Maulana Azad Urdu University Ph.D. Eligibility
- Master’s degree in equivalent branch with 55% marks (50% for SC/ ST/ PD/ VH).
- Candidates not having M.A./ M. Phil in Translation Studies can have a postgraduate degree in any disciple and should fulfill any one of the following conditions:
- Must have published 5 articles translated from English to Urdu in reputed Urdu Journals and Magazines.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an English-Urdu Translator in a Public sector organization/ Published at least one book of a minimum of 100 pages, translated from English to Urdu.
- Entrance test score (written and interview) with a minimum of 50%.
- Qualified UGC/ CSIR-JRF/ NET, valid GATE score/ SLE/ M. Phil.
Maulana Azad Urdu University Ph.D. Admission Guidelines
The admission is based on the entrance exam. Admission to Ph.D. is through an online process.
- Click on the “online application link” from the “admission section”.
- Click on “apply now” and fill in the application form.
- Fill in the information carefully and submit the form.
- Pay the application fee of INR 500 for the General category and INR 300 for SC/ ST/ PwD/ Women Application through the online banking process.
Documents to be required at the time of the application form are:
- Transfer Certificate
- Receipt of the fee paid
- Mark-sheet of the qualifying examination
- Master’s certificate
- Scanned photograph
- Scanned signature
- Caste certificate (if applicable).

Maulana Azad Urdu University Ph.D. Course Details
In Ph.D. programs, only the first semester includes subjects as per the specialization. In other semesters, students have to work on projects and submit the report. In the final semester, there is a viva regarding the project and then the final submission of the report.
