Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is very good where the studentsget to experience the real life legal situation. The college has many seminars where many renowned speaks and other legal professionals come to give lecture on various topics of law which helps the students to learn more about the different fields of law. There are also legal aid camps where the students get to know the legal situation in underdeveloped regions and provide free legal services. The college also organises court visits, moot court competitions, legal debates etc which helps the students to enhance their rwuired skills in this course. However there can be some improvements in the moot courts competition by encouraging the students and giving them flexibility to participate in the competition without being bias. The exams are conducted timely in the mid of the month and the difficulty level is prominent for any law student in this college.
Internships Opportunities
Most of the internships are unpaid. Only few are paid. The College provides a list of all the companies or NGOs where the students can do internship according to their semesters. Then there is form in the college website which the students needs to be filled and taken the signature of the principal. After his approval only, we can do internships. The college mostly provides internships in Women cell, Human rights, child rights, legal cell, High courts, session court etc. The students can also do internship of their own if they find anything but only the approval from the principal is necessary. During the internships, the students are asked to draft many documents, visit courts etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees have to be paid per semester with total amount as 17,800/- with Admission Fee and Course Fee as 13,000/- , 2,000/- as Tuition Fees. 1,500.00/- Campus Development Fund. The Union Fees is 500/-. The Library Fees (Library card, Book, journals, Newspapers) is 500/- which is refundable later and we can take books too with that library card. Festival Fees as 300/-. Which makes the total Payable Amount Rs. 17,800/- (Rupees Seventeen Thousand Eight Hundred Only). The college does not provide any remuneration as the mode of admission is online. There are many scholarships which we get such as ISHANUDOY and other scholarships for various reservations which is based on merit and we can even renew our scholarship per year.
Campus Life
The overall campus life is very good. The college also celebrates all the festivals where all the students comes together to celebrate. The college also organises freshers and farewell for the students. We also have college week where all types of sports, debates, and cultural activities are organized. Then at last where we have our cultural nights with all the cultural programmes. The college also conduct moot court competitions from where the winners are taken to the state level moot court competitions. The library has all types of law books from where the students can borrow books for their academic purposes with the help of their library card. We also have a debate, literature club and also many other clubs are being formed which organises various programmes from time to time to enhance the writing and debating skills. All these activities impact the the writing and speaking skills which is important in the law career.
Admission
I did not apply to any other colleges as my dream was to get into this college only. The college does not require a CLAT exam (but soon there will be). So, the forms of the admission are out in the college portal where the students have to fill out their form and after that there will be a date of the interview which is either written or oral taken by the faculty members of that college. Then after that interview the selected candidates are asked to go to the college for document verification (all these information are given through the notice in the college website) . Then after the verification, the students have to pay the required admission fees. The cut off of the exam is quite high and there are reservations for the SC, ST, OBC. The admission process is quite flexible as all the information is given through the notice clearly and that notice is also published in the official group of the students.
Faculty
The faculty member is less than as compared to the students but still there are two teachers for the law subjects which helps the students to break down their syllabus into various parts. The faculty members of the constitutional law are very good, they explain it very prominently which helps the students to grasp the required topics. But the faculty members of all the subjects are very cool and friendly. They are very kind and always conduct a doubt clearing sessions for the students. There are two sessional exams before the finals. The first one is written which is of 20 marks and the other one is oral which is also called the viva of the assignment the students has to submit (which is of 15 marks). No students fail during the sessionals as the paper consist of only two questions each of 10 marks which is well taught in the class by the faculty members.
Interview Experience
During the admission, we had our interview in oral. And from our next batch the college started conducting written test. During the interview they ask us to read a Assamese newspaper which is important in our legal career in GUWAHATI HIGH COURT. We are also given a real life situation where we are asked what is the first thing we will do if some accidents happen in the road?. The interviewers were very polite and even if we were nervous they guided us throughout the process and they also asked many students about the current legal affairs happening in the country or about the CJI etc.
Night Life
The college has a gym which is often used by the students, a library where we can go and make out notes as we feel convenient. The cafeteria is huge where all the students gather together to eat or spend their free time. The college timing is like strict where the classes starts from 9 int he morning till the 3 in the evening and from 12 am-1pm we have our breaks. The most famous hangout place inside the college is our canteen and also outside the college we have various cafes and restaurants where students gather together to spend their time. The college also has a internet cafe near it from where we can get the previous years question papers which helps us to study well and mark the important questions necessary for the exam. The area near the college is safe to roam around at night as many PGs are there. During the college hours, the security guard take care of all the vehicles and guide the students throughout the college campus.
