- Classrooms have proper setup. They are big, neat and clean.
- Projector setup is available in every class. Some pairs of smartboards are also available and in working condition.
Dislikes
- Office stuffs are not very much experienced. They can call you every now and then and it can irritate you often.
- Teaching stuffs are quite new in this college. Sometimes they have lack of experience (in few cases). At most 60% teaching stuffs are freshers.
- Lack of skillful office stuffs also cause some problems like teaching stuffs have to do some of the office works. Which leads sometimes to drain their energy.
Course Curriculum Overview
I want to learn about Medicines and their way of work (Mechanism of action). So I decided to complete D.pharm and after this I joined B.pharm for advanced study. This is technical course so it is very much practical in real life. This course teaches about the overall knowledge about various types of drugs. College also gives placements in various places with average salary about 300000 anum. Exam levels are medium. College should improve their faculties. Exams are happening most of the times of the year.
Internships Opportunities
Companies like Macloids, Sun Pharma, Cipla etc gives internship to the students They mainly hire employees for their manufacturing units from B.pharm colleges. Here is also no exception. After completing 3 months successful training period ( about Rs.15000 a month ) they offer you permanent posting with good salary. Beside this APPOLLO pharmacy, Med plus also hires registered pharmacists. They also gives around 15000 a month salary.
Placement Experience
Gitanjali college also gives adequate placements opportunities. Opportunities comes from many sectors. Appolo, Med plus etc. are common and easy opportunities. Beside them Mainly Production companies like Macloids, Sun Pharma etc also conducts interview for their production units every year. Interviews are arranged for 4th year students only. My plan is to continue my higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
For regular students who got admission in 1st year they have to pay 460000 as total course fee. But for lateral students who got admitted in 2nd year they have to pay Rs 347000 as total course fee. For regular students they have to pay Rs 57000 per semester. For lateral students they have to pay Rs 55000 per semester during admission Rs 70000 should be paid. This fee includes course fees, dress fee. SVMCM scholarship is available for students who have more then 60% marks in previous exam. This scholarship provides a whopping Rs 60000 per year scholarship. Means Rs 240000 for 4 year students and 180000 for lateral students. Students having a gap of more than 2 year can apply for MCM Scholarship worth Rs 30000 per year.
Campus Life
College also conducts Various types of events throughout the year. Annual sports, freshers, fest etc are organised every year with great enthusiasm. Yearly seminar is also conducted. Students and faculties shows great enthusiasm and response to these events. Prize is also given to encourage students. Library is one one good things in this college. Various types of premium book's are available for students in the library (Like K.D Tripathi, shanbag etc). Book's are available all the time during office hours.
Hostel Facilities
In hostel room there is 1 bed, 1 matress,1 chair and 1 table is available for each students. Weakly 2 days chicken (Sunday and Wednesday), 1 day fish (Monday), 2 days egg(Friday and Tuesday) and other days veg are available. 2 times snacks are available in a day ( MURI and Ghugni, pakoda, tea etc.) Friday evening chowmin is also provided. Quality of food is not very good. It needs improvement. Currently in the year 2025 the hostel rent is total 5000 a month. Recently I have left my hostel in this month and took a PG because of food of hostel. PG is available around the Lohapur bazar, kantagaria more, station, bhadrapur. PG is actually cheaper than the hostel.
Admission
I got admitted to this college through JELET exam after completing D.pharm. My criteria for choosing this college is mainly the distance between my home and college (I am from north side of West Bengal). So, basically this is the closest b.pharm college near me. Gitanjali college also accepts students without JELET examination (Direct admission). Obviously I tried for the government colleges first( JALPAIGURI AND JADAVPUR). But only two colleges with less then 15 seats it's very tough to get admission in lateral entry. So this was my second choice after those government colleges. Overall admission process is easy . You just need to contact to college and they will do the rest for you.
Faculty
Total students around 500 and teaching stuffs are 31. Relationship between students and teachers are quite good. Most of teachers are supportive. Specifically JB( Janmajay Banerjee) sir very popular among students. Most hated will be the Principal (rudeness) There will be 4 internal theory exams and 2 practical internal exams before main Semester exam. Semester exams comes twice a year.
Night Life
College is actually located in a rural area named Lohapur. This location is belong the district Birbhum. It's is actually the border of Murshidabad. Environment is actually rural. Students coming from metro cities may not like this place because no blinkit, no ZOMATO, no SWIGGY no movie theatre is available in about 25 km radius. It is actually good for them, because it can cause distraction. And about hostel , I actually opted for hostel. It is around 1.5 km from college. College bus is available. So , transport is not a problem. Food is available 2 times (rice and other food) and breakfast is available. Locality is safe for roaming around. Hostel campus closing time is 6pm. 24 hours electricity is available (generator for emergency).
