Life as a Sikkim University student in the main campus, Yangang

The course curriculum will give you a comprehensive understanding of Contemporary IR theories, India's Foreign Policy, polilical theory, Hydrodiplmacy, Poltical Economy, Research Methodology and so on. You will also have to do your dissertation in the last semster that is the 4th semster and defend it to get your Masters Degree.

First, I will start with the fee structure, so for every semester, you have to pay Rs 744 before the end-of-semester examinations. The admission fee that you need to pay is Rs 620. The hostel fees vary according to the categories. The SC and ST category people do not need to pay hostel seat rent fee, the other students have to pay 113and so on. Life may get monotonous but overall its good if you get adjusted here.

The clubs are actually in the Gangtok campus so you can join it. The programmes that are celebrated in the campus are Nepali Bhasha Diwas, Independence Day, Durga Puja celebrations, Diwali celebrations, Holi, Bohagi Bihu and so on. The library has a vast variety of books. The classrooms has smartboards. Infrastructure in the new campus is still under construction.

Rooms are good but the food quality in the new campus is not good while in gangtok campus the hostels provide good meals as the mess is led by students. You need to register through the official portal. The locality is peaceful.

I chose this college as this is close to my hometown as compared to the other colleges I applied. Apart from this university, I applied to Central University of Punjab, Central University of Gujarat, Central University of Kerala, Pondicherry University and JNU. I got chance in Punjab, Kerala and Sikkim so I chose Sikkim University. Yes, I didn't get chance in the other universities as the cut off was very high.

The faculty members are good and very well knowledged. You will get to learn a lot during your study. The course structure is like you have to pay Rs 744 before every semester exams. There are three sessionals and one end-of-term semester exams and a lot of assignments and presentations.

Gym, cafeterias are there in Gangtok campus but not in the yangang campus. Hostel rooms are good. In gangtok, there are a lot of places to go. You roam around the MG marg and eat softies with the beautiful view in the evening.
