Remarks

Positive : Its a small college consisting of few students , so there is less conflicts. It does help in good placements as there are less students. Reputated college in odisha. Negative : Located is bad. Transportation problems. Teachers have very much power in hand , so students are terrified sometimes.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Teachers are highly qualified here but there are only few who can teach perfectly. It conducts exam under its own authority. It conducts 2 exams per semester , one js mid sem and other is the end sem exam. It also conducts 2 quiz exams in one semester. So total 4 exams and othet practical exams. Marking scheme is quite strict than other colleges.

Placement Experience

4

The placements there are quite good as compared to other colleges in town. There are few students in the colg , so at the end almost 90% of them gets placed , but the placement for CSE dept is the best here as compared to other depts.

College Events

4

There are many events in our college. Out of all , The main event is our fest named "Advaita" , which is one of the best events in town. Throughout the year we conduct many events like tech fest , cultural fest , literature fest and many more.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It charges average fees as compared to other colleges. But as a govt. college it charges more. It charged 67k per semester and yes there was an admission fees also. It has mess charges , library , bus etc all included. It doesn't have AC anywhere in the premises except computer labs.

Fees and Financial Aid

It has some regional or central scholarship schemes as per the odisha/indian govt. It also has reservation quotas and it also has the fee waiver schemes for under privileged students. It also provide loans and other schemes.

Campus Life

3.5

It has most of the labs required for a college. It has chemistry , mechanical , computer, electronics , electrical , telecommunications , analog and digital communications , IOT , and many more labs. It has a basketball , football , cricket team also. It has many other cultural activity teams also.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Hostel is also good. Infrastructure is as an average engineering college. It has 9 floors of hostel and each floor consists of 8 rooms , in which it has 3 students occupied. It has good water supplies and electricity. It doesnt have AC in hostels.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors are quite helpful and help in various needs. There is no ragging allowed in campus. It also has an alumni committees, but i dont think so it works well. Seniors helps in every work like showing us proper guidance in studies and other stuffs.

Admission

I got selected from my JEE mains marks and rank and my 12th precentage. It requires quite more marks in JEE to get admission than other colleges. It had 4-5 rounds of admission. You can wait for your turn till the last round.

Faculty

3.5

They are highly qualified but many are not able to teach properly or i must say to connect among students and make the class interesting. But some of them are just brilliant , and teaches very well. Everyone there is very strict and not give good marks as compared to other colleges in Bhubaneswar.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
