Very cordial, student-centric staff and management
Wide range of extracurricular activities, with active encouragement from teachers to participate in at least a few

It was good university for Aerospace engineering on Engineering point of view
The beach was close by to have a relaxing evenings
The people around were more welcoming

Dislikes

Couldn't spend more time due to Pandemic
The university was very vast that it was almost impossible for a Master's student to make head and tail out of it at the beginning

My accommodation was in a student village. as soon as you confirm the university, they provide the preferred accommodations in the vicinity and we can pick anything we want. I preferred student village because it was mandatory to show accommodation to the loan-lending bank. I had zero challenges getting accommodation; I got the place confirmation within 2 days after my application to the student village.

ME THRIVIVING AT: Swansea University

Likes

The diversity in my campus- we had people from all over the world.
The transportation and connectivity between both campuses of my university.
The food hubs are plenty so i was not worried about cooking in the morning.

Dislikes

In the MSc course they don't spoon feed you, which I understand but the professors can atleast teach a little in detail if the majority of the class does not understand a topic!
Because its a one year course, it goes by pretty quick and the struggle is real to understand, grasp the knowledge etc.
Didnt really like my time table to be honest. atleast in my course we only had 2 full days of university- from 9am to 5pm. That's 3 very long hours of same lectures that get very mundane, would have appreciated smaller lectures and more days instead.

I used facebook groups to connect to university students and get accomodation in Swansea. apart from that i looked in Zoopla, sparerooms and other sites. I had plenty of options from university accommodation to student accommodations but i prefer house of multiple occupants HMO properties, they are like standalone houses with 4 bedroom or 5 bedroom where everyone is either a student or young professionals with shared kitchen.
That gave me the opportunity to connect to a diverse culture of people. My accommodation was nearby, walking distance but i used to take the bus when necessary. My monthly rent was 450 to 500 pounds, including electricity bills, water bills, gas bills, internet and everything.
The challenges you face are scammers so be careful and verify before confirming and sending money. as much as possible, try sending a friend or someone to physically go and see the house on your behalf. try to take accommodation near to the campus so you can walk over when required. most indian students stay nearby.

My Swansea University Experience

The first thing I would say is the campus, is so beautiful and very well organized, you won't be bothered around asking people where to go. The campus is very close to the beach which elevates the beauty of it.
How can I miss the library, I spent most of my time there reading and working on group projects, it has all the necessary & Recommended books, and Silent Zone is so good.
The University is in collaboration with very big and renowned companies like Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Mercedes Benz, GE, BAE systems, etc. Hence you get a chance to work on projects and dissertations with them.

Dislikes

In my eyes it was good but many people would dislike the examination system because they have 75% per cent of assessments based on written exams which is the difficult part and 25 % based on assignments.
The second part is the weekly timetable, five days a week classes and everyday 4-6 hours study, that is what most students don't prefer. If you are doing a part-time job and cooking yourself then it's not easy to manage your study for sure.
Without a doubt professors are good but some of them really don't care about teaching and if you're not studious, you might have to suffer a lot by asking lots of doubts they are not free all the time and they have specific weekdays to solve your query.

It was studio by CRM Private accommodation; we found out it online through a LinkedIn friend. We Lived there for almost 7 months and then we shifted to another house. We spent almost 6 months there; that house we founded with the help of the student property agent—you will find out there are many.
The studio usually is an expensive option but so much better than sharing a house because here you get your own kitchen and bathroom. Apparently more private and luxurious with all the facilities like Movie theater, Game Zone, Gym, Reading Room, Big Dining hall with kitchen for small events like birthdays and, Bicycle parking; all of this included in the Rent. and the Monthly rent would be around 700 GBP to 1350 GBP. Only one person can live there but if you are a couple (gay couples are allowed but you have to prove it), its better to live together; it would be much cheaper. Most of the Indian students whom I know were living at the studio, but if you are going for the studio, you should better pre-book it. I don't have more photos of it but you can find it online (Abode: Boutique Student Accommodation, Managed By CRM Swansea)
Commune was so easy for us because there is a bus stop in front of the accommodation so you don't have to walk even for a minute and University bus will arrive there after every 10 min and it will take around 20 minute. Moreover, its in the center of Swansea city anything you want you can get withing 5 min of walk.
The first month was nightmare for us because we lived in a sharing house and it was 3 bedroom, 1 kitchen & 1 bathroom for 7 people. we didn't see the house before and do not believe anyone Especially South Asian, we deposited in cash and never get back so avoid doing business in cash.

