Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choose this course (civil engineering) thinking about non-tech opportunities in DTU placements and even after that I can pursur for govt sector in my field of study in my first 2 sem. only 2 subject were related to civil enginnering. 1. Testing of civil material: As the name suggest, we mostly learned about test which can be performed on material to test their quality 2. Statistical method for Engineers: They linked statics with sampling actual construction matrial example and thought us how to get their mean, distribution and all other statistical concepts. As far as I have the curiculam seem fine and seems well adversed with current technology. frequency of exam in odd sem is high (every exam per 1.5 month) even though difficulity would be average the frequency makes a bit hard. In even sem the frequeny of exam is less (2-3 month per exam)

Placement Experience

4

From second year onwards... student are given access to Traning and placement department... Most 2nd, 3rd years are eligible for intership offers and 3rd years are eligible for job offers. Ebullient (85LPA) is the highest offer provided, Avg package is around 17LPA. but but only 37% student has been placed this FY till now (placements are still going on)

Fees and Financial Aid

In the first year I paid 236000 (236700 to be exact) as the fees in which only 147300 is the tution fees and the other amount is non-govt component (extracurricular, research, facilities, examination fees etc) and the college has provided a circular which also states that the fee will increase yearly. so for FY 2024-25: 236700 FY 2025-26: 246700 FY 2026-27: 266700 All categories student have to pay same fee. As it is a state university. Fee exemption for SC/ST is not applicable here DTU does provide merit cum need scholarship.. Students have to go through PI for that. Two student from my class got 100% concession on fees and some other student got 50%. On merit based as far as I have only only your EWS fee (10K) gets return if you top your class.

Campus Life

5

Campus life has been great... I have gone in more trips, events in my first sem than I did in my whole 2-year prep. Fests has been great DTU has 2 official fest (yuvaan and engifest) and there are another fest too, like fresher party, Diwali Mela, dandiya night. all of them has been great for me. even though yuvaan and engi both got postponed it didn't lessen the fun. Fresher Party (aug-sep) Dandiya night (Oct) Yuvaan (Dec) Engifest (Feb but postponed to March) Each classrooms has projectors in them with mic and speaker for teachers. New classrooms in the Academic blocks are beautiful and oldest ones SPS and departmental classrooms are not that bad.. they have similar facilities as Academic Block One.

Admission

I got DTU using my category. It was the best option in my option.. In my rank I was only getting some lower tier IPU colleges. So getting DTU was best for me. Seeing the cutoff of IPU colleges. I would have gotten Electrical in MAIT in spot round, this would have been the best option if I wanted to get into tech and I was also getting NSUT mech (which alot of people told me that it was a better option). But at the end I think it worked out fine. No, I didn't get rejection because I most probably knew what I would get in my rank and DTU was the best option. I didn't apply much either, only JAC and IPU. Admission process was: give JEE exam for engineering fill out from for JAC delhi counselling wait for seat to get alloted go for document verification after allotment final allotment is your college. (got DTU civil in 4th round, locked it in 5th round) Eligibility was 60% in the boards

Faculty

Most of the faculty are fine, they treat student well if approach. faculty to student ratio should be around 50-60 student per teacher. As there are alot of faculity in DTU (inculding the ones who are pursuing masters and PhD). Lab faculities (there are 3 faculities in each lab, so I don't remember each of their names): They are alot of times not helpful and a bit rude, If you don't do things properly. If you want to do well if you learn it through youtube or read material first hand then come into the lab. In each sem there are 2 exams (mid sem and end sem), Exams are usually easy and you can study 1-2 day before hand to score more than class average. Most of the time there are atleast 5-10 student who fail in some subject. I am in first year, In first year they mostly teacher general subjects like physics, math.

Night Life

4

spot such as night cafe (closed now), Deltech, raj soin hall and sport complex are a great place to hangout. At late night only DelTech opens till 3 A.M. Gym are open 6-10a.m in morning and 4-8pm in evening. old cafeteria is closed and new raj soin hall has been opened which opens till 9pm raj soin hall has a big auditorium, indoor playing area, dominos, Bistro, udipi restraunt etc. Library usually closes at 10pm at normal day and it opens for 24hr during exam time. Public areas usually never closes. Campus is open all the time but after 12pm you have to give resoning to the guard to go out or inside the campus. Timing for girl is a bit strict they need to be in their hostel at 11pm (max) otherwise write an apology. Timing such as this for boys only exist on paper.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is well structured and industry oriented syllabus. This course includes theoretical as well as practical knowledge. Laboratory work ,internship based projects influences me to take admission at this course. The timing of exam is good and moderate. The course should give more focus on technical knowledge also which may help the students to gain more knowledge.

The placements of my college are really okayish. There has been a stark fall in the standards of our college placements. Every year, lesser and lesser companies are coming to offer placements. Moreover, the placement cell tries to exploit the desparation of the students.

Placement Experience:

DTU is very well known for its placements and internships. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Atlassian visit it several year with high CTCs. Students are eligible for oncampus interns from 3rd year onwards. The pfficial stats arent out so the total number of companies isnt sure. The highest last year was 85lpa offered by Atlassian while companies like Google offered 65lpa. They mostly recruited for SDE1 and the percentage is very fluctuating as it depends on the branch. Tech branches have really good numbers like 75-85% while for core engineering branches it is about 60%. I plan to work and gain some experience as SDE in a reputed company then MBA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is a lot outdated, in the first semester you learn things which do not even have practical applications in today's real world but that is very much the same for all colleges but i did see some interesting courses for ournext semesters and some of the professors go out of their way to teach you interesting things so that's good. I believe the curriculum should be revised as soon as possible.
