NFSU M.Sc. Neuropsychology FAQs
Ques. Is CUET-PG 2026 mandatory for M.Sc. Neuropsychology admission at NFSU, or can I apply based on graduation marks?
Ans. From AY 2026-27 onwards, NFSU has replaced its own entrance test (NFAT) with CUET-PG 2026 for M.Sc. Neuropsychology. This means a valid CUET-PG 2026 score in HUQP20 (Psychology/Applied Psychology) is now mandatory for admission. Unlike previous years where merit based on graduation percentage was also considered, the new admission matrix for 2026-27 onwards requires CUET-PG scores. Candidates who have not appeared in CUET-PG 2026 will not be eligible for AY 2026-27 admission.
Ques. What is the scope of M.Sc. Neuropsychology from NFSU - is it recognised for clinical practice?
Ans. M.Sc. Neuropsychology from NFSU is a research and applied science degree, not a clinical practice licence. Graduates can work in neuropsychological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation centres, research institutions, hospitals (as part of a multidisciplinary team), and forensic agencies. However, to independently practice as a clinical psychologist in India, you would need an RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) recognised qualification such as M.Phil. Clinical Psychology. NFSU does offer M.Phil. Clinical Psychology (RCI Approved) as a separate programme for those seeking clinical licensure.
Ques. What is the difference between M.Sc. Neuropsychology and M.Sc. Clinical Psychology at NFSU?
Ans. M.Sc. Neuropsychology focuses specifically on brain-behaviour relationships, neurological disorders, cognitive neuroscience, and neuropsychological assessment, making it ideal for those interested in the biological and forensic aspects of psychology. M.Sc. Clinical Psychology, on the other hand, has a broader clinical focus covering psychopathology, psychotherapy, and mental health interventions. Both are 2-year programmes at NFSU with the same tuition fee of Rs. 65,000 per semester, but Neuropsychology has a smaller intake (30 seats) compared to Clinical Psychology (50 seats).
Ques. Is hostel accommodation guaranteed for M.Sc. Neuropsychology students at NFSU Gandhinagar?
Ans. Hostel accommodation at NFSU Gandhinagar is not guaranteed and is allotted on a merit-cum-availability basis. Students from outside Gujarat are given preference over local students. The hostel fee is Rs. 53,000 per semester for a non-AC twin sharing room and Rs. 76,000 per semester for an AC twin sharing room, inclusive of three meals per day. Students are advised to apply for hostel accommodation immediately after seat confirmation, as seats are limited.
Ques. Can a student with a B.Sc. in Life Sciences (without Psychology) apply for M.Sc. Neuropsychology at NFSU?
Ans. As per the updated eligibility criteria for AY 2026-27, the programme requires a Bachelor's degree in Arts/Science in Psychology or equivalent from a recognised university. A B.Sc. in Life Sciences without Psychology as a subject may not meet the eligibility criteria. However, if your graduation included Psychology as one of the subjects, you may be considered. It is strongly recommended to verify your eligibility directly with NFSU's admissions office at admissions@nfsu.ac.in before applying, as the university has the final say on equivalence of qualifications.
Ques. What career opportunities are available after M.Sc. Neuropsychology from NFSU?
Ans. Graduates of M.Sc. Neuropsychology from NFSU can pursue careers in multiple domains. In the forensic sector, they can work with law enforcement agencies, courts, and forensic labs in behavioural profiling and neuropsychological assessment. In the healthcare sector, opportunities exist in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and neurology departments as neuropsychology assistants or researchers. Academia and research are also strong pathways, with many graduates pursuing Ph.D. programmes in India and abroad. Additionally, NFSU's brand as an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs adds significant credibility to the degree for government sector roles.
