Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of the course is updated every 2-3 years and the modules taught in each subject is up to date. Each subject has 5 modules per semester. Each module may contain 1-2 chapters. It is relatively easy in first and second semester as subjects are less but in 2nd and 3rd year the number of subjects will increase
Internships Opportunities
There are many companies who offer internships. These companies include Bosch, kickdrum, magna, nference, hashedin technologies. The average stipend is ?20,000. The duration of the internship is 6 months
Placement Experience
Campus placements and internships are present in JSS. There are many good companies that come to the in campus interviews and the placement percentage is more than 60%. The average package is 700000 with the highest package being 4300000. The college also provides opportunities for students coming up with startup ideas. The college funds the startup if it's feasible and viable.
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid 3 Lakhs per year for my fees under management quota which is also the same amount if I'd gotten into the college through COMEDK counselling. It also happens to be one of the cheapest colleges for people joining under management quota when compared to other colleges in Bangalore
Campus Life
The social life in JSS is very good. There are many clubs like cadence for music, ABHA for classical dance, XSTAT for western dance. The college also hosts one fest every year. Everyone is extremely respectful and college is filled with positive vibes. The seniors are all very friendly. Ragging is completely prohibited and if anyone faces issues with ragging or bullying there is an anti ragging team in the college who will take very strict action against the culprits
Admission
I chose this college because it's near to my house and I personally feel it's better than all the colleges in the vicinity, which includes RNSIT and SJBIT. The fees for management quota is also less for ECE course. JSS doesn't have any college entrance exam, they accept students through KCET and COMEDK and management quota
Faculty
The college comes under VTU so all the exams are held according to VTU curriculum. The faculty of the college do a great job when it comes to teaching and providing study materials. Most of the faculty are accessible any time in college or through WhatsApp or by just calling them after college timings. The faculty to student ration is also decent at 1:60. According to VTU, each student gets assigned a faculty as their mentor who stays as their mentor thought the course completion period. The mentor can be approached at any time for any reason. In physics cycle there are 2 internal examinations and 1 internal lab exam and one semester end examination. In the chemistry cycle its the same as physics cycle but with an extra semester end lab exam. Compared to autonomous college exams, VTU exams are easier
Night Life
There's not night life as such in JSS, the college stays open till 9:00 pm. The girls hostel is located inside the campus and the boys hostel is across the road outside the campus. There are numerous PGs around the campus and there are few hangout places around the campus. There are 2 Canteens in campus. One canteen serves South Indian food and is very well maintained. The other canteen serves fast food like burgers and sandwiches.
