Course Curriculum Overview

2

i believe CS hons is a decent course. The curriculum is however, very outdated. We are being taught several topics that have no relevance these days and they arent even taught properly. I believe a far better choice would be doing BTech instead since it has a better course and companies prefer that over BSc CS. In terms of preparing for the real world, i believe this course has no use since the most important parts we have to learn it ourselves. Exams are conducted once at the end of every semester (including practical and theory). However during the semesters, there are multiple tests taken to asses our knowledge regularly

Fees and Financial Aid

I am a student pursuing BSc Hons in Computer Science and the course fees is approx 37k per year. Although it has been increasing for some time just like any other course in DU. Other than that there are no additional fees to be paid to the college and everything is included in this. The fees for everyone is equal regardless or the category (except EWS). There is a scholarship scheme for students coming from low earning families. 100% for ones with yearly salary under 1lakh and 50% for those under 8 lakh per annum. Although there might be a process for this which i am not aware of unfortunately.

Campus Life

4

My campus life has been great. The people here are amazing and friendly. There are a lot of societies to join and every one of them is great tbh. Socially, the college is probably one of the best in south campus. The library is also very vast and has every books related to our courses. However, they dont provide books outside of courses like fiction, self-help, etc. which i believe is a small downside. Withthin the classrooms its very clean and spacious and every class room is equipped with a projector to use freely but the rooms dont have ACs provided.

Admission

I only opted Delhi University for BSc Computer Science. The admission process was made very easy via CUET exam and DU CSAS process for seat allocation. We just had to give our cuet admission number and other details and our registration was done. After that preference filling was done and then the allocation rounds started. I would say the process was very helpful and simple in DU. Since i didnt apply for others my only option was Delhi University and nothing went wrong.

Faculty

4

Since im a fresher, i dont have many details. But the faculty is less as compared to the number of students so the timetable has to be stretched so much in order to accomodate all the students and the classes. The arts faculty in general are the worst acc. to the students since they arent friendly at all and give students a hard time in their classes. And maybe the commerce or maths faculty is very friendly and helpful to the students and they genuinely seem interested in teaching the students. I havent given any exams yet since its my first year but the level just depends on your preparation and your subjects tbh.

Night Life

2

There isnt much nightlife inside the college since it closes around 6PM everyday. There arent any hostels provided for south and off campus colleges in DU which is a huge downside for students. However there are many hangout places inside the college. First of all theres our canteen which is always full of people just hanging out or eating but you can find spots to sit. Aside from that theres a utility area where u can get snacks and coffees and juices and theres a seating area there too. And theres also sitting area near the ground which is covered with trees so no need to be concerned with sun.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is too good. As my course is life sciences so instead of learning about only one core subject like in botany hons and zoology hons course, we get chance to learn about zoology, botany and chemistry simultaneously. That Also unlock a large no. of opportunities for my future. Acc to me the ratio of practical lab and theory classes should be increased like we only get 1 lab for one core subjects in a week so I think this no. Should be increased so that we can get more practical knowledge. The difficulty level of exams are too much High like it seems we're hons course students that should be decreased.

Campus placements are for commerce background mostly, usually in 3rd year you might see some placements. I don't know exactly about thr company who visited because I wasn't enrolled in that particular course. Campus placements percentage is very low to be honest . 10-20% mostly. I'll pursue masters.
