU?

Ans. GNDU B.Tech admission cutoffs depend on JEE Main scores and category. For general category in CSE, the last rank typically ranges from 50,000 to 150,000 AIR (All India Rank). For SC category, the last rank extends to approximately 250,000 AIR. For OBC category, cutoff ranges between 60,000-180,000 AIR. Non-CSE branches have higher cutoffs, with mechanical engineering ranging from 80,000-250,000 and civil engineering from 90,000-300,000 for general category. These cutoffs vary yearly based on application volume and exam difficulty. Punjab has 85% quota for state domicile students, affecting overall cutoff patterns. Check official JAC (Joint Admission Committee) Chandigarh website for most current and exact cutoff information specific to your category and branch.

I applied for vit vellore , bits . They had very hefty amounts of fess. Which i might not afford. Thats why i did not take admission in these college . My 4 year fees is their aunnal fees. I cleared the exams of vit and bit. For financial reasons i did not take admisison . For other courses rather than btech the college tame entrance tests . For btech jee mains is preffered . The cutoff generaly goes till 85% . There is also a managemnet quoto. Please dont make this statement public. Instead of 130000 they take 300000 for a year in fees.

The admission process of the college was quite simple, you just need to have passed class 12 with decent marks, there was no entrance exam to get the admission. I chose this college as it was known to provide good education and there was strictness in college so it can help you to stay on track and focus on studies
