Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is quite comprehensive and includes and the relevant understanding of the higher concepts of Inorganic Chemistry, Organic chemistry and Physical Chemistry. The course curriculum does prepare a student to pursue higher studies. However, one might face difficulty in trying to get selected in premier institutes of chemistry in the country like JNU etc. The course curriculum for organic chemistry could be improved and diverse and practice topics could be included. The exams are conducted twice a year and they're not very difficult.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year-wise fees that I paid during the course was ?6000. The fees included all the other charges like caution fees, lab fees etc. The BCA students paid around ?10000 per annum. We god the merit cum need scholarship at the rate of ?7000 per year. Overall, the course and college is quite affordable.

Campus Life

4

The college does host an annual fest in the month of July typically. The college also organizes picnics and study tours like botanical tour etc. The library is fully stocked and has a wide range of books and journals. The issuance and return process is online. The classrooms are equipped with smartboards and WiFi which makes the whole learning experience interactive and amazing. As fas as the sports facilities are concerned the college has a big playground and an indoor stadium. Students go to play at national level as well. The college also has a huge auditorium which hosts debating events and seminars.

Hostel Facilities

3

The rooms of the hostel have basic facilities like a cupboard, separate bed and a fan. Rooms are well ventilated. There is no attached washroom. Air conditioning is also not available. The food is served 4 times and includes two teas and 2 rice and other vegetables. The food is good and hygienic. The hostel charges around 20000 rupees annually and is quite affordable. Qazibagh area provides rented rooms.

Admission

Apart from this college, I applied to GMC, Srinagar and SKIMS. But I got a confirmed admission only from this college. Yes I got a rejected from other colleges because I couldn't score enough in JKCET entrance exam. The admission process is very simple. Students can seek admission through CUET. Followed by that, one has to go for document verification. The overall admission experience is good and the faculty is actively helpful in that.

Faculty

5

The faculty to student ratio is around 1: 60. The faculty-student relationship is very cordial. Most of the professors are very welcoming and supportive and offer valuable academic guidance. There are 2 exams every year the they are not very difficult to clear. Around 15% of the students fail to clear the entrance. The course curriculum is however not so relevant to the demands of higher education outside Jammu & Kashmir.

Interview Experience

4

No I did not face any group discussion or interview for the admission. However, there is a written test of Multiple Choice Questions known as Common University Entrance Test (CUET). The level of the test is 10+2.

Night Life

4

There is a cafeteria within the campus which serves good food. After the classes, the students can go outside as there are many great restaurants around. The college has 3 hostel buildings which only have basic facilities. The campus timing is 10 am-4 pm. Yes the locality is safe to roam around at night.

Students are eligible for placemnt after third year. total 8 companies from local Food and beverage companies and agriculture related companie came for campus placements. Most of the student didnt take offers from the companies because none of the companies were offering more than 15k to 18k per month I also didnt take the placement offer for the same reason and now i am thinking for further studies from somewhere that have good placements Out of 23 students who were eligible for placements only 3 accepted the offer.

The curriculum provides me with Whatever is sufficient in my course and whatever knowledge I need, I will have more than that. Exam timing should be in the afternoon only because morning gets very late in coming due to which exam gets skipped, rest it is perfect

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose science-non medical subjects being MATHS, GEOGRAPHY, and GEOLOGY. Reasons are my interest and love for these subjects. Class students and teachers ratio is good: 40-1. Teachers' qualifications are also good: MSc, Ph.D., NET qualified. Our exams were semester-wise [once in six months]. it was easy to pass if you just study normal and attend classes.

Remarks:

A Good College Even though the college life seems like a fairy-tale to you, it is not. There are so many things that you have to be careful about when you are visiting a college and checking out its ambience. Don’t get influenced by the clean campuses that most of the colleges have; they purposely do it so that people like you get attracted to their appearance and join their team. If you don’t want to waste your hard earned money on the fees of the wrong college which spoils your fairy-tale dream, you might want to take admission in a college that’s good enough for students like you.
