Course Curriculum Overview
I choose Economics as I loved the subject and also wants to study Mathematics with it. Our syllabus was wide and useful for real life application also. But the negative side of the exams were they came very fast, only less than 3 months gap between each semester, so it was tough to prepare sometimes but overall good.
Fees and Financial Aid
When I took admission, the admission fees was around 1200 rs, tution fees was 220 rs, developement fees was 750 rs, building fees was 850 rs, lab fee was 250 rs and so on. Total in one year it was near 5000 rs, and in three year it was around 15000 rs. Fees was not increasing that time. My friends from reserved category pay less as their tution fees was waived. Scholarships like Swami Vivekananda merit-cum-means scholarship was there, giving 12000 rs - 18000 rs per year for good marks and needy students.
Campus Life
My campus life was simple and easy at Charuchandra. One of the main attraction of our college was its annual fest wich took place in every year's January month. It was the famous event of our college. One of the most favourite place in my college was it's library which had 2500+ books which everyone can use. But unlike other modern colleges we didn't have any modern technologies in every classrooms but we did have a big screen and a projector in our auditorium. Our college was also famous for its participation in sports like Football, Table tennis and Relay race competitions in both domestic and national level.
Admission
I also applied for some other colleges in Kolkata like Maulana Azad College, Asutosh College, New Alipore College, Heramba Chandra College and also got some confirmed admission call from some of them but either they were far from my home or their fees structures were a little bit high so I choose Charuchandra due to it's easily reachable location and the simple admission procedure with no seperate entrance examination.
Faculty
Teacher student ratio was good. It was almost 1:15 and the teachers were very helpful and always approchable. I especially want to mention some faculty names like Dr. Joanki Sengupta and Dr. Susmita Banerjee from the department of Economics and Dr. Suman Dutta and Dr. Debalina Sarma from the department of Mathematics for their extremely clear and the best teaching techniques. Exams were semester wise, every 6 months and the difficulty level was medium where the course curicullum was relevant and helpful.
Night Life
College was only open till afternoon, so there was no nightlife inside or outside of campus, but after our classes we used to go to nearby hangout places like Lake gardens lake view, Lake Mall, Golden dragon cafe or Sharma's Dukan. These sopts were our favourite spots.
