Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is somewhat relevant especially after the NEP(New education policy). The college offers courses like Artificial intelligence which exposes you to industry level machine learning algorithms, but at the same time there are also courses like microprocessors which I don't think has any relevance in the industry. The term exams are moderately difficult. I've seen chaps ace the exam with a night of prep but that isn't everybody's cup of tea.
Internships Opportunities
Companies such as De shaw offer 150000 as a stipend per month. A good number of comapnies visit the college during the internship season. Almost all of these companies offer a handsome amount as the stipend. A well beuilt resume is needed to appear for these opportuinities.
Placement Experience
The placement season begins in the 4th year. Top companies like De Shaw and Microsoft visit the campus. The average package for CSE was 28.3 LPA. And the Highest package was for 71.14 LPA. I am preparing for the internship and the placement season in the college.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuituon fee I am paying is 62,500 rupees a semester. The caution money is one time and it is 5000 rupees. The hostel fee is 12,000 rupees a semester. The institute fee is 10,000 rupees and the user charges is 9000 rupees a semester. The scheme above is for families with income aboe 5 Lakh. For families with income between 1 to 5 lakh, the tuition fee is 20,833 rupees a semester. And for families with income lesser than 1 lakh the tuition fee is NIL. Rest all is the same.
Campus Life
The annual fest happens in spring and it is called CULRAV. The tech fest is called AVISHKAR. The whole campus gets lively and it is loads of fun. So many stalls get set up and the atmosphere lightens up. The library is vast and houses a good variety of books. ACs are being installed in the classrooms at the time of the review. Each classroom is fitted with a projector. There is a wide variety of clubs and anyone can join them. MNNIT has a good sports culture housing a running track, football ground, badminton courts, basketball court, tennis courts, volleyball courts and a skating rink.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel room provided in the first year is pretty spacious. Rooms in the second year gets a little cramped. You get single rooms from 3rd year onwards. The mess food is ok. Non vegetarians will be disappointed because there is no non veg food. The hostel is affordable, it costs 12000 a semester and the mess costs 25000 a semester.
Admission
My JEE score was able to get me the CSE branch in MNNIT allahabad. If i had cleared the cutoff for IITs or the other south NITs i'd have chosen them. And one of the main motives behind joining MNNIT was its ability to offer top notch placements. Top MNCs visit the campus and offer handsome packages.
Faculty
The faculty is pretty qualified. The profs get better as you progress in your course. CSE offers some of the best faculty and they are quite approachable. But just like any tree, not all the apples taste good. You are bound to dislike some of the faculty. But overall they provide a good learning experience and make complex lectures easy to understand. The term exams are not super difficult. I've seen people ace them with just a night of preparation but i've seen some struggle with them too. It is the duty of the student to see where he stands. If i had to assess the difficulty, I'd say they are moderately difficult.
Night Life
The college is vast and has a lot of cafes and canteens. Mr Dewsis is one such place preferred by a lot of students. The nightlife is pretty normal, nothing too crazy. You will find chaps playing sports, couples roaming around and friends going on a walk. The nightlife outside the campus isn't that great in prayagraj. The first year boys should be in hostel by 10 pm. From second year boys have no such restrictions. For girls it is around 8 pm.
