The department offers a supportive learning environment with a low faculty-to-student ratio, enhanced by a mentor-mentee program where each faculty member guides 4 or 5 students. Esteemed faculty members include Dr. Radhey Sharma, known for his approachable and effective teaching methods, and Dr. Biju, a distinguished biologist in India. The college has an active placement cell connecting students with top organizations like ONGC, MoEFCC, CPCB, and NIDM, mainly through interviews.
Each year, around 10-15 students secure placements with average salary packages between 5 to 7 lakh INR annually. Many students also achieve success in qualifying for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). For the 2024 academic year, the first-year master's program fees for both MA and MSc courses in the Department of Environmental Studies at the University of Delhi are 20,144 INR.
