Course Curriculum Overview

4

In terms of comprehensiveness and relevance, I would give the course curriculum an 8 out of 10. Through electives, it progressively introduces contemporary topics like AI, Data Science, Cloud Computing, and VLSI after building a solid foundation in core subjects during the first few semesters. Incorporating labs, mini-projects, and required internships guarantees that students are not solely dependent on theory. Some topics, though, still seem a little out of date and might be updated to reflect modern business procedures. In spite of this, the curriculum effectively strikes a balance between theoretical knowledge and real-world experience, preparing students for both placements and further education.

Internships Opportunities

4

NIT Delhi provides internships for its students without any restrictions on departments. The college has collaborations with famous companies and startups, and seniors often give advice on how to get an internship. The core branches like CSE, ECE, and IT are very active in their several software, data science, AI/ML, and embedded systems internships, which are usually done in the top firms like Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, and Infosys. While the Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical branches are getting their internships in engineering design, construction, and industrial projects, partially they could be through off-campus networking. The college promotes summer internships after the 6th or the 7th semester, and there is a considerable support from the faculty mentors and the Training & Placement cell. Students are also provided with the necessary guidance to carry out research internships at IITs, DRDO, ISRO, and other research institutes. All in all, the internship scenario is very strong which is great for both the students as they get industry exposure as well as hands-on experience.

Placement Experience

4

The annual placements at NIT Delhi are consistently getting better year by year where the top branches such as CSE, ECE, and IT are leading the way with their strong placement rates. Many students get hired at very attractive salaries by well-established companies like TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Microsoft, and Amazon. For example, the CTC of the best offers have reached as high as ?15–20 LPA in some instances. The Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical branches also contribute to the university’s overall placement record to some extent. Those students usually boost the available opportunities for themselves by taking up internships and off-campus offers. Moreover, the students who fail to get a job on the campus can still benefit out of the college atmosphere where the strong basics of coding, projects, and practical skills are taught which makes the students quite employable at startups, off-campus, or even when going for higher studies like M.Tech/GATE/abroad. To sum up, NIT Delhi is a very solid foundation for the students whether they want to have a career or continue with their education.

Fees and Financial Aid

NIT Delhi offers a balanced mix of affordability and quality. For General category students, the annual cost is around ?1.65–1.85 lakh, including tuition, hostel, and mess, making the total B.Tech expense roughly ?6.5–7 lakh over four years. However, the fee structure is highly inclusive. SC/ST and PwD students get 100% tuition waiver, while those with family income below ?1 lakh pay almost nothing except hostel charges. Students from income slabs ?1–5 lakh receive two-thirds tuition remission. Multiple scholarships like Central Sector, Merit-cum-Means, and ONGC further reduce costs. Though hostel and mess fees have slightly increased in recent years due to inflation, NIT Delhi remains far more economical than private colleges. With strong placement returns, the investment is justified. Overall, NIT Delhi ensures that financial limitations never become a barrier for deserving students, making it a great value-for-money choice.

Campus Life

4

Essentially, my time at NIT Delhi has been really good. From a social point of view, the campus is a place where a friendly and cooperative atmosphere is established and the students, who come from the different backgrounds, are forming clubs, technical societies, and cultural groups. On the one hand, through participation in the great range of events such as tech fests, coding competitions, and cultural festivals, the students' skills of teamwork and networking are enhanced. Moreover, the members of these clubs get the opportunity to work with their own hands on the topics in areas such as Robotics, Coding, Entrepreneurship, and Photography besides their academic activities. The construction is up to the mark but is still developing, with good quality classrooms, labs, hostels, sports facilities, Wi-Fi, and libraries. Some facilities are still under construction, but the campus is effectively managing the balance between the academic rigor and social, cultural, and technical engagement, which is very important for the students to develop both personally and professionally. Literally, the campus life at NIT Delhi is great and it is a source of motivation and support throughout the year.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facilities at NIT Delhi are average and usable, though the campus is still under construction. Most hostels come with single, double, or triple occupancy types of rooms, and these are minimally furnished, Wi-Fi is available, and there are some common areas for socializing. Mess is served with regular meals, but hygiene standards are usually good, though students sometimes depend on their own arrangements for snacks. Sports grounds, indoor games, and study areas can also be found within the hostel premises. There are also some rental apartments for those students who want to stay off-campus, but hostels are still preferred because of the closeness, safety, and integration into the campus life. Generally, the hostel life is comfortable and keeps alive the spirit of a strong community.