The first thing is Bristol and Glasgow were more expensive for me, and except for Swansea, no other university offered me a scholarship.
And the second thing is a collaboration with aerospace companies. One friend of mine was studying there, and he got to work with Mercedes Benz, so I decided to go with Swansea, and it is way more beautiful.

Life at Swansea

They provide end to end support for International students as the students adjusting to a different educational structure can be challenging. They have some dedicated resources particularly workshops on essay writing, citing & referencing sources, and even adjusting to local academic expectations.
Each and every student will be assigned an individual mentor. Where they provide guidance especially to international students related to academic, social, and even career. This helps an individual to bridge the gap between feeling like a newcomer to becoming a fully united part of the university.
University organises a career fair every quarter of the year. Where more than 100 international, national companies take part and guide students regarding challenges like sponsorship, visa regulations, cultural differences in job-hunting practices. The Employability team helps you in building your resume/ CV, skills or what type of international experiences to highlight to national employers and they even have a largely connected global alumni network that itself says everything.

Dislikes

The bad thing about the university is that it’s located in a small city, Swansea might not offer the same level of networking opportunities, or big-city lifestyle that places like London, Manchester, or Cardiff provide. For instance, I feel that the local job market would be less active than in major metropolitan cities, requiring students to travel way far for certain career opportunities.
Although the university has many societies and clubs for students, the range of extracurricular activities might not be as extensive as what is found at Universities such as Kings College of London, London School of Economics, and this could even lead to students seeking very specific interests or hobbies.
A notable trend is that more affiliated institutions have larger conferences, seminars and guest speaker and workshop programs with more influential and professional companies. Also, it is possible that events of such high profile placements as well as competition may not be as vigorous in Swansea which may reduce opportunities for interaction and learning.

I was living in University Accommodation which had an ensuite room with a shared kitchen. I was sharing my kitchen with 8 girls. My rent was 169 GBP per week. One can look for student accommodation located outside the campus but one will have to travel to campus for min 4 days a week. It is preferred to look for accommodation which is near to the campus as it is easy to navigate every day.

I opted for Maritime Law at Swansea University since its faculties are pioneers in contributing to the literature in maritime law. It was always my first choice thus, my decision was a no-brainer. My experience at this Uni has been enriching. For career opportunities, one has to look at themselves. Please do not undertake this course if you don't have any work experience beforehand as it will be difficult for you.

Initially, I opted for student accommodation, which cost me around 540 pounds per month, including bills. After 6 months, I moved with my friends to an individual house closer to the university. Here I pay around 360 pounds, including bills, which is very affordable. Accommodation-wise, you can say Swansea is very affordable for a student, as you will be paying around $300-500 per month. Student accommodation can be a little costly otherwise.

I chose this university as this has a higher ranking in the healthcare sector, admission process is also flexible and can apply 3-4 months prior to the course starting as well. I missed the September intake deadline which was in April/May due to my passport issues and this was the best option I had for the January intake.

So the first year, my accommodation was in student halls, which I personally liked because it was 3 minute walk from campus. However then, I had decided to shift to private accommodation nearer to the City Centre, as that suited me best. The facilities are really accessible, but I personally would recommend, looking closer to the University Campus.

The university course -BSc Applied Medical Sciences is a fantastic pathway for those looking to go into medical research, enterprise, or study Medicine afterwards. The location is really relaxing with the beach near the university campus and the lecturers and support network is really welcoming and encouraging. I chose Swansea particularly due to the 2nd year Pathways that they provide to study Graduate Entry Medicine.
