Food wasn't up to the mark in the beginning but now it is really good

Hostel Facilities:

Room has three tubelights and two fans. There are about 8 cupboards and three beds and three tables and three chairs. Meal is very good. Every day menu is different. I am living in the hostel itself and it is nice.

Our hostel povides three sharimg room for Bachelors degree students The rent is very affordable viz 5000 per year The maintainence and sanitation is good . The timings depends on the departments chosen by the students Hostel meals are quite a dissapointment and not worth the price and yet it is compulsory

Campus Life:

This campus had many extracurricular activities such as cultural, workshops, seminars, etc. Every year functions were held for the all round development and to polish our skills. NIMHANS provides accommodation at subsidized tariff at 2 places within its hospital campus:

Infosys Foundation Dharmashala -

Room Tariff: INR 400 per day.
Deposit: INR 4000.

Lakshmi Mittal Rest Home -

Room Tariff: INR 200 per day.
Deposit: INR 2000 for ‘A’ Category.
Room Tariff: INR 125 per day.
Deposit: INR 1250 for ‘B’ Category.

Both the places take in people on a First-Come-First-Served basis.

NIMHANS is an institute of national importance and has excellent hostel facilities. There are 3 hostels for resident doctors, namely

Old KABINI hostel
New KABINI hostel
KABINI Annexe hostel

Additionally, these hostels have 3 different types of rooms, single, small family, and family. The hostel rooms are allotted on the basis of their availability. Sometimes family rooms are allowed for 2–3 residents.

These hostels have decent facilities and almost everything you want can be procured easily. The Kabini mess in the KABINI Annexe building serves a wide variety of food items like veg, non-veg, salad, juice, ice-creams, chats, etc. But it’s more like a canteen so you have to pay for your food. The staff canteen is attached to the OLD block building and serves diction breakfast and lunch.

Overall, the hostel facilities for PG residents at NIMHANS are great.

The hostel facilities are excellent for the PG students in medical and surgical branches. Many of my friends in AIIMS and PGI have visited NIMHANS and claimed its hostel facilities to be better than their hostels. The hostels are well-maintained and hygiene is given utmost importance. Additionally, there are family rooms available on the basis of seniority.

However, the non-medical trainees don’t get very good hostel facilities as their buildings are old and retarded. Most of the old academic buildings have been transformed into hostels for non-medical trainees so you should keep your expectations low if you are one.

There is NIMHANS Hostel For Female which has 110 rooms of varying sizes, both single and double occupancy, and can accommodate 179 trainees. Most rooms have attached bathrooms. There is also the Hostel For Unisex and accommodation in this hostel is for Post MBBS Resident Doctors and other medical doctors doing PhD or post-doctoral fellowships. Facilities: Accommodation in this hostel is on a single occupancy basis. All the rooms in this hostel have attached toilets and balconies. NIMHANS also offers hostel facilities to males which is situated near the Administrative Block of NIMHANS. There are 81 single occupancy rooms as well as 18 cubicles and 4 dormitories. There are 45 single rooms and 29 family rooms for staffs.
