UoD: Insight into Arts Faculty

Fees and Financial Aid:

We had to pay 28000 per year for our Masters English which is a two year degree making it around 56000 and also we have to pay examination fee every semester which is 710 rupees although largely depends on college to college. I am enrolled in Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa which is a North Campus College. usually during second year the fee amount is reduced as I got to know from my seniors that it would probably be 21000 but this year UoD has made a hike I guess in fee structure. Also Department Students pay comparatively less as they 17k every year. Largely depends on colleges and also the fee structure varies according to North Campus and South Campus colleges too.

The fee structure was around 12000 per year, which made it nearly 24000 for the entire course. It changes year wise but minimalistically . It becomes professional as your dedication can get you your professor's recommendation to teach in any college provided you have cleared UGC NET.

The year wise fee structure for Master of Arts In English Literature at University of Delhi ranged between 10k-20k. Fees for all categories was same, with some concession for PwD students. The course duration was 2 yrs. The fees include tuition fees, university student welfare fund (INR 200), university development fund (INR 1000) university facilities and services charges (INR 1000), fund for economically weaker section support (INR 150).

Department of English, DU at a dismal state

Everyone knows why students prefer government colleges over private colleges, the major reason is the course fee. The Department of English also is quite affordable in terms of its tuition fees and the department never asks for more money even after the admission. There are no fee concessions for anyone though. There are scholarships for some reserved categories but that is just on the papers, the fee is not refunded in real.

Hansraj in a nutshell

The overall fee for MA english in Hansraj College is around 44000, which gets split as around 22000 per year. Other than that you have to pay rs 500-700 for each end semester exam. Other than this you don't have to pay any extra fee. This 44000 includes everything for other expenses also. The college provides opportunities for fee concession also for which you have to fill the scholarship form and appear for a personal interview. Though, i am not sure about MA, but other commerce and business courses do offer placement opportunities.

It's a solid 8/10 experience

The few structure depends on the college you're enrolled in, however you'll be having your classes in the campus, for example I was in ARSD and my annual fee was ?12,700 and my friend from LSR had ?18000.

The fees for MA english depends on what college one gets, but the maximum it can go is 30/35k per year, I am in the Department of english, North campus (It is kind of main department, not affiliated with any college), and the fees here is 17.5k per year for general category.

Masters in English in DU

Every semester, I have to pay around 700 rupees. Only after paying this, one can get their admit cards for exams. I didn't opt for any scholarships. So, I don't have any idea about that. I can say that study is really cost friendly in Du. However, if you live outside hostel, pg cost varies, which is expensive for most outsiders.

A Dying Giant

This is the only respite from studying at DU. The fees are nominal even with the hikes. Living is also relatively cheaper due to access to university resources. I did not avail of any scholarship during my master's but there are a number of scholarships that can be availed for students who come from less privileged backgrounds. Being a humanities course there was no scope for campus placement. They left us to fend for ourselves afterwards.
