Likes
- KIIT has a sprawling campus of 730 acres, well designed buildings specially the electronics campus in which I study. It has departmental library, research lab and a central library for all branches contributing to a conducive learning environment.
- KIIT maintains a strong placement record with an average package of 8 lakh per annum. Companies like Amazon, Philips, Moschef, TCS, Accenture, Infosys have participated in the campus placements
- Professors are highly qualified and supportive providing ample opportunities for those who are serious about their future and career.
Dislikes
- The tuition fees is a bit high according to me. I had to take education loan from the bank to pay my semester fees.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose these course over all the other courses to lay a strong foundation on electronics and get exposure to modern communication technologies. Also increasing demand for AI/ML and VLSI design in electronics with courses introducing these topics. The curriculum includes industry oriented subjects like embedded systems, VLSI and networking but practical exposure is often limited. Exam difficulty level for core subjects like digital signal processing, electromagnetics and Analog circuits can be challenging but conceptual understanding makes them managable.
Internships Opportunities
One of the main company is HighRadius and they hire interns for SDE role. Many startups like PhysicsWallah Unacademy also hire interns at the end of 5th semester. There are less internship opportunities in core branches like Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical. But if you are in CSE or any other allied branches and you have skill you will definitely secure an internship with substancial pay.
Placement Experience
From 6th semester students become eligible for campus placements Companies like TCS, Infosys, Accenture visited and are mass recruiters of the college Highest package- 63 LPA and average package- 8 LPA and most of the job profile are Tech related like SDE and like that College claim that 100% students get placed but I think 85-90% students get placed I am planning to give government exams like UPSC, GATE, RRB, SSC CGL after getting my B.Tech degree
Fees and Financial Aid
Tution fees (for Electronics)- Rs.1,75,000 per semester Tution fees (for CSE & related branches)- Rs.1,95,000 per semester Registration fees- Rs.1000 per semester (same for all branches) Hostel fees (3-bed non AC)- Rs.28,000 Mess fees- Rs.22,500+2,500 (increased from 4th semester) Exam fees- Rs.1000 (required to pay before every end semester examination) Scholarship available for students securing above 9.90 CGPA For students who took admission in 2024, the fees for Electronics branch has been increased to Rs.1,95,000 and for CSE and related branches Rs.2,10,000 per semester
Campus Life
KIITFEST- held in the month of February KI3 (innovation fest)- held in the month of December or January All classrooms are air conditioned and there are smart interactive panels along white whiteboard in every classroom. Besides there are also CCTV cameras in every classroom and labs. There is an international cricket stadium and an indoor stadium in KIIT where various national and international tournments are organized. There are both tech and non tech clubs like- KRS( Kiit Robotics Society), Kiit Electrical Society, MLSA(Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador), GDG (Google Developers Group) and many more
Hostel Facilities
One mattress, one study table and chair, one wardrobe will be provided in every room Meal quality is not upto the mark in comparison of the fees taken as catering charges or mess charges One can choose to opt in for hostel at the time of admission but it is not compulsory. One can even rent a PG and stay outside the college campus as day boarder. Transportation facility to college is provided to day boarders (both AC and Non AC buses are provided)
Admission
Apart from KIIT I also applied for PES university, VIT. I got confirmed admission in CSE branch of these colleges but these colleges are far away from my home. So distance is one of the main factors for not choosing other colleges instead of KIIT. For taking admission in KIIT one has to appear in the KIITEE examination which is conducted in CBT mode. After the exam result will be declared within a month. Then one has to sit for counselling for choosing the branch of their choice. The cutoff score is different for all the three phases. For example in 2023, a student securing 15 percentile in KIITEE got CSE core branch but in the second phase the cutoff for CSE core raised to 75 percentile.
Faculty
The teacher student ratio in KIIT is good which is 1:50 The best faculties of School of Electronics are- Dr N.K. Rout, Dr Sudhakar Sahu, Dr Suprava Pattnaik, Anshuman Pattnaik and many others There are mainly 16 exams in total for the 8 semesters. Apart from this there are internal assessments like quiz, assignments, presentation etc. Mid Semester exam is of 20 marks and end semester exam is of 50 marks and rest 30 marks are for internal assessment. Rarely students fail in these examinations. There are also lab evaluation for lab based subjects.
Night Life
There are gyms in every campus of the college. One can attend gym in three different slots- Morning, Afternoon and Night Hostel in timings for Boy's hostel- 7:00 PM for first year and 9:00 PM for al the subsequent years and for girls its 7:30 PM for every year. It is not safe to roam around at night outside the college campus as the place becomes empty after 8 at night. Famous hangout places are- Nandankanan Zoological Park, Lingaraj Temple, Udaigiri and Khandagiri Caves