Admission

I decided to go to NIT Delhi mainly for its prestige, NIT status, the variety of branches and the surrounding area of Delhi NCR that is more open to exposure and internships. Apart from that, I had also filled out the application forms of NIT Srinagar, IIIT Una, and DTU Delhi. I was given the go-ahead to take Mechanical at NIT Srinagar and the branch of IT at IIIT Una, but I still voted for NIT Delhi because of the strong preference of the branch, better placements, and that it is not far away from my house. I was unable to access the top NITs like Trichy or Surathkal because my JEE Main rank was a little under their cutoff points. Admission at NIT Delhi is through JEE Main and JoSAA counselling. The steps include document verification and fee submission. The procedure is transparent and without any hassle, and NIT Delhi was the best choice that struck the perfect balance between academics, opportunities, and ROI.

Faculty

5

NIT Delhi boasts a young but well-qualified faculty group, with the majority of the professors possessing PhDs from well-known institutions such as IITs, NITs and IIITs. They are friendly and helpful, particularly at the time of projects and research work, although quality teaching may differ from one department to another. The curriculum system is credit-based with a combination of theory, labs and electives. Every semester generally consists of mid-semester exams (30%), end-semester exams (50%) and ongoing assessments such as quizzes, assignments or practicals (20%). Attendance has weightage, particularly in laboratories. The relative marking system is followed in the majority of the subjects, which makes it easier to balance the level of difficulty. Internal assessment is rigorous but honest, and the students who maintain consistency throughout the semester perform well. Overall, the educational system is designed to promote both conceptual understanding and problem-solving over rote memorization.

Interview Experience

1

In the process of admission to NIT Delhi, I did not have to face a Group Discussion, Interview, or Written Test. My entire selection process was solely on the basis of the JEE Main examination score through the centralized JoSAA counselling. I entered my preferred choices after the result declaration, then I went for the document verification and fee payment when NIT Delhi was allotted to me. The institute didn't do any further screening like some private colleges would. This transparent and trouble-free admission system guarantees that the seat is allocated only by the merit of JEE Main, without any subjective evaluation like interviews or GDs.

Night Life

4

Since NIT Delhi is located in the Delhi NCR region, the college campus is pretty quiet at night. This is because it is mainly a residential and academic area. The campus is safe and tranquil after the evening, while most students are seen either spending time in the hostel, playing indoor games or studying late at night. The social events occur in the common rooms of hostels, student clubs, or cultural events; however, quite the opposite to a happening nightlife, there is no hustle and bustle on campus. In contrast, the city of Delhi is just a short distance away, where students can find cafes, restaurants, malls, and entertainment hubs, thus they can enjoy the nightlife during weekends or holidays. In general, the nightlife is not very vibrant, yet it is safe, and the majority of the student community’s engagements are around them rather than commercial nightlife.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course Curriculum for ECE in my clg is quite up to date and comprehensive, covering both core subjects and emerging areas of technology, which was a major factor in my decision to choose this branch. Course has a balanced theory with practical exposure, supported by great faculties guidance and well-maintained lab conditions. Also you get to choose the type of minor or specilaization you want to pursue after 1st year. Exams are conducted regularly after each semester, and levels are same as any engineering college would have.

The placements are in good terms, many students get a placement with nice package. Students become eligible for campus placements from 3rd Semester. TCS made about 7 offers as far as I know. One can expect the highest package of 2.5crore and an average of 200000. About 80% of students gets placement because of the skills they learned wheres the rest 20% are only at college to do mischievous acts. After getting the degree, I will find a job and then after enough capital I will start my own startup.

The frequency of the exams is 2 times a year once in the month of December and once in the month of May. Internal exams (tests) are conducted in between to continuously evaluate you during the course. According to me, the exam should be conducted before itself, so that we can get more time for internship opportunities.
